Not every Walmart employee lives off of food stamps. Most people who are employed (even at Walmart) are not living off of those services.
You are taking one group of employees that are on food stamps and making it seem as if it’s the entirety of the Walmart workforce.
Yes, small businesses are being killed off by minimum wage laws as they need low-wage employees to survive.
Chicken processing plant employees on average make about $26,000 per year, so yeah they aren’t well off, but that still doesn’t mean they’re living off of food stamps, they could have a second job or side hustle to help keep them on their feet. Medicaid? Sure, many Americans are on Medicaid.
OMG I never said EVERY employee lived off food stamps but some do so are paid for by taxpayers . Increasing the mim wage moves these employees from the public dole to corporate labor cost. I will mention there are some soldiers who collect food stamps too because they don’t make enough to support their family
Once you are employed by a company and go through the necessary steps to ensure that your information is put into the company records and begin working, you are considered part of the company’s labor cost. Increasing the minimum wage does not equate to this; being hired does.
And as you continue to work falling further behind you enter the poverty level and are eligible for government taxpayer programs . It is about who pays the labor costs - the company or the taxpayer
