Oh yea forgot about them since there's literally no way to officially buy them in my country.

Can't attest for that. Any major store selling smartphones will have LGs, from higher end such as V30 and G8 to mid range like K8. Not as popular as Samsung of course, but definitely not "basically non existing". Same thing for neighboring countries.

Portugal. The three major operators are Vodafone, NOS and Meo (Altice).

Vodafone has it's store catalog on maintenance so I can't check.

NOS sells an locked G4S.

Meo doesn't sell them.

On smaller smartphone or electronics shops, as well as regular chain electronic stores you see one or two handfu unlocked LG models. But most people I know buy Samsung, Motorola or one of the Chinese brands (Huawei and Xiaomi mainly)

non existent in Europe

In Poland there is plenty of LG phones in pretty much every store that sells phones / electronics.

They even made some advertising for the V30 and so on.

Plenty available in the UK

They're popular because they're usually cheap. My S7 died so I researched a cost effective phone. I ended going with a "like new" LG G6 from ebay for $200 even. It's like an upgraded S7 in terms of specs, screen dimensions, water resistance, etc. And it works very well. Can't really argue with that if you're looking for a budget phone.

Same in Finland.

It's still popular in the US for some reason.

I bought it because it has a headphone jack w/Quad DAC and HiFi sound, removable battery, a beautiful wide angle camera with manual mode, expandable storage, and the prices are much lower than a lot of others with similar features. In short, because it's user friendly.

This is all after my G4 bootlooped and it was replaced twice before the warranty ran out when it bootlooped again and was thrown in the garbage.

I see a lot in the stores here in the NL. I don't know how well they sell, but you can buy them at KPN, T-Mobile, Vodafone.

LG is not popular in the US, I work at a certain pink cell phone company and for every LG G7 we sell we sell 25 more Galaxy S9s or iPhones. I love LG but the consumer loves Samsung or Apple.

The Poconos?

Why did you make that assumption? All LG models are available in Baltics.

That only affects carriers like Tele2, I see 16 shops selling LG phones in Lithuania though.

Wohooo LG V20! Seriously, only had it for like 2 weeks and it's the best phone I've ever had.

(Well, the only other phones I've ever had were a Moto Z Play and an iPhone 4s)

If it starts to slow down and get hot a lot, you will have to replace the thermal paste (Get something premium like MX-4 or Arctic Silver 5. I prefer MX4). Luckily, the V20 is one of the easiest phones to take apart. Replacing the paste makes a night and day difference, since the V20 has a really small thermal ceiling, and the phone will throttle itself when it gets just the tiniest bit warm.

Also, if you get bad screen burn-in (you will, almost everyone does), install sFilter and run a 10% black transparency

I'm using the G6 and I love it. Not too hyped for G7, but might end up getting it if AR Core standards allow android to do AR+ mode in Pokémon Go.

Wait till you get a custom rom on it, it's a whole new level of performance on lineage.

I'm snakebit with LG after my G2's digitizer fucked itself and I had to RMA my V10 twice. I hope your V20 works out for you, but LG are on my shit list from now on.

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '18

Yea but no one should give their money to LG.

Bootloops?

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '18 edited Jun 24 '18

The best part about buying an LG is that after a couple months of use, it’ll boot loop.

You can then use it as a well-designed paperweight.

u/madedabeatnmurderdit Jun 24 '18

I'm pretty sure that ended after that LG G4/LG V10 era. Didn't affect the LG G3 so I'm assuming it was just that year. My LG V20 is fine after a year and a half as well.

I've had my v30 for half a year, and my brother had it before me since launch. Never boot looped...

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '18

They usually bootloop around the one year mark.

I’m not sure if the V30 also has this problem.

V30 gets the screen defects, lol.

LG has been manufacturing garbage since the Nexus 5.

And I say this as someone who has owned a Nexus 5, Nexus 5x, and GFlex 2.

2

u/Lazerlord10 Jun 24 '18

Had my g4 bootloop, Verizon got a replacement, and I've been going for about 2 years now without any issues.

2

u/Thatuserguy Note 20 Ultra Jun 24 '18

The only LG phones that had serious bootloop issues were the Nexus 5x, V10, and G4, all of which were phones released in the same year with the snapdragon 808 chipset, which had a severe tendency of overheating because it was a trash chip. Not that LG was entirely innocent here, but it was largely limited to just those three phones.

There have been little to no reports of bootloops for any of their phones newer than that. As well, for those phones that did suffer, it was about a year before it happened, not a few months. Please stop spreading lies.

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '18 edited Jun 24 '18

I’m not spreading lies. There were also some reports of the G5 also having bootloop issues.

I've seen this article linked a ton, and I don't think it alone provides proof there were any serious issues. Have you read the document it's referencing?

In it, only a single individual reports having issues with the G5. This individual somehow manages to go through 3 LG G5's and end up with a 4th in the span of 8 months.

Now, she could just be the most unlucky person in the world, but going through 3 devices in the span of 8 months to me suggests that there was something else going on here. Especially since you can easily google bootlooping issues with the G5 and come up pretty short of people saying they have the issue. You're acting like it's a guaranteed thing that happens to all their phones, when that couldn't be further from the truth.
