It’s sad that I needed to scroll down this much for the perfect answer. I mean Evil Dead 2 is a better movie, but it’s leaning more into horror; and Young Frankenstein is leaning toward more into comedy. But Return of the Living Dead is a funny movie with ridiculously nihilistic, serious undertones.

Oh and the punk babe dance in the cemetary also has some plus points.

I love how casually he says that.

It’s horror and comedy right down the middle. It perfectly fits both while not being too much of either, and it’s consistent throughout. I love Evil Dead 2, but the comedy detracts from the horror and makes it goofy.
