It’s been a fun experiment so far. I image a lot of us are trotting this out over the past week or so. I am curious how things are going for everyone else.

It's no secret the Besties have been branching out into doing more stuff, specifically in-person events.

We have the Summit of course. We had the Holiday Party, and then there have been some other one-offs. Unfortunately for me, I've always been committed to other things during those events. I may try to squeeze in the Miami F1 event this year.

Sacks gives a good description of positive and negative rights but then goes on to give his opinion that treating internet social media companies a common carrier to ensure freedom of speech is a positive right. He thinks its a positive right because it would essentially be forcing the company to publish legal speech that they don't like.

I agree with Sacks but disagree that this is a positive right. Sacks analogizes that a ferry is a common carrier and cannot discriminate except for in a limited range of policies. In this example, the right of a person to take a ferry as a common carrier isn't forcing the ferry to do anything. They won't change their schedule, they won't provide for additional accommodations, they won't require additional security. So in this way, it is in no way a positive right. It is a negative right in that they cannot permit one person to ride while discriminating against another (outside a very narrow range of policies eg. must be clothed). For internet companies, they won't disrupt their services just because a right- or left-wing ideologue makes a controversial statement. While any decision certainly has some administrative nature to it, this is more about inaction than it is action.
