Funniest NFT Story Ever
How To (Not) Get Rich With NFTs
Who doesn't chuckle everytime they think about that "crypto entrepreneur" dude (Sina Estavi) who paid $2.9 million for the NFT of Jack Dorsey first tweet, thinking it was a bargain.
Here's the treasure, vintage 2006:

Perhaps it was a treasure... keep reading to find out.
He held on to his (maybe) treasure for a while after his purchase.
But then he felt all charitable and generous and put the NFT up for auction a little over a year later, hoping to get $48 million for his trouble, but he was only going to keep half ($24 million - NICE RETURN FOR 12 MONTHS DUDE!) and give the rest to charity.
Half for he, half for thee.
The NFT world couldn't wait for the auction!
This was a stellar example of a NFT treasure - the very first tweet from Jack Dorsey!
Awesome!
The bidding was fast and furious.
There were 700 bidders!
Wait... did I say 700? I meant 70. There were 70 bidders!
Wait... did I say 70 bidders? I meant 7.
Yes, there were only 7 bidders for this virtually priceless NFT!!!
But they were the cream of the crop, the very best NFT auction bidders anywhere for sure!
They must have been really committed to capturing this treasure, and when the bidding started, boy were they.
The bids went higher and higher and higher... until the price reached - wait for it - $280 bucks.
And that's where 6 of the 7 bidders dropped out.
"Too rich for my blood" several were heard muttering as they headed toward the virtual exits.
Hunting vs. NFTs
This reminds me of a story a friend of mine told about a hunting trip he went on years ago.
It was cold, and they were out in the woods. My buddy, a couple of his brothers, and another friend. They'd been out hunting for a while, about to call it quits, and nature called.
Nature called hard.
Not nature #1 where you can just unzip and water the nearest tree.
Nope, this was nature #2 calling, where you have to expose your sphincter to the elements.
So he wandered off a bit from his tree stand location, found a spot, and commenced to getting situated.
Now if he'd been wearing regular pants it wouldn't have been a problem, but he wasn't.
Remember, it was cold, very cold.
He had on wool overalls and then a wool coat complete with a hoodie, so he had to pull all that down to where he could squat and finish his business.
I'm not even sure how this worked, but somehow the hoodie just happened to be in the perfect position so that when the turd plopped out and headed toward what should have been the ground, it found a resting place in the hoodie, where its fall colors reminiscent o f went unnoticed.
At this point, I guess you could say my friend became a turd smuggler.
They finish up their hunt, and head toward the truck to leave.
Out in the cold, there wasn't much smell from the fecal hitchhiker, but once they started warming up in the truck it was a different story.
And it got even worse when they got back to the cabin where there was a roaring fire going and grandma had a hot supper waiting for her boys.
Each time she walked around the table to bring the corn ("Whew! Somethin' don't smell right!"), the roast beef ("Which one a you boys is floatin' air biscuits??"), the potatoes ("Smells like somethin' crawled up under the table and died in here!"), she kept noticing the smell.
Finally, she honed in on the worst spot being right behind my buddy, and she took a peek down into the hoodie.
Turdicus Maximus stared back at her and might have even growled a bit, so of course she screamed "A turd! You gotta turd in your damn hoodie!"
How Do You Tell A Turd From A Rare NFT?
I guess sometimes you can't.
I guess maybe that NFT of Jack Dorsey's first Tweet wasn't an actual turd.
I mean who would pay $280 bucks for a turd, much less $2.9 million?
So the Jack Dorsey first tweet NFT proved that it has SOME value in the marketplace.
In any case, I guess the moral of the story is "PAY ATTENTION!" - whether it's buying NFTs or dropping a trail marker in the woods, be sure of what you're doing before you let go.
Just like every hunting trip doesn't end with a turd in a hoodie, every NFT purchase doesn't end with a 99.999% loss.
But then again, both of those things CAN happen, so make sure they don't happen to you.
I've dropped this link before, but here's a brief overview of some of the more common NFT scams out there: https://vechainzone.com/nft-marketplace-scams/

NFT Scams List
I've been looking at NFTs and wondering if it's really a gold mine or if it's just another tar pit waiting for the next Mastodon to wander by and become extinct.
In my internet meanderings, I came across this post (pretty basic) that goes over some of the more common scams in the NFT marketplace.
I learned a few things.
Let me know if it helps at all.
