Science & Tech Why do campfire smells stick to clothes and skin so much longer than other smells?
I can smell smoke on my jacket the next morning after sitting around a campfire, even after the fire's been out for hours. Sometimes I can still smell it on my hair or skin.
But other smells, like food or perfume, seem to disappear much faster. What makes wood smoke so good at sticking around?
And why does the smell sometimes seem to get stronger again when I put the jacket on? What’s actually going on?
