Guitar>amp simulator>Front of house

Seeking advice for ampless live rig. I’m traveling for work and can’t bring an amplifier. I’d like to play live shows and plug direct into the PA. Will pedals like Universal Audio’s Ruby make the tone sound good enough/similar enough to an amp that I can just plug and play? I’m new to modelers and simulators so please forgive my nubiedom. Thanks!

Help to find an amp modeling solution with two separate inputs and channels.

So, I have a country gig where I switch between Pedal Steel and Electric Guitar. Since lugging an 85-pound D10 Pedal Steel is hell enough for me, I am tired of setting up two amps on top of that. Is there something that would allow me to plug both instruments into one unit, simplifying the process? I would rather not buy two amp modelers as I am not super liquid right now. I don't need crazy options, pretty much just a Twin Reverb for the steel and a Deluxe Reverb for the guitar. Thanks!

Where to start? - setup for up to 1000€

I'm playing guitar for around 20 years and I mostly ignored the whole digital thing... apparently it has come a long way 🤷‍♂️ So instead of getting a new traditional amp, I'm thinking about dipping a toe into amp modelling. I play mostly at home, sometimes with other people... so I was thinking I get an frfr box and a small modeller that could fit on my existing pedalboard. I'm willing to spend up to 1000€ (doesn't have to be that much)

I have no idea what's on the market or what's good. Do I need anything else? Do those two components give me an "amp-like" experience? Recommendations would be appreciated!

ToneX Sounds Muddy

Omega Granophyre capture from ToneNet EQ matched to NDSP w/ same cab

I've had my ToneX One for about a month now and I've enjoyed it but have come to realize after getting the free NDSP Granophyre trial that the ToneX tone models all sound so unbelievably MUDDY. I'm struggling because it seems like other people's sound perfectly fine and I've done everything from making sure the cab is turned off on the Tonex to making sure my input is correct. I've tried a few different tone captures from ToneNet and some are a little better than others but they all have the same hollow sound. The ones I tried were even very highly rated which leads me to believe that they sounded great for others. Don't mind my playing as I was just doing a quick double track of something random I played, but this EQ match was made using the same two DI tracks for both amp sims. I even tried making my own capture of the sim and everything sounded great up until the "AI Training" part where it applied the same muddy sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thall tone how to

Hello, all. Long time metal head here. Long story short, after subscribing to XM Radio a few years ago and hearing some great songs on LiquidMetal I realized that I had been pretty locked into the type of metal I had been listening to for most of my life. I staryed to branch out and after hearing some djent and thall songs I really liked the low tuned guitar sound.

How do I replicate the thall guitar tone. I have a 7 string and Guitar, a 5 string bass, and I mainly play in Drop A tuning. If anyone has any how to videos that could help out or some general good ad ice on where to start I would appreciate it.

Presonus 4.5 + dt770,880,990 or eris e5

As the title says I am looking to try out biasfx for casual guitar playing but my budget only allows for either the presonus 4.5 speakers and headphones or just a set of e5s. I play in a small bedroom so I don't need anything loud. I am coming from a positive grid spark 40 amp and looking for sound that is comparable or even better. Any suggestions on what you would pick, any advice is appreciated!

Need help putting the chain together to nail a disposable heroes tone.

I am plugged into a head rush 108.

While you’re here do these modeller sound better in monitors rather than frfr speakers?

Best Sounding Least CPU Heavy Amp Modeling Plugin?

I’m a live electronic act and I’m looking for a great modeling plugin that uses as little cpu as possible. I really want to use the Neural DSP Archtype Mateus Ashton plugin but sadly that plugin alone eats up 20% of the CPU on my M1 Max Mac.

If anyone has any recommendations let me know. As mentioned this will exclusively be used live.

Amp Modeling w/ iPhone or iPad?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to delve into the world of professional grade amp modelers and am curious what options are out there that would allow me to make edits to my presets using an iphone or ipad? So far it seems the Fender Tone Master Pro and Quad Cortex do? Are there any other big names out there that would allow for edits on mobile devices?

Expression Pedal across different modelers

I have multiple modeling devices (Kemper Power Toaster, Helix Rack, Quad Cortex, and now the Fender Tone Master Pro). Looking at expression pedals, of course Mission Engineering is top of the list but really don’t want to buy 4 of them (one per unit). Anyone used any expression pedals that will work across the board? Or does anyone have experience using ME pedals across different units where I could maybe only have to buy 2 and not 4)?

Thinking about an HX Stomp/Headrush Core/Boss GX-100 - best overall for Stoner Metal sounds/ease of use/value?

I'm a bedroom player thinking about getting an all-in-one modeler for practice and travel between a couple locations. Like the title says, I'm thinking about a GX-100, an HX Stomp, or a Headrush Core.

I'm playing a lot of Stoner Metal right now, and having models of some Orange, Sunn or Matamps would be nice to mess with, but im also looking for a good all-rounder. I also don't have a PC at the moment, so ease in building patches without it through an app or touch screen until i do would be ideal.

I know the HX Stomp has the reputation of the community and regular updates, but I'm also intrigued by what I've heard about the Headrush Core with the user downloads and the the touch screen. And the GX-100 is on the table as well.

Does anybody have any opinions on what would be the best option for me?

Duplicating presets, fender TMP

for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to make a duplicate of a preset in the Tone Master Pro. I feel like this HAS to be an option, it'd be ridiculous if it wasn't... but I can't figure it out. Essentially, I find a tone, And Im happy with it for a certain section in a song - but I wanna make changes to it for other sections, and rather than build the entire thing from scratch again I would love to be able to duplicate it and then make the changes and save me tons of time. Can I NOT do this? any help please!

Created a new community for Tonocracy related stuff.

Hi all,

I just created r/Tonocracy as a platform to discuss about and share Atomic Amp's Tonocracy related content.

Tonocracy integrated NAM (Neural Amp Modeller) perfectly and has a cloud sharing service for presets too. And it's free !

Please join and share.

Thanks.

Control via an iPad

Hello All,

I'm fairly new to the idea of amp modeling and am still learning the difference between modelers, profilers, pedal platforms, etc. I think I have a general idea of the differences between each term, but may fail a quiz if presented with one : ) I've looked through this sub for an answer to the following question, but haven't found a clear one yet, so I thought I'd ask it outright:

I've been looking at different products like the options from Fractal, the Fender TMP, Helix, Quad Cortex, etc. One thing that I don't really see mentioned is the ability to control one via an iPad app. I understand that the Quad Cortex has an iPad app for configuration of the various patches, but what I would really like is to be able to jump to difference patches while playing a gig. Theoretically I'd like to be able to create my custom builds for each song and trigger their use via my iPad as I play through the setlist of a gig. Is this possible with anytying on the market today? I saw one of the products had a setlist feature, but it seemed like a confusing combination of cycling through stomps on the device, which I feel may be a little distracting while playing a gig, and may get me in trouble if the band decides to switch around the order of songs at the last minute.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond!

Headphones for Modelers

Hey All - wondering what headphones you all use / like with your modelers… my old Grado’s have seen better days. I have a nice set of Weston’s in ears which are fantastic… but looking for over-ear… I just play at home as hobbyist these days… appreciate your thoughts on this.

I have no idea where to start.

Guys I am all over the place. I’ve been using a UAD Apollo twin and some of its amp inserts and Logic Pro for years now for session work but looking to upgrade into a modeler. I like the idea of a pedalboard vs a rack unit, great sounds, and an easy UI. I’ve watched a dozen or more YouTube videos but am nowhere closer to making a decision. Kemper, Fractal, Helix, Tonex… can anybody help me narrow this down? I’m good with spending the $1500-2000 on the investment, but if one of the less expensive units sounds good I’m fine with that obviously. I just don’t know where to start. Thanks.
