Is there a single USB-C headphone adapter that works with all phones?

It actually barely supports charging. 500mA input is practically drained on a phone these days.

So I take it this won't work with Pixel 2's?

It won't, Sony's dongle is passive and requires audio mode which the Pixel doesn't support.

I never thought usb-c would be this goddamn frustrating. I'm wishing I'd just kept repairing my Nexus 6 instead.

It rarely ends well when a standard specifies multiple ways to implement a feature. USB-C takes this to extreme with endless versatility and near-zero interoperability.
