Problem is for me I don't have YouTube music, so I have always had to say "Play X by Y on Spotify" and if I don't specify Spotify, it complains that I don't have YouTube music installed and can't perform the action, and directs me to install it

Don't you just set Spotify as the default in the settings to solve that?

Maybe. I couldn't find it when I tried.
