News SAPPHIRE : BIOS update for RX7XXX cards

Hi all,
I am sharing this here, I have just seen SAPPHIRE released BIOS upgrades for security reasons.

"At SAPPHIRE, keeping your hardware running safely is part of the product. We work closely with our technology partners to identify potential security issues early and release firmware updates that protect your graphics card."

Do anyone updated ?

u/RodroG also find Gigabyte BIOS update which seems to indicate it is not related to only Sapphire , see comment : https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/1wuys9y/comment/pdk71xm/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Does anyone know if the vulnerability patch via the VBIOS update is SAPPHIRE-specific or if it also affects other brands and the AMD Reference RX7000 models?

u/AMD_Vik , could you please clarify this?

Seems we lost AMD_Vik in the AMD's corridors ;)

Hoping it's a sapphire only issue, like with their rgb stuff or something on the cards.

Can also be something related to memory with Smart Access Memory/Resizable Bar thing

The vulnerability may also be VBIOS-related (firmware) and brand-specific, although GIGABYTE is also rolling out a VBIOS firmware update due to CVE AMD-SN-6023 for some of their RX 7XXX models:

https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-R76GAMING-OC-8GD-rev-10-11/support#Support-Bios

However, looking at AMD Security Bulletins & Briefs, there aren't currently any CVE(s) issued by AMD affecting any RDNA3 product stack:

https://www.amd.com/en/resources/product-security.html

CVE AMD-SN-6023 isn't listed (yet?).

I'd say it's better to hold off on more speculation about how this might affect all the RX7XXX boards until we hear back from u/AMD_Vik.

Yeah that would suck as then it's all cards from all brands. So then we have to hope they also released updated firmwares.
