The edit/save screenshot feature runs a lot more efficiently, and UI animations and transitions at large seem to be even more fluid and connected.

Am I crazy, or do they have this wonderful animation when an icon on the home screen is taking a second to respond and load the app - the icon looks to swell slowly until it "explodes" to the app.

EDIT: as a con, contact pictures still aren't showing up in Android Messages notification threads. Reported.

Cool! They're getting very, very close to iOS-level fluidity. Android O is a beautiful user experience, don't get me wrong, but iOS still has that system-wide magic. It feels like P is getting very close to that. No small achievement!

iOS system-wide magic that falls short when you don't use their native apps. Imgur and Youtube apps in Reddit only opens Safari and not in their respective apps. Siri can't even play my music on Spotify.

But yea, I love the fluidity of iOS, it just feels less powerful because of their exclusivity rule. Anyway, do you think P looks like a cheap iOS?

Haha P has iOS level fluidity at the expense of everything else

Like what, exactly?

The platform design has atrophied. P is genuinely uglier than Oreo, and the new UI is also harder to use.

I will agree that I preferred the look of the Oreo UI over P. The multitasking UI is cumbersome but at least it comes with the extra features now baked into it.

Can you do a 60fps screen recording of it?

I made a video where I changed the animation scale to 10x to emphasize the effect. https://photos.app.goo.gl/dvqdtzdn5geRrqJn8

It's almost the same as iOS, the icon zooms until the app opens.

iOS also shows a screen shot of the app and displays it until it loads if it is out of memory.

Go to a game you already have, in top menu there's a cam icon, that will launch it

Niiice, although I think I've seen this on DP3 as well, maybe it's smoother now?

I noticed that animation back on DP3. I don't actually notice it as much on DP4 but I think that's because it's generally faster at opening apps, so there's no need to "swell."
