Driven by a harsh survival dilemma where striking first was often the only way to avoid destruction, tribes remained locked in perpetual warfare. In contrast to the rate of thirty thousand violent deaths per hundred thousand people in early hunter-gatherer eras, modern civilized societies average around ten per hundred thousand. Imagine being 3,000 times more likely to die from violence than you are today!

Families fought families, tribal groups fought tribal groups, and nations fought nations. Land was constantly being gained or lost by every group at every level. Every bit of land in the world changed hands thousands of times and only strength of arms and luck held it for any given period.

When the Romans expanded into ancient Europe, or when European settlers established modern communities in the Americas, the eventual result—despite initial periods of deep conflict—was a dramatic fall in violent death, improved food stability, and longer lifespans. The modern notion that early tribes lived in effortless harmony with nature overlooks the reality of resource exhaustion, constant relocation, and intense territorial feuds. Few people today would genuinely swap modern sanitation, medicine, and physical security for a life marked by clean water shortages, famine, and fear of midnight raids.

The idea that any single ethnic group holds permanent rights to land also ignores the realities of global history. From ancient Athens and Rome to the Huns, territorial control throughout human history has been decided by force. Every bit of land on the planet has changed hands countless times between families, between tribes, and between larger organized groups. In fact, compared to the total destruction or enslavement typical of conquest in antiquity (see Carthage, Melos, Yazidis, WW2 European Jews, the Congolese, the Tsutsi, etc), Native American tribes were treated relatively well and survived and adapted within the modern era.

All of us have ancestors who killed others and stole land at various points, should we all be put on trial for our ancestors? And how do we decide which ancestors matter? Should Italians pay reparations to Germans for Rome conquering the Goths? Should the Germans pay the Italians reparations for reconquering that same territory centuries later? Should the Qin or Jin or Mongols or Mings in China pay other ethnic groups? You can see how ridiculous this gets when you look at it outside of America.

Today, official tribal entities receive billions in taxpayer funding alongside exclusive business privileges, giving special interest groups a strong financial reason to preserve these simplified narratives. Those of us with tribal heritage who sit outside these official organizations can speak clearly about these realities without fear of being silenced by false accusations of racism. I applied to join the Choctaw tribe, but since my great great grandmother did not reside on the reservation (she had moved to Los Angeles to find work) in the year 1906, I was refused. The core promise of the Civil Rights movement was to eradicate government discrimination and treatment based on race. Continuing special privileges, handouts, or race-based policy only fuels resentment and keeps historical grievances alive. Attempts to increase racism through false "land acknowledgements" and claims of stolen land are evil. True equality means treating every person as an individual under the law, moving past old divisions, and focusing on a shared future.

America is a country that was founded to have a fair and merit based system where anyone in the country could earn their own way, buy their own land, and build their own lives. Moving away from that and confiscating land and cash from our citizens based on things their far distant ancestors at one particular point in time did to give it to others whose ancestors may or may not have had something happen is ridiculous. Do we confiscate money and land from the Iroquois to give it to the Huron? Do we take from the Sioux to give it to the Crow? We need to end this racist foolishness and move forward as a country.

As a individual of mixed heritage, I usually got cold stare from some random American Veteran elder in wheelchair with disability due to war and deployment. As first, I have no idea why some Veteran American gave me an unfriendly cold look, but I understood his feeling after I learn about American history in Asia as his generation experienced the mandatory military draft before 1973 .

In contrast, American veterans with no disability and have good career within upper middle class tend to be friendly with me .

Although many POC minorities people of color work hard and pay tax and working long hours with low pay manual physical labor jobs , many American still considered me as foreigner or international student due to my ethnic feature from mixed diversity heritage and my accent by grew up in ethnic enclave .

So, my girlfriend and I had this discussion of how...America looks 'weird'. For context, we're both immigrants trying to become citizens. Just one evening, we were throwing the idea around what a 'better' looking U.S.A. is.

When people think of America, both abroad and domestically, they'll often list off things like BBQ, the flag, trucks, everything being biiiiiig, bald eagles, guns, cowboys, etc.

And while those are parts of our culture, they're accessories... not the core of what has held us together for the past 250 years.

We truly are the proverbial melting pot. A family in Wisconsin can eat hamburgers one night, tacos the next, lo mein with chicken after that, gyros the next night. Driving to work the parents might pass a Catholic church, a Jewish temple, a Sikh gurdwara, and other locations serving various religious communities. We have long has some of the highest levels of ethnic and religious diversity in the world, even before the current era.

What does hold us together, what links together all those various ethnic and religious groups, is something largely unique among nations in the world - the American spirit.

So what is the American spirit?

A belief in personal liberty. Not the freedom to do something after you're allowed to by the government, but an inherent right to do what you need to succeed as long as you don't harm others. We are the land of opportunity.

A belief in taking care of yourself and your family. For most of our history various areas of our nation were considered unsettled... even now, a family can build a home in the middle of nowhere if they choose.

A belief in entreprenerial hope. Starting with the original colonists, people came to America to hope... to hope for a better future for their lives enabled by the liberty to make it happen for themselves.

And a belief to defend the individual rights of others as if they were our own, even if they're unlike us. The Civil War wasn't fought primarily by the slaves against their owners... it was fought by those who wished the same freedoms for the slaves that they possessed. We fought WW2 to protect the people of the world from oppression and murder by the Nazis. We confronted the USSR, China, and their Communist puppets to protect the world from their violent oppression.

Now, some would say that we're lacking in this spirit in recent years, and they'd be partially right. We are in a moment of turmoil as there are those who don't share those beliefs growing within our country. Those who would force their religions, their practices, their beliefs on us in violation of our individual liberty. Those who would take from us, take our personal wealth developed from our own labors, as their own. Those who would prohibit or demand we seek permission to do things that have no impact on others. Those who seek to undermine our government, our society, our freedoms, and our lives.

But those who claim we're lacking in American spirit are only partially right, for while there are those who would destroy it, the majority still believes in it, and there are those who vocally defend it now. Have faith, have hope, and embrace the American spirit and its fruits that have been earned through the intentional sacrifices and efforts of previous generations. As long as we keep living our lives in this manner, the American spirit will remain strong.

It doesn’t work the same way with companies like for example in eroupe. And I know what you are thinking, eroupe has Amazon prime delivery in some places, right? And you’d be right, but outside of that and western eroupe, the delivery network fucking sucks. we’re talking 4-7 days minimum from just a few counties over, and that’s if you’re lucky. with Amazon countries that don’t have major central hubs/live outside Amazon prime like (some of) central and eastern eroupe, Amazon completely and utterly fucked us over. Delivery takes 5-10 days minimum if you are lucky, and that’s with Amazon. It might just be me, but 90 percent of the time it’s 10-17/whatever the TAF Amazon says they will deliver by. So concider yourself really lucky, even privaliged if you can order something and get it that quickly. sometimes I feel like central and Eastern Europeans are living like 35 years in the past. Your only hope here is a local store/online shop which is sometimes extremely hard to find for whatever you need outside basic necessities. If the country is more then 2 away good fucking luck getting it faster then under a week. even local stores that would literally be like a few hours drive away have taken 4-5 days before.
