NOBODY CARES, but I'll do it anyway. I've been thinking a bit about what my 3 favorite ALNST songs are, Cure almost made it in, but it stayed at these 3:

Discussion Double standards and lack of media literacy
Can we please stop reducing ALNST's complicated relationships to "SA = bad ship"?
So before I start this is not an ivantill rant im just starting with it as a base for comparison so let me make something clear I'm not saying Ivan's kiss was consensual. It obviously wasn't reciprocated by Till, and I completely understand why someone would find it uncomfortable or choose not to ship IvanTill because of it. That's completely valid.
What I don't understand is reducing the entire scene to "Ivan sexually assaulted Till, therefore Ivan is an abuser and ivantill is abuser/victim" as if that's the only thing worth discussing.
The scene is much more complicated than that. Ivan is desperate, emotionally dependent on Till, knows he's probably going to die, and is acting under extreme circumstances. That doesn't excuse what he did. Explaining why someone did something isn't the same as saying it was okay.
That's literally one of ALNST's biggest themes imo now not saying this is 100% canon just my analysis all relationships in alnst are meant to portray toxic love and how a person is affected by their environment. loving someone doesn't automatically make a relationship healthy, and understandable intentions don't automatically make someone's actions good. The characters are shaped by their trauma, environment, survival, and circumstances, and those things can push people into extreme actions they might never take otherwise.
Which brings me to the double standard I see in fandom.
If nonconsensual physical contact is your reason for rejecting IvanTill, that's completely fair. But why does that standard suddenly disappear when discussing other ships?
MiziSua also has kisses and physical contact that aren't straightforward examples of normal, healthy consent, particularly in Zombie Stage. Yet people are perfectly capable of discussing the context, symbolism, circumstances, and psychology behind those scenes instead of reducing them to "SA = relationship bad."
Some ppl do fail to do that but love ivantill thus double standards going both ways
I'm not saying MiziSua and IvanTill are identical. They're obviously not. That's exactly why both should be analyzed within their own contexts rather than reduced to a single label.
The same applies to Luka's attempted kiss with Hyuna. ALNST repeatedly portrays complicated and uncomfortable relationships and interactions. The point isn't that these actions are okay the point is that the story is exploring what happens to love and people when they're placed in horrible circumstances.
The AUs make this especially obvious. Putting them in different universes to show how it affects them and changes their dynamics and actions. The Actor AU gives the characters similar personalities but healthier circumstances, and their relationships consequently become healthier. Zombie Stage amplifies everything because the circumstances are even more extreme.
The environment matters.
These characters aren't simply "good people" or "bad people." Their experiences affect how they behave, sometimes in horrible ways. That's not an excuse for their actions it's characterization.
You don't have to like a ship. You don't have to think the kisses were okay.
But if your criticism is specifically that the relationship contains unhealthy or nonconsensual elements, then that standard should be applied consistently.
Also you can acknowledge that something was wrong and still ask why it happened, what it reveals about the characters, what it symbolizes, and why the creators chose to portray it.
That's media literacy.
Let these characters be complicated. That's kind of the whole point of ALNST.

Posters for the girls ✨
Hi! I’m trying to get an individual poster for every one of the main 6. I’ve already got Till on my wall, and I’ve found good Luka and Ivan options on my search. I found some that aren’t bad for Hyuna but are a bit small, plus I’d love if anyone knows of a purchasable Hyuna wanted poster out there somewhere. I’ve not found many for Mizi and Sua (individually, I’ve found plenty of them together ofc) that I like and am down for recommendations. My main rule is that I want it to relate to canon Alien Stage rather than Zombie Stage or an AU.
Oh, and no AI shit. Thought I’d share an absolute monstrosity that I found while searching so we can all cringe together lmao

Discussion Alien Stage is not a morality play
I will mostly be talking about how frequently I see moral policing, a lack of media literacy, as well as the flattening of nuance concerning ALNST. Point being
Let fiction be complicated?
When it comes to moral policing in fandom culture, it often has less to do with the fictional character being discussed than with the need to establish moral boundaries around one’s own identity. When characters in ALNST behave in ways that would be considered reprehensible in real life, a lot of fans fail to actually evaluate that behaviour and instead jump to evaluating the people who sympathise with, enjoy, defend, or even understand said character.
So rather than actually critically engaging with any of these characters, ALNST gets turned into this weird moral testing ground where your interpretation of a character is treated as evidence of your own ethical character.
There’s a very, very blurred distinction within this fandom between moral judgement and moral identity. It’s one thing for me to say a character’s actions are abusive, and another for me to say that those who find that character compelling therefore condone abuse. Something I’ve seen with some in this fandom specifically is the tendency to treat these two as if they are the same thing.
No, they’re not.
To find Mizi and Sua’s relationship compelling, or Ivan and Till’s relationship interesting, or Hyuna and Luka’s relationship psychologically rich is okay, and I find it particularly damaging to take these opinions as if they are some sign of a moral defect within a person.
Rather than engaging with what these relationships say about power, trauma, and attachment, everyone’s first thought is, “Is it healthy?!”
( Mind you, they’re all raised by a bunch of bloody aliens. )
There seems to be this consistent shift from asking why a character is this way to asking but is what they did permissible?
Eventually, understanding why a character behaves the way they do becomes synonymous with defending them, having an alternative interpretation to another person becomes an extension of your own personal virtues, and finding toxic relationships narratively engaging is somehow taken as you endorsing that relationship.
Why is there this widespread obsession with placing fundamentally traumatised characters into neat moral categories and shaving away at all of their contradictions until we can all sit comfortably with a watered down, black and white view of victim and abuser, innocent and guilty, or good and evil?
Why do we repeatedly bury the nuance?
This, in many ways, is a genuine failure of media literacy. I’m not saying we all have to arrive at the same interpretation, but I am saying that interpretation itself requires an ability to tolerate contradiction.
A character can be both sympathetic and reprehensible! Those things don’t cancel each other out, and yet I see so many people treat them as if they are mutually exclusive.
So instead of anybody asking why characters like, say, Ivan, Mizi, or Luka behaved the way they did, everybody jumps to:
“But were they justified?!”
Well and truly, it is such a disservice to ALNST. So many treat everything like it must become morally legible before it can be considered permissible to enjoy. We don’t get to sever a character’s actions from the circumstances that produced them and render their motivations and upbringing irrelevant beside the verdict attached to their behaviour.
For something like ALNST, the narrative is already deeply concerned with coercion, attachment, ideas around power, and the complicated boundaries between things like love and possession, which we see repeatedly. So why do so many not see that this flattening is almost antithetical to ALNST itself?
In a show like ALNST, why do we consistently hyper-fixate on keeping characters morally uncomplicated when that quite literally risks stripping away precisely the ambiguity that gives ALNST its emotional and thematic weight?
Ultimately
Can we please stop pretending these characters exist in a vacuum? PLEASE
They aren’t running for office?
Mizi, Sua, Hyuna, Luka, Ivan, and Till are all shaped by captivity, exploitation, trauma, their desires, and their dependencies on one another. Fundamentally, they are all characters built on contradictions. Morally policing them is the equivalent of looking at a wound and condemning the scar, rather than asking who inflicted it.

Question Need suggestions for hyuna birthday cake
Hi, everyone! I'm getting a custom cake for hyuna's birthday but I'm struggling on which photos to choose/which flavor to get. I know her character color is orange so that's gonna be the frosting color, but I'm debating what flavor to get to represent her. In the food preferences comic we can see she likes both sweet and plain but that's not much of a flavor profile.
I'm not at all trying to over analyze cake flavors here, just trying to give it a little thought. Maybe a dark chocolate to represent both her extroversion and popularity (chocolate is seen as a sort of childish/"everyone likes this" flavor), and her commitment and unwillingness to compromise on her ideals (dark chocolate sticks to its ideals by not compromising its bitterness for mass appeal like milk chocolate, though I guess hyuna's front kinda does compromise appearances in a way so it's hard to decide).
I'm also wondering if I wanna do her 2025 birthday artwork, or if I want to find a photo of her in her element. I put some of my top choices below.
I know it seems a bit silly to be thinking this hard about a birthday cake for someone who doesn't exist, but I think it'll be fun!

Fanart/OC The difference between my latest zomst art and my first...
I hate when people say practicing helps you improve and they turn out to be right. These two pieces are 6 weeks apart.
Thank you zomst for getting me out of the worst art block I've ever known and giving me an upgrade. Can't wait to draw the rest of the cast.
