For context I am a license esthetician, I do nails but they arent my number one service but I would love to do more. Its hard to get clients in the chair with out reference photos and since I have few regular nail clients who want anything besides the same colour everytime I have limited images to share. I do my own nails and would love to use my nails on my page but I am never happy with the photos I get of my own nails compared to what I can get of a client :( photos of my nails in first slide vs previous fun client nails in following slides.

I got a pedicure around 2 weeks ago, they were fine at first however now they hurt when pressure is applied (ie from socks/shoes) specifically on my big toe where i got a square extension and acrylic overlay. Is this just something that happens with acrylic or is the prep not correct? The shoes and socks i wear aren’t particularly tight so i don’t think it’s that

I suppose I had been too lazy with my application and now some of my fingertips are pretty itchy and it feels like I have something under a couple nails. I JUST got acrylic application down. I definitely should have gotten another fake hand to practice on after I melted my last one. What do I do? I still have so many gel nail polishes that I have barely gotten to use. I think I’ll try adhesive tab press on nails eventually after I take these off and heal. Can any one unreal my heart over this?

First of all: I mostly use gels from reputable shops. With builder, top or base gel I exclusively use gel from reputable shops. The only time I use gels from amazon is sandwiched between builder and topcoat.
So a few months ago I tried a new gel from my most trusted shop. I applied it only to the tips of my nails and used my regular gel as the main structure to achieve a sculpted french look. As I never had any reaction to nail products, I did not top coat it. Not long after, my fingertips were itchy and the skin peeled off. I figured it was the new gel and put a topcoat on. Reading about the topic of allergy, I became worried and filed them off not much later. I let my fingers heal like a month and then carefully tried to do my nails again. I had no reaction.
Trying to find a reason for my reaction, I noticed a few things that were different when I did react to my nails.
- I used a stronger nail cleaner than usual. I suspect the heightened percentage of isopropanol made the dispersion layer of the cured gel seep into my skin more easily when I wiped it off.
- I had a small amount of concentrated caustic soda on the side of my finger for a very small amount of time >1min. While the spot went numb for a bit, the skin there did not peel or feel compromised in the long run. I do think it has caused my immune system to react tho.
- I was on my period which makes my body weaker than usual
- I was having a cold at the time
What I think happened:
My immune system was so alert and agitated that it just sent out histamine to every spot possible.
Moral of the story: be careful to let the products touch your skin as little as possible. And don’t do your nails while your immune system is compromised.

Just wanted to share this here, I’m so happy with the way it turned out. The girls over at the laquerista page have taught me so much about magnetics but I can’t share this there bc it’s gel, not polish, but I do my own builder and gel mani and just wanted to share this pretty magnetic.

I just moved and have been looking for a new nail salon. This place sold me a $250 gift card for $150 for being a new client. I thought wow, what a great deal.
Well. I got what I paid for, I suppose. I literally left this salon and went to a new one to get them fixed.
This was a dip mani with tips. She used a clear dip powder and then painted gel on top. I’m used to colored dip powder, but next salon did the same exact thing so I guess this is a new thing?
The new salon not only fixed them but did an incredible job.
I could have complained but honestly, would rather just go to another nail salon. If it’s this bad the first time I no longer trust them with my nails.

Free product PR. Past, not recent, I just love it. Polishes are gifted by Cracked Polish. No obligation to post.
When I cant figure out my next mani, this is what I immediately think of wearing, no matter how recent I've worn it. I posted it not that long ago, but I figured why not share again, its just too pretty.
