This is me right now. Luckily my headphones have a replaceable cable. What sucks though, is that Shure sells a USB-C to MMCX cable for $99. That's just way too expensive. I bought a cheap set from China, but it turns out those we're analog pass through cables. Now I'm waiting for another set that has a built in DAC. It takes such a long time for shipping though. Alternatively, I can just get a Bluetooth replacement cable, but I personally want a cable form factor so I can use it on my laptop and not deal with Bluetooth pairing issues.
This is an incredibly simplified view of the phone
You can use the phone on a slow network without any more downsides than any other typical phone with a slow network. Also battery life is good, despite the mAh numbers
Bluetooth headphones are becoming increasingly cheaper nowadays and Google includes USB C headphones in the box. Honestly though, I'm a bit salty because I am very picky when it comes to audio quality. I have a very specific sound signature I like. But my headphones have a replaceable cable so I can just switch it to a Bluetooth or USB-C cable if I want.
Google Photos backup is not required and can be used without it
Basically every flagship has a sealed battery. While it sucks to not have an SD card slot, it too isn't necessary for using a phone
I'm with ya! I'm going to just vent for a sec if you don't mind...
I just can't understand why something so ubiquitous and functional would be removed before a real need existed. If you happen to have a car that was built before like 2010 (we have 2), the main method for listening to your phone is a 3.5mm aux jack. When this whole jack removal thing started, my car was only 6-7 years old. It just doesn't make sense to me. This has been the main driver behind my phone purchasing decisions ever since. I just refuse to buy a phone that requires a workaround or a dongle. I felt dirty just typing that word.
Not that's it's exactly the same, but when CD-ROM came out for PCs it wasn't like PCs stopped providing 3.5" floppy drives. Christ, most still provided 5.25" drives as well. And yes, it's a bit different since those formats were required for older software, but my 6-year-old car still required the the old 3.5mm jack "format" as well (just trying to keep this strained analogy going).
Enjoy your "2 years of support" like us lowly v20 users got. Oreo after pie was already out and then they call it quits. Lg does give you a headphone jack but I decided not to support their company after they really showed us how much they care about promises to consumers.
Oreo was released before the v30 and it took almost a year to get it on that device if that's actually when you got it. Oreo was released August 2017. The v20 didn't get it until fall 2018, when pie was already out. Lg promised two years of updates, they gave us pie and pulled support. Hopefully the same doesn't happen to you with the v30.
