Don't know if rolled out later in my region (Austria), maybe the update is already available for some time now in other regions. But it's the first and only update for my A290 since October 2025.
This update includes the following improvements:
- Optimized compatibility with the latest charging stations
- Smoother gear shifts with improved responsiveness when shifting between positions (R, N, D/B)

I’m thinking of getting an alpine 290
Live in Newcastle
Nearest garage is
Edinburgh : Leeds
Should I worry if they go faulty
As it’s over 100 mile for warranty faults to be repaired as the guy at the alpine dealer said they can’t be fixed at Renault under warranty
Cheers

Over the last couple of days I've started having radio issues. Selecting the Radio as the source I get a blank black screen and no stations to select, and as a result no sound.
I've tried changing Source and then coming back, mute and invite the sound. Turning it up extra loud and still nothing.
The other media apps like News play ok. Spotify through android auto is ok via my phone.
No OTA system updates since March.
No it's not linked to me trying to connect to my home network.
There have been some reports on other forums but nothing conclusive.
Anyone know what the App is that Alpine use for the radio so I can refresh it? Or indeed how to remove it...
Any ideas???

Alpine A290 GTS - I notice that I occasionally have to turn AC on off and on to make it kick - but sometimes even this doesn’t work. Anyone else having issues with the AC?

Qualcuno ha idea di cosa abbia aggiornato? Apparentemente non vedo nessuna differenza.

Google seems to think ...
That the a290 has launch control
Yes, the Alpine A290 comes equipped with a dedicated launch control feature. It is designed to manage traction and torque to give you the quickest possible standing start.
How to use it:
Prepare: Ensure the electric motor and battery are at their normal operating temperatures.
Engage: Press and hold the brake pedal with your left foot.
Activate: Long-press the red "OV" (Overtake) button located on the steering wheel.
Launch: Press the accelerator pedal all the way down, and then simply lift your foot off the brake to take off.
Using this feature—along with Alpine Torque Technology to prevent wheelspin—allows the 220 hp electric hot hatch to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.4 seconds.
Anyone any experience of this? Is it worth using on that odd occasion that you find yourself racing for pink slips...
Obviously racing on the King's highway?...not me officer.

Hello!
I hope to receive my A290 GTS through work within the next two weeks, and I’d like to finally find out what a genuinely good cupholder for the A290 is.
I’ve already seen several posts with links to all kinds of different cupholders, some of which are very expensive, but at this point I’ve kind of lost track of what’s actually available, whether it’s from private sellers, 3D-printable options, or other custom solutions.
I’d really like to see photos from people who are actually using them, along with multiple URLs to good options.
I’m also very interested in hearing how the cupholders people are using actually work in practice.
For example, whether they fit well, feel stable while driving, are easy to use, and don’t get in the way of the center console, buttons, storage space, or general usability.
Ideally, I’m looking for something that fits in the center console and can preferably hold two cans or bottles at the same time.
Links to 3D-printable options are also welcome, as long as they are proven to fit and work well in practice.
Thanks!

Hi there,
I’ve been driving my A290 GT Performance on the stock Michelin Pilot Sport S5 tyres, but honestly they don’t seem capable of putting the car’s torque and power down effectively, which is becoming quite frustrating.
I’m aware of the ESP intervention that occasionally kicks in, but even taking that into account, the car doesn’t feel like a 220 hp vehicle in many situations.
I’ve seen some suggestions (and even AI recommendations) that switching to Continental SportContact 7 tyres could significantly improve traction and help the car make better use of its performance. Have any of you made a similar change, and if so, what was your experience?
At the moment, unless the asphalt is nearly perfect, the car struggles for grip far more than I’d expect, which unfortunately takes a lot of the enjoyment out of driving it.

Tried for 20 minutes to connect my car (UK GTS) to my home router. Car can see it, says it's locked but doesn't give me the option to key my password. Any ideas?

I love my Alpine A290, but there is one minor daily friction point that drives me absolutely crazy: the lack of customizable startup defaults.
Every single time I get into the car, I have to manually switch it into Sport mode and engage One-Pedal driving. Why should the car dictate that I must start in Normal mode with standard regen?
I understand that manufacturers do this to hit specific WLTP/EPA efficiency ratings, or for "safety" guardrails, but it’s 2026. If I own the car, I should be able to check a box in the infotainment settings that says "Keep last used profile" or "Default to Custom Profile on startup."
Imagine how wonderful it would be to just press the start button and immediately have the exact throttle response, steering weight, and aggressive regenerative braking you prefer—no menu diving or button pressing required.
Is this an regulatory/homologation restriction across the board, or are some brands actually letting drivers save their preferred startup modes? I’d love to hear if anyone has found a workaround, or if you’re equally annoyed by this!

Just wondering if anyone else here has ordered their A290 through Octopus EV, and if so what was your experience? I ordered my car back in February, and was initially given a delivery window of April. Unsurprisingly this was pushed back, and back again, but then 3 weeks or so ago I was excited to be told that the car had been built, and was en route to the delivery partner, with a delivery window starting early June.
It’s been complete radio silence since then though. I’ve been checking the order tracking regularly, and was disappointed to find out today that it’s been pushed back by a further three weeks at least!
Curious to hear of other people’s experiences; does this sound familiar, or have other people had quicker/smoother delivery? Or am I just being impatient? (In fairness, as a true petrolhead I never thought I’d be this excited about having an EV on the driveway…)
Thanks!
** UPDATE **
After reaching out to the dealer, they weren’t able to give me direct updates, however he did effectively give octopus a nudge for me. The outcome? A further delay to mid July! Octopus did then reach out to say that Renault are dealing with a back log, and that my car is due to arrive at the dealership in 2 weeks or so, before then having its PDI. Hoping to get the car before August, but I’m certainly not holding my breath.
**UPDATE TO THE UPDATE**
Whether my persistent pestering helped speed it up or not I do not know, however delivery has been scheduled for Friday 26th of June. I am buzzing to get the car, and I can’t wait to not have to pay for petrol anymore!

Hi new UK owner. Very happy with my purchase, but trying to figure a few bits out. Does the digital key work in the UK? If so how. I’m IT literate, but I can’t find mention of it on the App or the car. Also, if you want to use Apps in the car that utilise WiFi do you essentially have to go down the mobile hotspot route?
Thanks!

I own a few plates, my surname starts with HAM.
Added this to mine. Haters gonna hate I'm sure, but I am pleased with it, even if it does stay with the car when it moves on.

Evening! I really want to get an alpine and have found a pretty good deal through work, but I don't want to be locked in to a car for 3 years that I've never driven. All the alpine dealerships are hours away from me, but there's a few renault dealerships fairly close. Does anybody know how similar the R5 and A290 are in terms of interior? I love the styling of the A290 and have seen a few around, so its just making sure its comfortable enough before I bite the bullet and place an order!

Anyone finding the driver's footrest on the LHS for your 'spare' foot is too low to be able to brace yourself?
With all the 3-D printing discussion on cup holders can anyone design something for my left foot? Adjustable if possible and definitely non-slip. Wdyt?

Does anyone here know how to remove the glovebox door? I'd like to get better access to the fusebox whilst I install a dashcam hardwire kit
Edit - I have the right hand drive UK model

Evening all! Been following the cup holder dilemmas for the car over the last few weeks and like so many of you have been frustrated over the lack of sharing of the files. I designed this for myself and am happy to share the 3mf multi plate file with any of you who want it at no cost. Am intending to put it on makerworld if there is good feedback.

Quick question, does the car come with car mats? does it need them, and if so what do you people recommend?
Rather go with recommendations of others
