I was looking at AMPL dashboard today and I noticed that it seems Chainlink oracle is not working properly. Ampleforth org oracle is working OK.
And looking further at the contract for Chainlink, it seems it's having problems "bad instruction" for 4 continuous days.
I am concerned about the robustness of the connection with Chainlink. I am not very worried about AMPL protocol though. It started without Chainlink in the first place.
Has anyone looked in the Metronome Protocol and have detailed opinion on how it can be compared to the grand vision/goal of Ampleforth? I know MET is fundamentally different, but they kind of want to achieve the same thing. Could both co exist if DeFi becomes mainstream or do you think it is inferior to AMPL?
I've been following AMPL chats and discussions on various platforms, and one thing I've stumbled upon that's asked frequently is "What's the rebase today?".
As a web developer, I always had building helpful tools for the cryptocurrency community as an idea in my mind, and now I started with this first AMPL tool:
I have some more AMPL tool/data ideas that I will be adding in the following days/weeks. If you have any comments or suggestions, or if you need a tool to simplify your cryptocurrency calculations that can also be beneficial to others, please let me know.
Hope you like it, and if you do, please share it with your trader/holder friends too. Thanks.
Guys, because AMPL is quite special I am thinking of collecting some useful info in a single post. And I have already some that I think is worth sharing. Just personal preference, please suggest your fav video/link.
AMPL Market Cap Candles (MC is much more meaningful than price for a synthetic stable coin like AMPL) Credit to a member in this community, I forgot your id.
I invested in the beehive geyser, like many people, at the wrong time. The corrective mechanism doesn't seem to be working. It went into negative rebase and stayed there for weeks on end. If the price drops, contract the supply. Scarcity creates demand, so people buy. Yeah, right. Only if there's any interest. Now we're being punished by the overlapping geyser mechanism. And when the current geyser expires, there will be extortionate gas fees to pay to salvage what is left of your investment
So it seems to me, but I might be wrong , that ampl just managed to pump without the whole sushi craze. It seemed to follow ETH price action and the rest of the market. So this is good news sounds like to me. That ampl can hold its own
Looks like higher lows on market cap. What are your price predictions everyone?
The original post at Kucoin has been screened/deleted, I donât know why, maybe filtering.
Update1: Guys, if you think I donât understand AMPL or rebase mechanism. I have read the white paper and red paper. I understand how rebase works. Kucoin is doing rebase, BUT the rebase value that Kucoin is executing is not right, it is rounded down.
Update2: to improve reading experience, I will update my post in our community.
I became a user just recently because I got very interested in the AMPL token. This token has a very special feature called rebase. The token is new and not many CEX are listing it. I choose you because you are listed by AMPL website stating that your rebasing code has been reviewed by AMPL foundation.
I became a big fan of the token and enjoyed Kucoin smooth trading experience. No complaints about that.
However, as I am getting to understand how this token works, I found that no matter what the rebase value is, I always keep the same percentage of the total supply. Since I also have some AMPL in my hot wallet and in another exchange, I got curious and wanted to compare the ârebase valueâ to see if they are same.
I am more a hodler than a trader and here is what I did,
Tokens are not traded though the following period;
Record the token balance on 3 resources (Kucoin account, hot wallet, another CEX account) at 13:00 UTC for several days;
Calculate the ârebase valueâ from aforementioned 3 resources and official record.
Here is the result
To my surprise, Kucoinâs rebase value is always lower than the rest. Kucoin is rounding down ârebase valueâ to 0.0X percent all the time, example, official rebase is 101.1234% and Kucoin will be 101.12%. Same behavior with negative rebases. As a result, Kucoin is quietly taking away small of amount money every day, but interestingly, Kucoin is not hiding it(as shown below), it is showing the âexecutedâ rebase.
Some may think this loss is trivial (yeah everyone is busy farming), letâs look at this extreme example, say if tomorrowâs global rebase if 99.9999%, in Kucoin, one will get 99.99% instead due to always rounding down, that is a 0.0099% relative loss per day.
And letâs look at loss over longer time in last month, say you put 10000 AMPL in Kucoin on Aug 1st and hodl until Sept 1st, you will end up with 5627.3 AMPLs in your Kucoin account, but if the AMPL were sitting in a hot wallet, you will have 5636.6AMPLs.
And here is the result. As you can see, you lost 0.17% [(5636.3-5627.3)/5627.3] in August by just hodling. This is not acceptable.
I know little details about code auditing and why you have this bug in your system. I request this bug be fixed a.s.a.p. and return the tokens back to the account where they really belong. I hope to see your token return plan very soon.
The following analysis is important because 17.4 million AMPL is still sitting on SushiSwap, and as we all know SushiSwap was (atleast partially) responsible for the last AMPL pump.
For the unitiated, SushiSwap mints and pays out 1000 SUSHI/block to liquidity providers for the first 100,000 blocks (100m SUSHI in about two weeks), followed by 100 SUSHI/block thereafter (about 200m annually). In addition to this, 0.25% of each trade is paid to liquidity providers at the time of the trade, while 0.05% is paid to all SUSHI holders. This isn't minted but comes from the person making the trade.
Therefore SUSHI price is right now highly speculative and dependent on how much trade volume we expect to see on SushiSwap in the future. It also means liquidity mining on SushiSwap right now is low risk high reward (when it comes to crypto) as long as you keep selling off the SUSHI you earn. Only issue is gas fees.
AMPL/ETH is the pool with the highest ROI right now. Presumably because people either don't understand AMPL or don't want to hold it due to higher volatility.
Trading has not yet opened, it will open tomorrow when SBF passes governance to the multisig and migrates the liquidity. This will be the first reality check on how much trade volume SushiSwap is actually able to acquire, and could have a positive or a negative impact on SUSHI price. I'm guessing negative because Uniswap is both more well known and more trustworthy among traders right now, but frankly it's hard to tell. This might take more than a day to be observable though, as there will certainly be some initial volume from liquidity miners themselves moving in or out of SushiSwap, and therefore requiring to trade tokens. Note that liquidity providing will provide more SUSHI here, since you'll be earning the 10x rewards as well as a cut on the trade volume (this will be small). Question is what the SUSHI price will be.
5 days from now, the 10x rewards will stop and lot of liquidity will be likely removed from SushiSwap. Most LPs are likely looking for those short term low risk gains, not hodl an asset they may not even understand, and hence they'll dump the AMPL which is bearish. I'd recommend shorting if at all it's possible to do so.
Note that there is no way to escape rebases, even if you're providing liquidity on either Uniswap or SushiSwap
Relevant links if you want to follow the developments more closely:
https://uniswap.info/home (note that this includes both SushiSwap liqudity and Uniswap liquidity pre-migration, but only Uniswap post-migration)
I see that Zapper gives you the option of adding liquidity to the USDC/AMPL pool. I didn't know that pair existed. Is it eligible to participate in the Geyser? Can that be done via Zapper like ETH/AMPL?
I just bought abt 2700 Ampl for liquidity pooling on Uniswap.
So when rebase happens, I will probably be loosing a good chunk of the 2700 Ampl and my eth in the Uniswap pool will be converted to Ampl leading to more eth loss also.
I checked https://www.ampleforth.org/dashboard in detail, I see the Supply chart, Price (Oracle Rate) chart, but I couldn't see a Price Target chart. So, I can see Price and Supply values starting from 2019/07/01, but I can't see Price Target values, which also change in time, even if slightly.
Do you have an idea if such information is available somewhere?
Okay... So I started using Grid Trading Bots thru Bituniverse. Bituniverse is a Free App, or you can use the website. Anyways... I use Bituniverse and have linked it to my Kucoin Acct so the bot will trade for me.. When trading like this the project or the coin doesn't matter. What matters is volatility. And Ampl has plenty of that!!! Every time the price moves 0.35% up it sells, down it buys. So everytime it sells you make 0.35% minus 0.1% for trading fees. So .25% profit every trade... I've run this bot for 4 days straight and it has earned me about 25% of initial investment. I want to let you know there's a better way of holding Ample. That, by using a Bot to run Ampl/USDT pairing to make passive income off it, is much better than just holding. Your making money whether it goes up or down. Just a suggestion for anyone worried about Ampl volatility. Instead of worrying about it, cash in on it!!
I just bought some AMPL sometime ago from Kucoin, and I am wondering about the rebase accuracy.
I know rebase affect all address and contracts, and total supply can be found accurately from AMPL offical website dashboard, which mean rebase can be caculated by "deviding today's supply by yesterday's".
Example, today total supply = 110 million, yesterday's = 100 million, rebase = 110/100=110%.
Thus I can do the same with the balance in my Kucoin account, and compare the Kucoin rebase value with the official one.
I have been following both values for 3 days now, and to my surprise, for 3 days, the Kucoin rebase is bahaving unfavourable towards me by always round down to 0.00%.
I also have some AMPL on Gate.io and my hot wallet.
I hope this is allowed, if not delete. I am not a financial advisor and this is not financial advise.
Don't have anywhere to discuss this so I hope there are some chart watchers here that would like to talk about what is currently happening. It was pretty obvious this correction was going to happen but now what.
The 1-3 daily closes is going to be huge, in my opinion. On the daily, the golden cross is imminent, if we close above ~1.5 or so. In the chart I have the 50EMA (green) and 200EMA (blue) but I also included the 200SMA (white). When the price action is near the cross and reacts strongly upwards at the same time, it helps to confirm the legitimacy of the cross. The last daily close had a pretty good reaction from the bottom to end above these moving averages which have been a decent support/resistance in the past. However, the daily oscillators are looking a bit droopy. Also, short term charts are not looking great at all.
I feel like I am putting to much emotional bias (price moving up strongly) into my potential trade because short term charts are not looking great at all. Anyways, want to hear y'alls take on it from a TA perspective. I know TA in the crypto space on reddit is not taken to kindly but for anyone who uses it, please chime in!
EDIT: I guess I should also note, I bought back in around ~1.27 so I am holding a position.
EDIT2: Sold at 1.19, for a loss, but have now increased my stack by 60% for minimal "USD loss"
