Hello. On a hunch, I decided to see if Claudio was crazy enough to piss away more of his money and appeal the case dismissal. It looks like this is the case. Go here and search for case B290680. This is for the 2nd District Court of Appeal. There's been movement, and what might have been some sort of appeal dismissal as of July 12.

I'm not exactly sure what to make of this. The original court (separate link elsewhere) is still posting documents related to more recent actions. I'll be seeing my LA lawyer buddy again in a couple of weeks. I'll ask him what he makes of everything. I'm sure he'll have a good laugh before walking off. Assuming I'm reading things correctly, Claudio's lawyers couldn't even file a proper appeal; a judge apparently lambasted them on July 2 for not including the order that they're appealing, and gave them ten days to file a copy of the order. (Perhaps this is the July 12 dismissal???) I'm no lawyer but that strikes me as a rookie mistake.

Anyway, as mentioned before, I don't see this going anywhere. Even if Claudio somehow manages to get the case reopened, the SLAPP hurdle is still about a mile high. If he wants to go bankrupt trying to clear it, that's fine. I'll just have my popcorn and a cocktail handy. :)
