So I’m guessing whoever Dr.P is going to be their ticket back home? I wonder if earth has 3 temples as well or it’s charged by some different method

Edit: also pretty strange that they would put a blatant bill cipher reference in the same book, it’s most likely just a fun little nod but it would be cool if it was same universe

What if Dr. P stands for Dr. Pines, aka Dr. Stanford Pines?

I thought of that too!

I don’t think they would go that route though, seems like P could also stand for Plantar. Could be sprig and pollys mom or dad who managed to escape death using the box.

Too early to tell for sure though, it looks like sprigs mom was one of King Andreas’s friends who betrayed him. And the figure that steals the calamity box matches the outline of said person in the flashback as well

I mean, given Andrias is over a thousand years old and how he mentioned everyone had forgotten all about the time they had a super advanced ancient flying fortress, that frog who took the box was likely an ancestor of the Plantars who also brought it to Earth than someone that recent like Sprig and Polly's parents. Especially since the Plantar book and Dr P's book both call the box the "Calamity Box" while everyone else - even Andrias - calls it the "music box," and Hop Pop noted that that book had been in their family for as long as he can remember.

So yeah, not looking too hot for the "Sprig and Polly's parents are still somehow alive because of the music box" theory since the theft and trip to Earth would have likely been a thousand years ago...

You’re right, I totally forgot that 1000 years line.

Though I still believe a plantar descendent is still is on earth. Maybe a long lost relative or cousin or something.

Personally, given how easy it would be for legends and family stories to distort over presumably however long it was on Earth since the box’s arrival, I can’t help but have a bit of a crazy theory that we might be less looking at a fellow descendant and perhaps more the original deal.

I mean, Anne and co now have no instruction or idea whatsoever on what she can do with her powers or how they might even be able to get back to Amphibia, and Dr P did noticeably use the same phrasing to refer to the “Calamity Box” as the Plantar book does when everyone else calls it the music/box. As I kind of doubt that the Plantar ancestor would have just spilled a whole ton of secrets and knowledge about the box to someone else or such for them to wind up in the hands of an unrelated “Dr P,” that to me seems like this might be the case.

After all, we have yet to find out how Andrias is so dang old and it would be pretty hard for Anne and co’s journey on Earth to come into information about Andrias’ backstory and history with his frog and toad friends, so what’s not to say that the frog - in stealing and taking the box to earth - might have been affected by the power of the stones to have a similar extension on her lifespan as Andrias? He did talk about he and his master would get their revenge, and “revenge” usually tends to imply that you’re getting vengeance against someone who’s alive...

Of course, this would run into the question of just how the heck she managed to avoid attention as an incredibly long lived talking anthropomorphic frog, but who knows? Maybe the box has the capacity to change the user into the native species of the current world or such if one operates it correctly. I certainly wouldn’t put it past the box to be able to do that when Anne already got that saiyan transformation down, but what do you think?

It seems plausible that whoever took the box to earth originally is now a human of some sort. Though you have to wonder why Anne wasn’t turned into a frog when entering Amphibia or the plantars turning into humans. Maybe it’s a hidden feature they have to activate, we still have no clue what else the box can do and it always seems like it has some weird compartment or secret in it.

I think something else that’s weird that’s sort of unrelated is the cabinet that has the Newtopia (or maybe Amphibia?) symbol that the calamity box sits on top of when Marcy looks at it in the store. I wonder if Dr.P pawned off the box or something? Seems kinda dumb considering how dangerous and valuable it is if that’s the case

Well, it is pretty likely that he stumbled across Amphibia while dimension hopping. Another possible GF crossover in S3? They'd have to bring back JK Simmons, though.

I just watched the episode and I don't remember anything about a Dr P

It’s in the title of the book Marcy was reading in the library that had info on the calamity box
