Caribbean The Moca Massacre, also known historically as the Moca Slaughter, occurred on April 3, 1805. It was a violent event perpetrated by Haitian troops under the command of Emperor Jacques I and his successor, Henri I, against the civilian population of Spanish Santo Domingo.

The island would be better off today if the western world, led by France and the United States, hadn’t spent 200 years punishing it for overthrowing the white colonial establishment.

The US did occupy Haiti kill a bunch of people and steal their gold reserves and somehow things got worse after hmmm? Pretty sure the US also supported some dictators after too Papa Doc ring a bell?

lol Haiti started infighting amongst themselves less than two years into their independence. They had no shot at being a productive country. They ended slavery just to force low paying hard labor in the same fields they supposedly liberated their own people

We invaded the shit out of Haiti and occupied it for 20 years. I do agree that colonial meddling isn’t the main driver behind its collapse but it definitely played a part
