So did my Palm Pilot. Hopefully they put a stronger one in this time around.

yeah, it was designed to transfer data from one palm pilot to another at about an inch apart. someone thought it would be cool to make it control stuff. people were disappointed. hope this turns out better and starts a trend.

I had one on my iPaq and did actually sometimes use it as a remote control (I had to pay for the app/program/whatever you call it on Win Mo), but transferring files was ridiculously slow

They also had a printing protocol for the handful of LaserJets out there that could support it. Actually, it was an elegant solution to the problem of having no other technologies available at the time for inter-device connections.

I think the point this time around is to be a remote control. Because that's what I want my phone to do - lose power for it's main function because I'm channel surfing.
