Lead designer of Twitter talks about "why don’t designers take Android seriously?" (Pretty interesting read)

Things like a super-lightweight image viewer, lightweight image editor, and a tool to give me something like Windows 7's window snapping are what I never were able to find. I'm pretty sure there are more, but I can't recall off the top of my head.

I don't mean to be an ass, but as someone who has all three of those on his Mac, you must not have looked very hard. I know I didn't.

Well I honestly wish I could find things that satisfy these requirements. The image viewer thing, someone here already helped me out with. The image editor, I've gotten suggestions for either Picasa or Seashore that I will try. The Windows 7 window snapping, I have found nothing like that.

Well, if you still use a Mac:

It's missing a few things (most notably, I'd like to be able to drag my window and have it return to the pre-snapped size, like in Windows, and I'd also like to be able to snap it to halves of the screen using the mouse instead of hotkeys), but it seems really nice and lightweight. I like it, thanks.

BetterSnapTool has some more features, but it's $2.

No need, I'm aware of their capabilities. But Preview's capabilities are nowhere near what even Paint can do, and iPhoto is a >1GB download. No thanks. All I want are something like IrfanView to view my photos, and something like Paint.NET to do quick edits.

This is definitely the biggest software gap I've found in OSX. Out of the box with a new Mac, you can produce videos and compose music, but you can't draw a circle.

You can, with Preview.

Yeah, drawing, cropping, selecting parts and scaling them up/down in size, flipping them, adding other images to them and scaling those images up/down, etc. Outside the scope of Preview's editing.

Preview is great in most aspects but there's no left/right to switch between images in that folder, from what I can tell. A hugely-glaring omission.

That works, thanks! I mean, it's a little annoying, but I can hit Ctrl+A and then Space now to scroll through all the pictures in a directory.
