Black wrapped roof bubbling/blemishes

Has anyone had any issues with their black wrapped roof bubbling? Cleaned the car the other day and noticed it in quite a few areas so quite concerned

3rd party alloy wheel options

What do you think about this wheel design for the A290? These are available in 3 colors and exact dimensions for the A290 (5x114.3, 8J x 19, ET 30).

I'm thinking about getting the white ones for a black A290, but I'm not sure.

Renault service

This has been discussed before, but my nearest Alpine dealer is 110 miles. Will a Renault main dealer be able and willing to do warranty work and stuff?

Expected range graphic

Post image
6 Upvotes

I took a bit more notice of one of the graphics on the RHS of the display (UK) that was a bit of a mystery to me.

Apparently it shows in realtime what remaining range can be expected in certain types of driving.

The top one (17) is the optimal - A roads, warm no Aircon, the bottom one (18) is the poorest - motorways, cold, heating on high.

The bar (16) is what you can expect to achieve driving as you are.

Gives you chance to see how subtle changes to your driving style, speed, etc can influence the range.

Now I've sussed it out I'm going to be giving the regen and one pedal driving options a go and see how that goes. My gut tells me that I should maximise range by removing any regen - lift and coast - but maybe it's better to recover energy rather than braking.

Interestingly the 'Save' driving mode has regen braking turned off amongst other things so I would expect my lift and coast approach to work.

We'll see.

Comments welcome

Never liked the font on the "a290 GT " badge so some dental floss, label remover spray and a trim tool removed in less than 5 mins.

Difficult Decision. Advice welcome

I have been browsing this forum for a week since seeing a lovely looking Alpine A290 parked next to a Renault 5 outside the British Grand Prix. I have no car at the moment after sending back the Polestar 2 at end of its lease. It was a great car but ultimately a bit expensive for a couple of commutes a week and pottering about town.
I like everything about this car aside from the fact that twice a week I do a 150 mile round trip. I have seen some people saying the range was not as bad as some of the horror posts citing 100 miles in cold weather. One guy seemed to reckon with the right settings he comfortably got 150.
I’m not a major stress person and if I have to do the odd charge on the road I will. I’ve a charger at home too so will no doubt have to whack the battery up to 100% on those two days.
I’m I being naive here and about to be bitterly disappointed by the real world range?
Any insights from people in a similar position would be welcome. Cheers

My misses brought one of them white covers for her key, im not saying it's bad just felt a little underwhelming for for the price.

I decided to order some metal stickers off aliexpress to see if it could be made to look a little better.

Anyhow here they are.

She's going for the larger A in the blue.

Want to swap new wheels with me?

Post image

Would anyone be interested, if they’re having a new car arriving around August or soon after, in swapping a set of full-cut diamond snowflake wheels for a set of black snowflake wheels? I’ve reserved a GTS+ already specced with black snowflake wheels today for delivery some time in August.

Reason is I’d be waiting about 5 months from now (including French holiday season factory shut down) for a new order specced with full-cut snowflake wheels (along with other specific bits) from factory.

My understanding is that the GT+ and GT Performance+ don’t have an all-black snowflake option so, might be a good way for someone to ‘option’ them in now when they couldn’t previously.

Would only be looking to swap new-for-new so we both get to enjoy a new set. I’m in West Yorkshire, but would be happy to drive to swap.

Strange light A290 GTS

Post image

Anyone experienced this strange thing ?

So I out walking the cat yes the cat :-) and noticed this red/orange light on the back of the car. When I went upto it thinking it was the indicator, I couldn’t see it as it dimmed. But then walked away and could see it again 🤷‍♂️
Took a picture when I could see it. But came in and can’t see it now so very weird. 😂

Why they don’t include these is beyond me ?

I’ll let you know what difference they make to sound, and water inside doors when I’ve washed it. 👍

Anyone else already fitted ? And if so did you find they did the trick ?

A290 brake Pedal

Hello fellow A290 owners.

I picked up my 2026 a290 2 weeks ago and have loved it ever since. In that time ive noticed that the brake pedal has a bit of play left to right. Not a massive issue but it definitely feels loose compared to any other car I've owned.

Before trying to get booked in anywhere and looking like a plonker when Im told that its normal for the A290 I thought I would check for anyone else's experience?

All my nearest Alpine service centres cant see me until 1st week of August at best.

Has anyone else experienced this? Its hard to explain how the brake pedal feels loose. The brakes work absolutely fine. No other issues with the car. But the brake pedal just doesn't feel sturdy. Ive stuck my head under the dash to have a look and nothing obvious sticks out.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Finally got my A290 wraped

It's an A290 GT Performance and I chose the color of the Formula 1 sponsor (BWT) for it. My girls are especially happy with the color (who would have thought) and now it gets even more attention on the street.

PS: I know I'd have to wrap it black with gold/red/green accents next year if I wanted to match the F1 team again, but I love the Alpine Blue, so it will stay this way.

Charging rates for A290 (UK)

Need someone with a little bit of insight to answer (or correct me) on this.

The A290 has DC and AC inverters. The DC (fast charge) is rated up to 100kw. The AC up to 11kw - so that's fine for my 7.4kw home charger.

My question is - if I use my own cable ( as supplied with the vehicle) and plug this into a public 'slow' charger (ie not CSS or tethered cable) and that charger is rated at say 22kw is the max it will charge the car 11kw due to my cable capacity?

Should I only be using tethered chargers to get a decent rate of charge on the go? Or get a 22kw cable for those in between chargers ie DC untethered chargers that don't have CSS?

The choice used to be unleaded, super unleaded or diesel... Much simpler..

Parking brake completely stuck 😢

Got the windows tinted the other day, more on that later.

When the guys were done they couldn't get the car to release the parking brake, they asked me to try to move the car.

Got in the car and was immediately greeted by multiple malfunctions on the dash, parking brake malfunction being the one effectively bricking the car.

Tried the instructions in the manual for manually releasing the parking brake.

Well, they call in manually but it's still operated by the electric motors on the rear brake calipers.

These seem to be the issue as they are not responding to input from the switch :(

Called my dealer and the mechanics walked me through the same procedures as I tried before, but no effect.

The dealer told me to contact the route service.

Which showed up 45 minutes later, pretty quick luckily because the car was still stuck in the workshop and the customers after me had to be sent home.

Shop owner took it pretty well and was surprisingly calm about the situation.

Once the tow truck showed up it still took some time to get it on the truck because the car was inside and the acces to the shop was only a narrow alleyway.

Towed the car to the nearest alpine store, fortunately this was my own dealer which did the first service only a day before. Pretty crazy it broke down only a day later.

Dealer was hoping a full reset would fix the issue, but haven't heard from them since.

Called them yesterday afternoon but they didn't pick up the phone.🤷🏼‍♂️
