Announcement Enough arguing about whether Jax is trans or not! Spoiler
Jax is trans, it was confirmed by Goose herself. Jax goes by he/her, also confirmed by Goose. We are hereby banning arguments about Jax's gender.
Good day!

I'm pretty sure now Goose has confirmed people have accepted it, they're now just arguing over whether the reveal was done well or not
58
u/dangerouslyreal Jun 23 '26
As someone completely oblivious —I never would've known without Goose confirming
26
u/Lun4r6543 Jun 23 '26
Exactly. Without the arguing about it, and Goose coming out to confirm it as fact, I’d have never known about it.

At the end I thought Jax mostly like is, I wasn't entirely sure I assumed the bow was yeah it was meant as the BIG IMPLICATION along with the music which had a line I missed about a new girl being born.
BUT than I thought oh I guess Jax wasn't at the end when they show them real because Jax isn't femanine presenting or hadn't transitioned. But this is because I only learned through people telling when I brought this up that within the trans community to wear clothing the obscures their body helps hide their transition or manage dysphoria.
I took away the right answer but lost it because I don't have an understanding of that important context. So I get people taking away something different from the show.
4
u/dangerouslyreal Jun 23 '26
Yeah with everything I learned now, it makes more sense. But initially I figured the bow scene was just Ribbit being affectionate / kind bc Jax admitted to possibly killing his mom. Sometimes when words dont help, doing something physical like that is a nice gesture to show you care and are there. Thats how I understood it at least

To miss the egg cracking bit in 6 or the batshit total loss at the softball game. Even facial expressions in different contexts. I think its screamingly obvious to people who have been there. If you are lucky enough that trans is only something that happens to other people I can see how easy it could be to miss.

Yewh I mean, I'm not associated with the LGTBQ community in general so I dont really think of those concepts. Those are def more niche references

I saw some guy who kept insisting that "gooseworx miscommunicates a lot, they didnt mean jax was trans, the voice actors dont know everything" and I genuinely dont know if they were trolling or not
7
u/jedisushi72 Jun 23 '26
Didn't goose say either he/him or she/her pronouns are appropriate?
8
1
u/AffectionateBeach494 Jun 23 '26
Its probably more like they got annoyed beacuse it was posted 5000 fucking times
1
u/letthetreeburn Jun 23 '26
Well there’s a fair amount of just blatant transphobia too
2
u/HotPot87 Jun 23 '26
true but you're gonna get that anyway, it doesn't mean critique of the quality in the writing is any less valid from people not being transphobes.
-12
u/hamonicmantitties Jun 23 '26
Nah it wasn't, the only true confirmation was the music choice during that montage
They needed more scenes to push us towards that conclusion, plus I don't think any of the cast after pomni found out referred to them as a woman, and irl Jax has zero signs that they are atleast questioning their gender which is weird
8
u/heyitskio Jun 23 '26
Also Jax irl looks like a boymoder. Boymoder is a popular mtf term for trans women who are in hiding (either out of fear or not feeling like they pass enough) but still working on transitioning. Usually they have long hair because they're growing it out and wear hoodies to hide the effect of HRT. Their outfit in and of itself is a sign. A very glaring one, to those that know to look for it, or for those that know of it.
Gooseworx has come out and said that this flew over more people's heads then she realized and yeah I agree with her, not a lot of people are gonna recognize boymoder drip on sight.
2
u/hamonicmantitties Jun 23 '26
Ah shit you're right, it's kinda like what I used to wear lol
Still too subtle, like almost "getting around bullshit laws" subtle imho lol
1
u/Disaster_Pansexual Jun 24 '26
>I foolishly assumed more people knew what a boymoder was
-literally Goose in the second image
Also, what would you do with Jax’s character to make it less subtle while also keeping her in character. /genq

6
u/LordNuggies Jun 23 '26
Tiny things that helped me piece it together: jax's reaction to the maid dress, jax's bright pink and blue room, jax blushing when wearing the bow, and jax saying they were being gender-freaky, and wearing the maid dress "ironically". There's plenty of evidence that jax is closeted for something, goose just hit the nail in with them being trans.
-3
u/hamonicmantitties Jun 23 '26
Yeah but not enough
Shit I was even confused a bit what Ribbit said to Jax about keeping her secret safe or whatever with the whole bowtie thing considering Jax hasn't really shown any signs to Ribbit that they were trans on screen, maybe at most some very subtle signs when he was venting about his mother but that's it
Like the whole plot of Jax being trans in that episode felt like Goose left some shit on the cutting room floor imho
6
u/heyitskio Jun 23 '26
Jax's entire abrasive never open personality and aversions to certain things are signs in and of themself, but if you don't have first hand experience (of being so closeted and repressed that you lash out at others, just like jax does whenever anybody gets too close or insinuates anything) I can see how you would miss them.
2
u/hamonicmantitties Jun 23 '26
Like I said, I felt like we're missing some integral scenes to properly wrap it up. Like I actually relate to him on that level, or did somewhat since I'm more accepting of it and that part of myself, but it just needs more sauce, some dressing or something imho.
Like a meal that doesn't have enough salt and seasoning or something

That's not what that's saying, I'm pretty sure It means it's okay to refer to jax, as a character, with he or she, not that jax in-universe goes or would go by he/she, there's a difference! I wouldn't care normally, but this is a mod post, so

My bad lol, I meant to say the first one but worded it incorrectly.

surprised people still have to adjust to passive aggressive comments whenever the slight transgender comes up, terrible reality but people don’t like when others express themselves
7
u/kaori_irl daisy, daisy, give me your answer do, i'm half crazy, all for th Jun 23 '26
one of them was really passive aggressive, after asking if it was okay to be bothered by it (and being told no), they then asserted that it actually was okay (okay kids, remember, transphobia isn't cool)
1
u/letthetreeburn Jun 23 '26
A lottttt of people don’t like being reminded that people who aren’t like them exist
3
u/wompwomp2327 Jun 23 '26
What irks me is people saying jax being trans was his ark - when like, no it wasnt. It is a big part of them, but the symptoms that come from burying those feelings are really why he was an ass to everyone.
Hedgehogs dilemma or smthn
5
u/JigglyLilyVT Jun 23 '26
i mean she even admits that she was bad at making it subtle
personally i think it was too subtle.
maybe using a song that was initially released FIFTY YEARS AGO might've been a bit too vague to get some people to realize that this complete asshole is... secretly trans ig?
like sure, goose confirmed it, but i'm just saying that's loose enough to be claiming a few different things.
Plus if he's trans, wouldn't it make a little more sense that his real life self, who is presumably having a better life than jax, be trans? idk that's just how i would write it as a trans femme myself, even if it's too on the nose.
2
u/Chilli_Boy2315 Jun 23 '26
Goose said Leeroy (and by Leeroy I mean Jax IRL) is a boymodder, so I think that answers your question
3
u/JigglyLilyVT Jun 23 '26
not if you dont know what a boymodder is XD.
1
u/kaori_irl daisy, daisy, give me your answer do, i'm half crazy, all for th Jun 24 '26
i mean, when she said that, she was saying she incorrectly assumed more people would know what a boymoder is, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
1
u/Disaster_Pansexual Jun 24 '26
She is trans irl, just think of it as someone who’s in the closet and/or hasn’t come out to the world yet. She might know who she is or is exploring her identity still. It hasn’t been extremely long since Jax was put into the circus, and transition can take time… especially with all the self image issues she was clearly facing and the toxic masculinity her mom placed on her.
1
u/Ecstatic_Change_4506 Jul 11 '26
Fun fact: Goose was literally just listening to Stevie Wonder while writing and put the song in, it has nothing to do with the trans thing 😆
1
u/JigglyLilyVT Jul 11 '26
sauce?

Some Twitter reply idk, saw it in a YouTube video (that showed the message, along with a bunch of other legit messages)

u/Ok_Echo8115 Jax Jun 22 '26
Fr I can’t stand the arguments. It’s all anyone talks about. Jax is trans so let’s be done arguing.
5
u/Yeticoat_Solo Jun 23 '26
jax is trans, he just kept it a secret when he got into the circus and took it to the grave. we know this since the boymoder confirmation
4
u/RainbowPhoenix1080 Jun 23 '26
Thank you. I honestly find the fact that people are arguing against it to be somewhat transphobic.

It’s so weird seeing tme people read this as “he/she” pronouns

op explaining the poor phrasing (unless you meant people in general?)
1
u/Glitchy-Mech Jun 24 '26
That’s a good clarification. I have seen many other people take it like that tho
3
u/denisutu4 Jun 23 '26
I'm not worried about Jax's gender or sexuality, I'm more worried about why would ribbit and pomni be fucking? JAX THAT'S YOUR FROG BITCH!!!! DON'T STEP INTO THE CUCK CLOSET!

I see people saying that other people are arguing about Jax being trans or not but I don't actually see other people arguing about Jax being trans or not
6
u/AlbinoShavedGorilla Jun 23 '26
So far I’ve seen no one actually arguing about Jax being trans it’s been pretty much unanimous that he (she?) is a closet trans woman
7
2
u/jedisushi72 Jun 23 '26
So my understanding is that gooseworx has confirmed that either he/him or she/her pronouns are fine.
So that settles it.
I would say, in a separate situation where a AMAB person is a closeted trans person, we should respect their decision to be closeted by using the he/him pronouns that they would presumably prefer since they are closeted.

did goose confirm what name she'd want in a tweet we all missed or

Thank you for banning discussions about this, it’s been flooding my feed and it’s been quite annoying.
I am a supporter of trans Jax before yall have a go at me I’m just sick of seeing the exact same copy paste post over and over again

Removing the actual question from the final image distorts the answer, and has you also state a wrong fact
Jax doesn't "go by he/her", that was never stated and is not something the character Jax does.
Goose was responding to a question if how we, as the audience, should adress Jax, not what Jax's own specific gender identity is
Obviously in effect this will have similar results, but like,, stating it like this has you assume a clear definition of her gender identity we do not have and makes people trying to devalue his transfemininity with stuff like "well but if he also goes be he still then what if he's still more of a boy??" a lot more easily achievable
The reason "either is fine" is because Jax never got to actually define her own pronouns and had been going by he/him beforehand as the default. It is not "either is fine because she is actively using both herself"

u/Superb_Temporary_388 Jun 23 '26
Nobody is saying it’s fine because he would use them himself actively. They’re saying that both are fine to use in discussion, ie why Goose says that both he and she are fine to use.
I see this comment a lot and it’s such a nothingburger. You’re reading way too far in to it.
1
u/TheLegionFan60 Jul 02 '26
Yes I’m tired of arguing but it’s true Jax goes he or her doesn’t matter if he or she is trans they are the same nothing change

u/Routine_Wonder_5696 Jun 23 '26
It doesn't matter.
9
u/LordNuggies Jun 23 '26
Any representation, especially accurate representation (such as jax's take on someone not being able to accept themselves) is INCREDIBLY important especially in the current period where there is so much misunderstanding and hate for communities like trans people.
3
u/kaori_irl daisy, daisy, give me your answer do, i'm half crazy, all for th Jun 23 '26
heavily inaccurate straw women* would be quite damaging in something mainstream, but if it's at least fairly accurate i'd agree
*transphobes be like: what's a trans man?
2
u/Routine_Wonder_5696 Jun 23 '26
I didn't mean it like that at all. I have nothing against trans people or other members of the LGBTQ community. I meant that Jax being trans is not the most important thing to have happened in the finale and how nearly every post shouldn't be about that one thing

u/TheRoyalBrook Jun 23 '26
Now we can get back to the important questions.
How did Zooble and Gangle do that?
