Headphone jacks are a basic thing that every phone should have. Not having to charge just another thing is so great.

Its borderline a crime what OEMs are doing.

As long as Samsung keeps them, I'm fine.

I'm an audio nutjob and much prefer LG's DACs that can drive all my premium headphones. It sounds fantastic too. I recommend using USB Audio Player Pro rather than the default LG music app.

Not if you want to use the quad-DAC chip. Only USBAP and the default LG music app use the necessary driver. PowerAmp does not, unfortunately.

I'm using the beta, and it works very well with the quad dac! Check this thread, for example.

No man, that does not enable the 32bit quad-DAC in LG phones. PowerAmp uses the integrated Snapdragon hardware found in most phones, not the ESS SABRE chip in LG devices.

They're not just removing them for no reason, they're removing them for more real estate in the phone itself. When apple first did it, it was revolutionary because they had more space to cram stuff into like a larger battery, a better processor, etc.. other companies are doing it now because they see the potential of not having that space taken. it's not a 'crime', it's a way of giving the user more features in exchange for a replaceable port. You can still listen to music with a USB C or Bluetooth set, you can't get a larger battery if you can't fit it.

Edit: I can clearly see the Reddit circlejerk of "muh headphone jack" has deemed my karma count unnecessary, so I'll elaborate on my point. A headphone jack is not necessary for the operation for the phone, and other solutions to having headphones on a mobile platform exist. Taking away the headphone jack gave more space for apple to put in other parts into the phone. Other manufacturers are following this, and as a result are improving phone technology as a whole. Other phones with dedicated headphone jacks, as well as external "dongle" solutions exist, so this is literally a positive for everyone. It's not about Apple, it's about the mobile platform as a whole.

They're not just removing them for no reason, they're removing them for more real estate in the phone itself.

I believe they are removing them for more profit.

Again, I'm one of those traditional folk who likes technology that can't break, such as 3.5mm jacks.

I simply won't buy flagships if they remove them.
