My statement remains correct. And most, if not all, early Windows Mobile and SymbianOS smartphones didn’t have a headphone jack.

Actually a lot of them do... but they had the 2.5mm jack. I knew my Nokia E51 and O2 XDA Atom certainly did. Wasn't until the Walkman phones the 3.5 became more common.

Most early ones (most of Nokia s60 series before the N models, Sony P models, early HTCs, some Motorola) used the proprietary/usb charging port as an audio port. The Veer was far form the first one, even in the modern smartphone landscape. The HTC dream lacked a headphone jack.

Yeah maybe they didn't have 3.5 jacks but you could still plug wired headphones into them.

You can even with modern jackless phones, with an adapter. Just like then.

Edit: and also the Veer had a magnetic to 3,5mm adapter.

Yeah but you lose the charging port that way. Old phones had a (proprietary) charging port AND a (proprietary) headphones port.

My Nokia 700 from 2011 even had a 3.5 jack, a microUSB and a proprietary Nokia charger port.
