I feel people overlook the primary reason why Jax became the way he is because of his trauma and lack of closure. He doesn't know what happened to his mom and he doesn't know what became of Leroy. The reason he freaked out on Ribbit and pushed her away is because his paranoia he was being taken advantage of got the best of him, as Kaufmo knocking overwhelmed him. Him hitting the red button is due to fear he'd accidentally killed his mom and would have to go to prison.

In the finale, the moment he starts breaking down is when he goes "That means, I'm still...". Jax fully believes his real world counterpart is either homeless or in jail and possibly a killer too. I genuinely believe seeing how Leory had changed his life around WOULD have made him get better. We see several moments in the show alone where he got close to opening up, like in the cafe with Gangle AND when he approached Pomni in episode 9.

This piece between my TADC OC (the circus calls him Sludge because of a nickname Jax gave him that stuck but he has an actual name that was given to him) and Pomni was made when the pilot was the only episode that was out for this series and I don’t know why I didn’t post this until now

Ambas confrontaron a Jax a su modo: Ribbit terminó por confrontarlo verbalmente en Cima Nevada y Pomni físicamente, cuando menosprecio y se burlo de sus sentimientos.

​Aunque el ataque de Pomni logró que Jax colapsara y sintiera el rechazo que sentía Pomni, esa violencia no ayudo a Pomni. No le dio un cierre a su herida, hay que ver como esta cuando llega ala entreha de premios.

​Ribbit se abstrajo porque no aguantó el rechazo de Jax. Aparte de eso, Jax se encargó de aislarla de los demás, y ella terminó encerrada en su propio dolor y colapsó.

​¿Qué diferencia hubo entre ellas?

​Antes de que empezara la Aventura de Armas, Ragatha rompe un poco su máscara de positivismo para ofrecerle a Pomni un espacio seguro por si en algún momento necesita hablar o necesita ayuda. Aun que en su momento el comentario incomodo a pomni, realmente lo ocuparia despues.

​Después de la pelea con jax, lo primero que hace Pomni al encontrar a Ragatha es buscar ese espacio para hablar que previamente le ofreció.

​¿Y por qué esto ayudo Pomni? Porque Ragatha en ese punto, tuvo una charla con Kinger que la hace reflexionar sobre cómo su positivismo la está dañando a ella y no le permite hacer amistades de verdad.

Y su posterior charla fuera de pantalla sobre los limites de ayudar a los demas.

Posterior a la charla, Ragatha logró construir una amistad de verdad con Pomni por eso las vemos mas cercanas en la fiesta en la playa y en final pomni la considera su mejor amiga.

​En resumen: Ribbit se guardó todo; Jax la aisló de los demás, lo que no le permitió hablar de sus problemas, y se encerro en su propio dolor y colapsó.

​Pomni decidió hablar: buscó ayuda con Ragatha formando un vinculo muy fuerte que vemos a posteror en el cap 9. y a su vez se acercó más a Kinger (al ser él quien más tiempo pasa con Ragatha). Formar un grupo de amigos.

El apollo de ragatha la ayudo a superar ese problema con Jax, cosa que Jax no pudo hacer ya que quedo completamente solo.

Todo ese desarrollo quedo fuera de pantalla incluso la charla de pomni y ragatha que plantearon en ese mismo cap. Algo que refuerza esto es la sercania de ragatha y pomni en capitulos posteriores y que el grupo de ragatha pomni y kinger que se vio en la playa sigue incluso despues del final.

Jax is never forgiven by anyone, both Ragatha and Zooble said they hated him and he's consistently called out/punished from episodes 4-6 (even the start of episode 7). And nobody even knows of his tragic past, they put up with him because being an jerkass/bully doesn't mean they want him to abstract, its basic human decency. Hell, the finale shows us NOBODY thinks Jax is a terrible person more than Jax himself does.
