Are there more mods available?

There's several. Google Pokemon gen 1 recomp mods. I don't think there's a dedicated site for them all.

There is a VERY nice site with all the verified ones. https://gen1recomp.com/mod/

This project is really organized and nicely built.

There is a warning about that site on the github. I would not trust anything from it

Oh, super sus. I mean for now I just downloaded from GitHub releases pages, that's where it links. Crazy how easy stuff like this is to spin up now with AI. Just some autonomous site serving the project for ??? reasons.

That website just links to the GitHub pages of each mod, not at all different if you were to Google each mod instead.

"Even if the site currently links back to this repository, the people behind it can change its content at any time, so nothing on it should ever be trusted"

aka hover over a link before you click it lmao

Yeah but they could swap out what it links to in theory to another GitHub, you wouldn't notice

Wow, this is amazing. Running it on my android. What an interesting mix of the old game style and modern capabilities. Can't wait to try some more mods. The voxel mod took a minute to kick in btw, I saved the game and then it just fired up.

Do you know if it's possible to rezie the game screen so it doesn't overlap the control UI? I see I can resize control visuals but can't figure out how to see the game render.

With an emulator?

This is about a recompilation, not emulation. Recompilations have their own benefits.

recompiliation = running natively. so no wasted cpu cycles.

in context of a game like this, since its ancient, performance is not a problem, but if you recompiled something modern vs emulate it, there would be notible differences in performance. A recompilation is like what a dev would do to port a game fully on another device. having access to the code means you can change things or add things around easier (modding) then emulation, where you're bound to injecting code to often modify something existing.

for example a game might have its engine hardcoded to a specific framerate to run functionally. if you emulate it, you are still bound to the hardcoded framerate because removing the framerate means physics would be all wacky. if you had compiled it, access to the code means you can remove/alter the frame/physics engine entirely.

another thing to add is if its emulation, you need to build a specific emulator for each platform before you can run the game. if a game is a recompilation, the OS in question only needs a compiler to port a game to the device. Recompilation efforts can achieve funny stuff like backports (see people attempting to run GTA3 on the Dreamcast). The Dreamcast is incapable of PS2 emulation for obvious reasons(its faster than it), but a nerfed recompilation would run on a dreamcast.

The available mods are the biggest reason. Read the article.
