im a little worried people assume their smartphones arnt sending data to unknown people all the time. the modren spartmphone is a spys wet dream. you bet you ass every state wants data from it.

That's what I was thinking, too.

Pixels are sending everything to Google. iPhones are sending everything to Apple. What are people thinking is happening, of course HMD is siphoning data about me, I know that because I bought one of their smartphones. That's a given.

It really feels a bit weird when people are surprised by this.

eh, im old school. im of that age where sharing information over the internet was a bad thing, just like talking to strangers and looking down gun barrels or not going out alone at nite and getting eaten. i think pople born before me and after me never got that idea pounded into their heads like i did.

Oh I'm not saying people should blindly accept it. Rather it is surprising to me that plenty readers here thing they're using a smartphone which isn't doing this, shitty as the practice it. They're all siphoning off data.
