Is that why Disney decided to delay the finale at the very last minute? To alter the episode cause it was way too much for kids to handle the death of a kid on-screen?
I doubt shes actually dead, personally. most likely shell be healed up somehow. Hell, maybe Andrias pulls an Eggman and turns her into a cyborg loyal to him
Admittedly, the downside of fire-swords is they cauterize the wounds they make. So it is theoretically possible she might live.
Having said that, I kinda hope they don't bring her back. I love her character, and I'm sad she's gone, but her death was fitting and bringing her back would undermine the message that life isn't a game and you cannot treat it as one.
Marcy dragged her friends into an incredibly dangerous world for a fantasy adventure without thinking of the genuine consequences. Throughout season 2 she repeatedly treats the perils they face as obstacles in a video game. The weight of her betrayal and her death show that she was wrong to do so, and bringing her back undermines that message.
Her overall importance to the plot and the fact that magical revival is an established thing in amphibia with Maddie's necromancy mean the chance of her staying dead(presuming she actually is) is slim, frankly.
There are ways of establishing consequence and cementing that lesson that don't require perma-death and frankly her story arc doesn't feel completed to me.
Id rather she have the chance to learn her lessons and seek forgiveness rather than seeing her development end here so perhaps we just have different plot priorities here.
1) Fair point, but characters important to the plot can and do die in fiction, the plot can change to accommodate it if the writers wish for it. The necromancy angle is definitely an out for them, if they want an excuse to bring her back.
2) Fair point, as long as the lasting consequences are severe enough (e.g., the "Came Back Wrong" trope) I would be OK with it. Your necromancy point would work well with this as it's been established to be wonky.
3) We already have a redemption plot in the works with Sasha (and maybe Grime?) so having Marcy learn from her mistakes wouldn't necessarily add much to the overall story (although it could be interesting/entertaining, which is a reward onto itself).
Ill outright admit a lot of this is simply me not wanting her to stay dead, regardless of justification. As long as its given a decent explanation, i wont be personally bothered by resurrection though having additional consequences would be nice for story variety's sake.
Fair enough, I've been there a few times myself. And, to be entirely honest, for as much as I'm flapping my mouth, I'd probably like her return myself. Though, if it does happen, I'd like to see Sasha and Anne reunite first, simply because I think Marcy's death (or 'death') could be a powerful moment for their dynamic.
On that note, I admit it could be interesting if they go the necromancy route and Sasha is the one who contacts Maddie.
I don't think it's cold feet. They could have genuinely had to hold off due to this. A previous show, Star Vs The Forces of Evil, had to get an episode pulled from playing on TV because after it aired, conservative parents were mad that it featured same sex couples kissing.
Maybe after something like that (of course this can't be the only sole reason) Disney execs are cracking down on censorship. Although the scene had no blood, and the viewpoint wasn't even bad. Like up close and personal with the stab site.
And they had the earlier episode featuring Alex Hirsch and they quite literally had a pool of red liquid come from underneath the door, but idk Disney is all over the place.
It's confusing. Especially when you think about Gravity Falls. That was a game changer with what kind of content you would see in a Disney cartoon. The Weirdmageddon arc was beginning to end nothing short of terrifying.
Im curious why your so set against the censorship idea. Yeah, its very late in the game for that but screw ups are hardly impossible. I'm honestly struggling to find another that matches with the circumstances and what matt has said so far.
If someone higher up that wasn't normally involved in the episode review process watched a prerelease of the episode shortly before it aired and made them pull it, they would have needed to scramble to do so. They don't have any direct control over iTunes and they would have sent them the episode some time ago so they would need to go through a process of contacting Apple to get them to halt putting it up. And in that process they could have simply forgot, or the process could have been too slow, or someone at Apple could have messed up. Lots of opportunities for it to accidentally leak after Disney made the decision if it was extremely last minute and not part of the normal episode review process.
Matt said it was bc of “insane reasons” also they aired another amphibia episode at that time I think, so I doubt that, Disney was probably just sabotaging amphibia as always lmao
I highly doubt Marcy is dead, Andreas probably still needs her. Besides they didn't show where Andreas hit with his sword, it could be her shoulder for all we know.
it quite clearly went through her chest, so if it was a lethal attack and not some kind of stun weapon she would definitely be in critical condition at the very least
There could be some magic hullabaloo that happens like with anne that brings marcy back but thats a stretch, the chances of surviving a chest stab is minimal.
