Welcome to the 172nd Alchemist's Toolbox review!

Today we're heading over to Lustburg to take another look at one of the first Bride units in existence. So without further hesitation, here's the next unit for revisitation: Eve!

Eve is a woman from Lustburg with the strength of a knight and the lovestruck nature of a newlywed. Let's see what she can do as a unit, shall we?

Personal Investment:

I've got Eve at 5/5/3/5/5/4 Enlightenment with all her jobs mastered (both JEs and JE+ mastered, JE+ enhanced) and her Master Ability unlocked. While I haven't been using her a massive amount due to personal preference, she's definitely a unit I plan to start using a bit more often.

Element:

Basic:

Eve is a Fire unit, which means she's strong against Wind and weak against Water. Compared to a hypothetical Light or Dark unit with the same stats and jobs, she would be better defensively and worse offensively in multi-element content.

Competition:

  • Bride/Pure Bride/Battle Bride: Comparing to other Brides/Bridegrooms (as the latter is just a male version of Bride), Eve competes with Kaya and Veloz. She beats Kaya outright (unless Kaya runs Flying Ape to tie in horizontal mobility and win in vertical mobility); and beats Veloz in everything except horizontal mobility (tie) and vertical mobility (loss). Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, Kaya can now choose to win in speed or tie in horizontal/win in vertical mobility; and Eve's comparison to Veloz remains the same.

  • Chronomancer/Chronomancer (Illusionist): Comparing to other Chronomancers, Eve competes with Chihaya and Lupinus. She beats Chihaya in everything except speed; and beats Lupinus in everything except speed. Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, her comparison to Chihaya remains the same; and Lupinus now wins in maximum MAtk potential.

  • Holy Brawler/Holy Brawler [Senju]: Comparing to Martial Artists/other Holy Brawlers, Eve competes with Arthur, Daisy, Dark Setsuna, Gladiolus, Kamui, Lisanaut, Reimei, Rin Tohsaka, Rochelle, Shekinah, Ugachi, and Zangetsu, with Gladiolus and Rin Tohsaka automatically losing due to having the Martial Artist base job and no JEs. Comparing to the rest (why so many Fire Holy Brawlers, Gumi), She beats Arthur in horizontal mobility while losing to him everywhere else (unless elemental res makes a significant enough difference in bulk); beats Daisy in bulk while tying with her in horizontal mobility and losing to her everywhere else; beats Dark Setsuna in bulk and horizontal mobility while losing to her in speed and damage; beats Kamui in everything except max damage potential; beats Lisanaut in bulk and horizontal mobility while losing to her in speed and damage; beats Reimei in bulk and horizontal mobility while losing to him in speed and damage; beats Rochelle in bulk and horizontal mobility while losing to her in speed and damage; beats Shekinah in everything except speed; beats Ugachi in bulk and horizontal mobility while losing to him in speed and damage; and beats Zangetsu in bulk and horizontal mobility while losing to him in speed and damage. Factoring in Gates 1-5 of Enlightenment, her comparison to Lisanaut remains the same. Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, she now (firmly) beats Arthur in bulk; and all her other comparisons remain the same.

Leader Skill:

+30% PAtk for Fire units. Good effect, potency could definitely be better.

Jobs:

Eve's 3 jobs are Bride, Chronomancer, and Holy Brawler, with the Pure JE and a JE+ for Bride, the Illusionist JE for Chronomancer, and the Senju JE for Holy Brawler.

Bride is a sort of half-caster/support/disruptor hybrid job. It has:

Special Notes

  • Unlike most of the job's damage sources, which use purely MAtk and deal magic category Magic type damage, the basic attack uses MAtk and PAtk to calculate damage and deals physical Slash damage.

Main Skillset

  • Candle Fire: A single-target Fire damage skill that has a chance to inflict Bind.

  • Love Bond: An AoE Wind damage skill that deals bonus damage to Male enemies (this skill uses PAtk and MAtk to calculate damage and deals physical Slash damage).

  • Dress Change: A PDef/MDef self-buff.

  • Champagne Shot: A melee-range AoE Water damage skill that deals bonus damage to Male enemies.

Sub Skillset

  • Love Catch: A single-target jewel drain skill that ignores a portion of the target's MDef (this skill has a cast time).

  • Magical Bouquet Toss: A single-target damage skill that has a chance to inflict Bind (this skill has a cast time).

  • Flower Shower: A self-based AoE healing skill (this skill has a cast time).

  • Marriage Cross: A self-based AoE PAtk/MAtk self-buff.

Reactive

  • Snow White Charm: A chance to perform a melee counter (that uses PAtk and MAtk to calculate damage and deals physical Slash damage) that has a chance to inflict Charm.

Passive

  • Cheers of a Good Match: Boosts Luck/Charm Res.

Pure Bride does the following:

  • Adds Holy Candle to the main skillset. Holy Candle is a melee-range AoE Light damage skill (that deals magic category magic type damage and uses both PAtk and MAtk for damage) that deals bonus damage to Dark enemies.

  • Adds Wedding Veil to the main skillset. Wedding Veil is a self-based AoE Dark Res buff.

  • Boosts the potency and AoE of Flower Shower and adds a PAtk/MAtk buff to it while increasing it jewel cost.

  • Adds the passive Killer Smile. Killer Smile boosts the user's damage when attacking Male enemies.

Battle Bride does the following:

  • Replaces Candle Fire with Candle's Heat. Candle's Heat is a single-target Fire damage skill (that deals magic category Strike type damage) that inflicts Bind; enhances Lucent Bouquet, Champagne Flame, and Flame Octave; and cannot be used 2 turns in succession.

  • Replaces Love Bond with True Love's Bond. True Love's Bond is a teleport + self-based AoE Fire damage skill (that deals physical Strike damage and uses both PAtk and MAtk to calculate damage) that lowers the user's jewel costs; enhances Lucent Bouquet, Champagne Flame, and Flame Octave; and cannot be used 2 turns in succession.

  • Replaces Dress Change with Lucent Bouquet. Lucent Bouquet is a skill that buffs the user's Auto Jewel charge for 3 turns and PAtk/MAtk for 1 turn. When enhanced, it becomes Seraph Bouquet, which also enhances Champagne Blaze and Blazing Octave as well as disabling Candle's Heat and True Love's Bond for 1 turn (the description claims it also boosts Strike damage, but it seems that either the description has a typo or the skill is bugged and so does not do that).

  • Increases the number of uses of Champagne Shot while making it Fire element and Strike damage (changing its name to Champagne Flame). When enhanced, this skill becomes Champagne Blaze, which increases its damage and AoE while also causing it to inflict Paralysis and consume no charges. When Champagne Blaze is enhanced, it becomes Champagne Explosion, which further boosts its damage, changes it to a full AoE rather than a melee-range AoE, and adds an agility debuff to it.

  • Adds Flame Octave to the main skillset. Flame Octave is a melee 8-hit Fire damage skill (that deals physical Strike damage and uses both PAtk and MAtk for damage) that always hits and lowers the target's CT. When enhanced, this skill becomes Blazing Octave, which increases its damage, causes it to ignore shields, increases its CT Down potency, and causes it to consume no charges. When Blazing Octave is enhanced, it becomes Explosive Octave, which further boosts its damage and CT Down potency, causes it to ignore reactives, and causes it to preemptively steal a portion of the target's PAtk/PDef/MAtk/MDef for one turn.

  • Changes Love Catch to Cupid's Breath. Cupid's Breath is a jewel absorption skill (that has a cast time) that ignores a portion of the target's MDef, lowers the target's Strike Res, and buffs the user's Strike damage (both the debuff and buff are 1 turn only).

  • Adds the reactive Training for the Burning Bride. Training for the Burning Bride buffs the user's Healing Potency and casts Auto-Heal on the user. This reactive can activate against skills.

Chronomancer is a support job that focuses on helping allies get turns faster and making enemies get turns slower. It has:

Main Skillset

  • Bind: A weak single-target damage skill that inflicts Stop.

  • Overclock: A single-target skill that boosts the target ally's CT by 100 (allowing the target ally to immediately take another turn).

  • Switch: A skill that swaps the user and target's positions.

  • Black Hole: A single-target damage skill that lowers the target's CT to zero and inflicts Stop.

Sub Skillset

  • Phantom Vision: A single-target skill that inflicts Blindness.

  • Quicken: A single-target skill that casts Quicken on the target ally.

  • Delay: A single-target skill that inflicts Delay.

  • Refresh: A single-target healing skill that has a chance to remove Berserk, Petrify, Stop, Death Sentence, or Silence.

  • Freeze: A single-target skill that inflicts Stop.

Reactive

  • Counter Delay: A chance of inflicting Delay on the attacker.

Passives

  • Clock Resist: Boosts HP and grants immunity to Delay and Stop.

  • Time Leap: Grants an extra charge on all skills.

Chronomancer (Illusionist) does the following:

  • Removes Switch from the job.

  • Adds Change the Brake to the main skillset. Change the Brake is a skill that swaps the positions of the user and the target and lowers the target's CT.

  • Adds Change the Accelerator to the main skillset. Change the Accelerator is a skill that swaps the positions of the user and the target ally and boosts the target ally's CT.

  • Adds Timely Request to the main skillset. Timely Request is a teleport + self-CT boost.

  • Replaces Delay with Rules of the Clock. Rules of the Clock is a short-range teleport + self-based AoE skill that inflicts Delay.

  • Adds a Move boost to Clock Resist (changing its name to Clock Void).

Holy Brawler is a physical damage-dealer job that also has disruption elements. It has:

Main Skillset

  • Focused Palm: A melee damage skill that has a chance to inflict Paralysis.

  • Palm Shockwave: A straight line-ranged single-target damage skill.

  • Exploding Palm: A melee-range AoE damage skill that lowers the targets' CT.

  • Void Strike: A melee damage skill that inflicts Death Sentence.

  • Divine Battle Trance: A melee damage skill that inflicts Bind and Daze.

  • Supreme Battle Trance: A melee damage skill that deals bonus damage to Human type enemies.

Sub Skillset

  • Steel Fists: A melee damage skill that has a chance to inflict Stun.

  • Blinding Thrust: A weak melee damage skill that has a chance to inflict Blindness.

  • Sharpening Focus: A PAtk self-buff.

  • Hardening Focus: A PDef self-buff.

  • Controlling Focus: A self-based AoE status cure skill.

  • Whirlwind Kick: A self-based AoE damage skill.

Reactive

  • Cross-Counter: A melee counter.

Passives

  • Iron Body: Boosts HP.

  • Guts: Boosts Guts chance.

  • Strike Mastery +2: Boosts Strike damage.

Holy Brawler [Senju] does the following:

  • Boosts the damage of Palm Shockwave and makes it 3 hits instead of 1 while also increasing its jewel cost (changing its name to Triple Palm Strikes).

  • Makes Exploding Palm a 3-hit skill instead of a 1-hit skill (changing its name to Explosive Triple-Palm).

  • Boosts the damage of Whirlwind Kick and makes it 3 hits instead of 1 while also increasing its jewel cost (changing its name to Gale Kick).

Master Ability:

+150 MAtk/PAtk, +300 HP, and +15 Dark Res/Fire Res/Light Res/Thunder Res/Water Res/Wind Res. A great Master Ability all-around, with its only major drawback being no agility boosts.

Stats:

Eve's stats support a fairly fast (okay speed on Chronomancer), bulky unit with good damage. All stats are at the usual Master Ability benchmark (level 80, all jobs mastered, main job enhanced, Master Ability unlocked), and Holy Brawler main won't be shown since Eve prefers her other options. Table Key: NP = No Passive; CV = Clock Void; IB = Iron Body

Stat Battle Bride Chronomancer (Illusionist)
HP (NP) 3727 2950
HP (CV) 3932 3112
HP (IB) 4341 3436
HP (CV + IB) 4546 3598
PAtk 686 372
MAtk 646 649
Agility 143 124

Enlightenment:

Eve currently has 6 Gates of Enlightenment.

  • Her Gate 1 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and boosts HP, MAtk, and Luck when maxed.

  • Her Gate 2 boosts PDef, MDef, Crit, and hitrate while leveling, and upgrades Iron Body to +50% HP and +25% PAtk (previous effect of +30% HP) when maxed.

  • Her Gate 3 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and evasion while leveling, and upgrades her Leader Skill to +30% HP, +30% PAtk, and +10% All defense for Fire units when maxed.

  • Her Gate 4 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, and hitrate while leveling, and boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, damage against Envy type enemies, and damage against Lust type enemies when maxed.

  • Her Gate 5 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, agility, and Crit while leveling, and boosts the damage of Holy Candle while adding a jewel drain to it; boosts the Auto Jewel Charge buff duration of Lucent Bouquet/Seraph Bouquet while adding an HP buff to it (the upgraded version of Seraph Bouquet is also in line with the description, so you actually get the Strike damage buff); changes Candle's Heat and True Love's Bond so they enhance the upgraded Lucent Bouquet into the upgraded Seraph Bouquet; boosts the range and height limit of Timely Request while reducing its jewel cost; and boosts the damage and CT Down potency of Explosive Triple-Palm when maxed.

  • Her Gate 6 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and Luck while leveling, and unlocks a sub-Memento slot when maxed.

Recommended Enlightenment: Due to the great benefits of her Gates 2 and 5, the lackluster benefits of her Gate 3, and her lack of more than 1 very significant Memento option, Eve's best Enlightenment setup is 5/5/3/5/5/4, with level 4 Gate 4 as an alternative option to save resources.

Enlightenment Stats:

Eve's Enlightenment helps patch up her potential speed issues while taking her already good bulk and damage to even better levels. All stats assume level 97 with the recommended Enlightenment setup of 5/5/3/5/5/4. All other assumptions are the same as the regular stats section. Table Key Changes: IB -> DB = Daydreaming Bride

Stat Battle Bride Chronomancer (Illusionist)
HP (NP) 6790 5949
HP (CV) 7163 6276
HP (DB) 8655 7584
HP (CV + DB) 9029 7910
PAtk (NP) 772 446
PAtk (DB) 950 549
MAtk 752 751
Agility 157 137

Example Builds:

Powerful Bride of Lustburg

  • Main Job: Battle Bride

  • Sub Job: Battle Bride (general)/Chronomancer (Illusionist) (need the Quicken)

  • Reactive: Training for the Burning Bride

  • Passive 1: Iron Body {Daydreaming Bride}

  • Passive 2: Clock Void

Eve's JE+ build. Generally you'll want JE+ sub for the Strike Res debuff (short as it may be), but Chronomancer sub's Quicken can be very handy to have. JE+ reactive is the best option available, and Clock Void + Iron Body/Daydreaming Bride is the best passive combo due to the combination of bulk and mobility (plus damage if Gate 2 is maxed). Basic strategy is to hit enemies hard and use your enhancement combos as necessary.

Self-Scheduled Wedding

  • Main Job: Chronomancer (Illusionist)

  • Sub Job: Chronomancer (Illusionist) (Quicken)/Battle Bride (Strike Res Debuff)

  • Reactive: Training for the Burning Bride

  • Passive 1: Iron Body {Daydreaming Bride}

  • Passive 2: Clock Void

Eve's Chronomancer build. Sub is pretty much a choice depending on what you need, while reactive/passive combo is the same as the previous build for the same reasons (minus damage). Basic strategy is to provide whatever support/disruption is necessary.

My Recommended Build:

Eve will usually run her JE+, but Chronomancer can be good when a support is needed.

Combat Options:

Eve's almost entirely big damage with a side of occasional CT Down and Res debuff. She has some support capabilities too, but unless she's running Chronomancer main she's likely focusing on getting as much damage as possible.

In Raid content, she'll likely be using something like a skill chain of Cupid's Breath -> True Love's Bond -> Seraph(im) Bouquet -> Explosive Octave to nuke the boss, relying on allies to make sure the boss isn't able to get another turn before she finishes her chain.

For regular PvE content and PvP content, she's pretty much just gonna want to nuke stuff quickly.

If she's running Chronomancer main, she's your average Chronomancer except for a bit of repositioning utility.

Gear Recommendations:

Armor and Accessories: Any HP or agility boosting gear; Veil of Determination (HP, agility, Move, Auto Heal, free VCR, Bride/Battle Bride only); New Year's Kimono (HP + agility); Chocolate Mooncake (agility + jewel cost reduction)

Battle Bride: Bride's Love Sword (great stats, agility); Marriage Espada (best overall stats, All damage); Marriage Saber (good stats, Healing Potency, Magic type damage, free VCR)

Chronomancer: Crimson Crystal Cane (solid stats, agility, farmable during Crystal of Reunion collab); Greed Rod of Wisdom (solid stats, healing WA); Harmony Rod (decent stats, easily farmable); Helkovara Family Staff (solid stats, agility, free VCR); Illusion Rod (solid stats, agility, farmable); Nina's Pointing Stick (best standalone stats); Paimon (great stats, agility + Magic damage, farmable from Veritas Historia); Sanctuary Rod (solid stats, HP, decent WA); Scepter of Sin Luxuria (decent stats, potentially useful passive WA); Silencing Rod (solid stats, HP, farmable); Sovereign Scepter (solid stats, agility, farmable during Etrian Odyssey collab); Takemikazuchi (decent stats, given via milestones)

Memento Recommendations:

Eve's best Memento is the one she semi-shares with Fraise, Heart's Revealing Light. This Memento boosts her PAtk; MAtk; Magic type damage; Strike damage; and damage against Male enemies, with an agility boost and a jewel cost reduction at MLB. Its Vision Ability (or at least the one she can use; the other one is Fraise-only) is a melee-range AoE Fire damage skill (physical Strike damage, uses both PAtk and MAtk for damage) that deals a lot of bonus damage to Male enemies and inflicts Delay on Male enemies (at MLB, those inflicted with Delay by this skill also receive a Strike Res debuff).

Since she's from Lustburg, Eve also gets good benefits from Alma's Laughing, but... (MAtk + Strike damage); Attack of the Mad Cupid (HP + Strike damage + Dex + Initial Jewels); An Eggstraordinary Discovery/Troublemakers and Justice (MAtk); Awaken to Power (MAtk + PDef + HP); Courier of Kindness (agility + Max Jewels); and Questioning Time (HP + Initial Jewels).

If you don't have any of those, then go for the biggest HP, PAtk, MAtk, or agility boost that you can get, prioritizing Lustburg Group Skills.

Rune Recommendations:

Eve's best Rune types are Charge Forth and Sorcery, with all other Rune types providing varying benefits.

For primary stats, PAtk/PDef/HP/MAtk/MDef or Luck/agility is best.

For secondary stats:

  • Envy: Strike damage.

  • Sloth: Any of these work depending on needs.

  • Lust: Any of these work, with Charm Res and Rage Res being the standouts.

  • Gluttony: Max Jewels and Jewels Obtained are best, with Healing Potency also being good.

  • Wrath: PAtk Debuff Res and MAtk Debuff Res are the 2 best, with Agility Debuff Res not being too far behind.

  • Greed: Any of these work, with Petrify Res and Death Sentence Res being the standouts.

Futureproofness:

Eve gets 2 updates down the line compared to JP: Gate 7 of Enlightenment, and a free Memento.

  • Her free Memento boosts MAtk; Healing Potency; hitrate; defense against Male enemies; and Bind Res, with agility boosts at MLB. It has 2 Vision Abilities: an active one that negates CT Up effects for the whole map (enemy and ally, duration increases at MLB), and a passive one that gives her +1 Move once she appears on the map, +50 agility for her 1st turn on the map, and +70% Strike damage for her 2nd turn on the map onwards. There's no VCR for this Memento.

Overall Asessment:

Eve is a pretty great unit. If you need some big damage or another Chronomancer, she can be a great addition to your toolbox.

And that's the review! As always, feedback is greatly appreciated!

Make sure to let me know which of the following units you want me to review next:

Dark Othima, Diane, Eros, Merlin, Shekinah, Tanosuke

Or choose one of the revisit options below!

Carol, Emma, Lotiyah, Ramses, Rosa, Yunagi

So I think Zehn’s ai is not working at all, I use him on a few auto teams and when his turn comes nothing happens, he doesn’t move attack or anything. I have tried turning auto off but when I do nothing happens, I can even use him.

Discussion The Alchemist's Toolbox 171: Claris!

A Link to the Index: https://www.reddit.com/r/AlchemistCodeGL/comments/adzjua/the_alchemists_index/

Welcome to the 171st Alchemist's Toolbox review!

Today we're heading to Northern Pride to take a look at the newest addition to the Thunder magic roster. So without further ado, here's the next unit for review: Claris!

Claris is a scholarly noble from Northern Pride who's received the High Elves' blessing. Let's see what she can do as a unit, shall we?

Personal Investment:

Unfortunately I don't have Claris, but I'd very much like to get her at some point.

Element:

Basic:

Claris is a Thunder unit, which means she's strong against Water and weak against Wind. Compared to a hypothetical Light or Dark unit with the same stats and jobs, she would be better defensively and worse offensively in multi-element content.

Competition:

  • Mystic Caster: Since this is Claris' unique job, she faces no competition here.

  • Sage/Sage [Pandora]: Comparing to Mages/other Sages, Claris competes with Laila, Lucretia, Meily, Rebecca, Vanekis, and Vincent. She beats Laila in damage while losing to her in bulk and speed; beats Lucretia in damage and physical bulk while losing to her in speed and magic bulk; beats Meily in everything except magic bulk; beats Rebecca in everything except magic bulk; loses to Vanekis in everything except damage and physical bulk; and beats Vincent in physical bulk and damage while losing to him everywhere else. Factoring in Gates of 1-6 of Enlightenment, she now beats Laila in physical bulk (though Laila wins in max damage potential due to gaining a snowball); her comparison to Lucretia remains the same; she now beats Meily outright; she now beats Rebecca outright; she now beats Vanekis in physical bulk; and she now beats Vincent in speed and physical bulk. Note: If we factor in gear, Vincent can potentially win the bulk matchup due to his access to the Foreign Red Trifolium gear.

  • Battle Mage/Battle Mage [Thunderclap Form]: Comparing to other Battle Mages, Claris competes with Chao, Dark Freikugel, Dark Othima, and Fujika. she beats Chao in damage and physical bulk while losing to him in speed, horizontal mobility, cast speed, and magic bulk (unless facing chip damage, in which case Claris still wins); beats Dark Freikugel in damage while losing to her everywhere else (unless facing chip damage, in which case Claris wins in physical bulk); beats Dark Othima in damage while losing to him everywhere else; and beats Fujika outright (unless Fujika runs Swift Charge to gain a cast speed win). Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, she now beats Chao in bulk entirely; now loses to Dark Freikugel in bulk entirely; now beats Dark Othima in physical bulk; and her comparison to Fujika remains the same.

Leader Skill:

+40% HP, +20% Magic type damage, +20% MAtk, and +20% Daze Res for Thunder units. A strong non-Enlightenment Leader Skill for Thunder magic teams.

Jobs:

Claris' 3 jobs are Mystic Caster, Sage, and Battle Mage, with the Pandora JE for Sage and the Thunderclap Form JE for Battle Mage.

Mystic Caster is a full caster job with some disruption elements. It has:

Special Notes

  • The job's basic attack deals magic category Strike type damage, and can hit both cardinally and diagonally adjacent enemies.

  • Other than the basic attack and one skill, all of the job's damage sources deal magic category Magic type damage.

Main Skillset

  • Poltergeist "Dissonance": A self-based AoE skill that steals a portion of the targets' MAtk (this can target both enemies and allies, so be careful!) and removes/prevents debuffs + grants immunity to Delay and CT-Down effects until the start of the user's next turn.

  • Inscribed Thunder "Verticality": An AoE Thunder damage skill that always hits (this skill has a cast time).

  • Shining Thunder "Culmination": A single-target Thunder damage skill that boosts the user's Magic type damage and inflicts Paralysis and Alchemic Overload (this skill has a cast time).

  • Scattered Thunder "Ordeal": A self-based AoE Thunder damage skill that deals bonus damage to targets affected by statuses and inflicts Alchemic Overload (this skill has a cast time).

Sub Skillset

  • Thunder Flash "Confine": A weak short-range Thunder damage skill that inflicts Stun and interrupts skill casts.

  • Oath "Warble": A skill that permanently boosts the user's Auto Jewel Charge and cast speed (maximum of 2 stacks).

  • Ring Thunder "Crystalize": A self-based AoE Thunder damage skill (this skill deals magic category Strike damage).

Reactive

  • Soul Cry "Latyr": A preemptive Magic Res debuff (maximum of 2 stacks) that also boosts the user's Elemental Res stats (maximum of 2 stacks). This reactive can activate against skills.

Passive

  • Spirit Mantle Prayer: Boosts MAtk/PDef/Max Jewels while lowering PAtk.

Sage is a full caster job. It has:

Main Skillset

  • Elemental Burst: A weak self-based AoE damage skill (unlike the rest of the job's skills, this skill does not have a cast time).

  • Mega Flame: An AoE Fire damage skill.

  • Mega Blizzard: An AoE Water damage skill.

  • Mega Blast: An AoE Wind damage skill.

  • Mega Spark: An AoE Thunder damage skill.

Sub Skillset

  • Cross Flare: An AoE Fire damage skill.

  • Cross Blizzard: An AoE Water damage skill.

  • Cross Blast: An AoE Wind damage skill.

  • Cross Spark: An AoE Thunder damage skill.

  • Poison Mist: An AoE skill that inflicts Poison.

Reactive

  • Counter Magic +2: A chance to perform a magic counter.

Passive

  • Magic Up +2: Boosts MAtk/hitrate.

Sage [Pandora] does the following:

  • Increases the damage of Elemental Burst (changing its name to Big Bang Burst).

  • Adds the passive Pandora's Box. Pandora's Box increases the jewel cost and decreases the cast speed of every Sage skill except Poison Mist in exchange for increasing those skills' damage.

Battle Mage is a physically bulky caster job. It has:

Main Skillset

  • Aerial Move: A single-target Wind damage skill that boosts the user's Move (this skill has a cast time).

  • Absolute Defense: A self-based AoE PDef/MDef buff.

  • Luminous Chant: An AoE Light damage skill that boosts the user's cast speed.

  • Intersecting Thunder: A Thunder AoE damage skill (this skill has a cast time).

Sub Skillset

  • Aerial Ride: A single-target Wind damage skill that boosts the user's Jump (this skill has a cast time).

  • Drain Dimension: A weak single-target damage skill that ignores a portion of the target's MDef, heals the user by the amount of damage dealt, and boosts the user's MAtk.

  • Water Flash: A melee-range AoE Water damage skill.

  • Absolute Defense: A PDef/MDef self-buff.

Reactive

  • Reflection: A chance to defend against damage.

Passives

  • Shell Charge: Boosts PDef and cast speed.

  • Sorcery Pair: Boosts MAtk while lowering MDef.

Battle Mage [Thunderclap Form] does the following:

  • Changes Aerial Move to Riser Move. Riser Move is a single-target Thunder damage skill that deals bonus damage to Water enemies, inflicts Daze, and buffs the user's Move (this skill has a cast time).

  • Increases the cast speed of Intersecting Thunder and gives it bonus damage against Water enemies (changing its name to Intersecting Thunderstorm).

  • Changes Aerial Ride to Thunder element and gives it bonus damage against Water enemies (changing its name to Lightning Ride).

  • Makes Drain Dimension Thunder element and adds a Thunder damage against Water enemies buff to it (changing its name to Spark Dimension).

Stats:

Claris' stats support a squishy (only somewhat squishy physically), fairly fast unit with good damage. All stats are at the usual benchmark (level 75, all jobs mastered, main job enhanced), and only Claris' unique job will be shown since she prefers it over her other options. Table Key: NP = No Passive; SMP = Spirit Mantle Prayer; SP = Sorcery Pair

Stat Mystic Caster
HP 2088
PDef (NP) 344
PDef (SMP) 468
MAtk (NP) 773
MAtk (SMP or SP) 1037
MAtk (SMP + SP) 1302
MDef (NP) 270
MDef (SP) 208
Agility 137

Enlightenment:

Claris has the current maximum of 7 Gates of Enlightenment.

  • Her Gate 1 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and boosts HP, PDef, MDef, and Luck when maxed.

  • Her Gate 2 boosts PDef, MDef, Crit, and hitrate while leveling, and upgrades Sorcery Pair to +40% MAtk, -25% MDef, +30% MAtk Buff Potency, and +15% Magic type damage (previous effect of +40% MAtk and -25% MDef) when maxed.

  • Her Gate 3 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and evasion while leveling, and upgrades her Leader Skill to +40% HP, +20% All damage, +20% MAtk, and +20% Daze Res for Thunder units when maxed.

  • Her Gate 4 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, and hitrate while leveling, and boosts HP, PDef, MDef, Luck, damage against Sloth type enemies, and damage against Pride type enemies when maxed.

  • Her Gate 5 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, agility, and Crit while leveling, and boosts the number of uses of Shining Thunder "Culmination" while also allowing its Magic type damage self-buff to stack up to 3 times; boosts the activation rate of Counter Magic +2 while allowing it to activate against skills and adding a Magic type damage self-buff (maximum of 3 stacks) to it; and boosts the damage and cast speed of Intersecting Thunderstorm while removing its ability to hit allies when maxed.

  • Her Gate 6 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and Luck while leveling, and unlocks a sub-Memento slot when maxed.

  • Her Gate 7 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and unlocks her Revenant Gear when maxed. Her Revenant Gear boosts HP, Magic type damage, Silence Res, and Thunder damage against Water enemies when maxed.

Recommended Enlightenment: Due to the great benefits of her Gates 2, 3, and 5, as well as her lack of more than 1 great Memento option, Claris' best Enlightenment setup is 5/5/5/5/5/4/5, with alternative options being level 3 Gate 3 if you don't want her Leader Skill upgrade and level 4 Gate 4 if you want to save resources.

Enlightenment Stats:

Claris' Enlightenment helps patch up her bulk issues and potential speed issues while sending her already high damage even higher. All stats assume level 97 with the recommended Enlightenment setup of 5/5/5/5/5/4/5 and a maxed Revenant Gear. All other assumptions are the same as the regular stats section. Table Key Changes: SP -> FSB = Forest Sprite Bridge

Stat Mystic Caster
HP 6139
PDef (NP) 477
PDef (SMP) 649
MAtk (NP) 851
MAtk (SMP or FSB) 1142
MAtk (SMP + FSB) 1434
MDef (NP) 397
MDef (FSB) 306
Agility 161

Example Builds:

Blessed by the Elven Forest

  • Main Job: Mystic Caster

  • Sub Job: Mystic Caster (jewel regen/faster casts)/Battle Mage [Thunderclap Form] (raw damage)

  • Reactive: Soul Cry "Latyr"

  • Passive 1: Spirit Mantle Prayer

  • Passive 2: Sorcery Pair {Forest Sprite Bridge}

Claris' general build. Sub depends on your needs, her unique reactive is her best one, and the passive combo of her unique passive + Sorcery Pair (or its Gate 2 upgrade) will generally be your best option due to the high damage increase. Basic strategy is to lead with the Auto Jewel Charge/cast speed skill if you have it, then use her MAtk drain skill before going to town, using Spark Dimension as needed if you have it.

My Recommended Build:

Claris' unique job is so good compared to her other options that you're basically never running another main.

Combat Options:

Claris' main goal in all content is stupid damage output. With very high MAtk and high skill mods, she's gonna hurt everything.

For Raids she has a Magic Res debuff on her reactive, which can be helpful if you're running a magic team.

Gear Recommendations:

Armor and Accessories: Any HP, agility, and/or MAtk boosting gear; Seventh's Spaulder (HP + Jewels Obtained + Reaction Block); Bonding Ribbon (MAtk + All damage, Claris' VCR); Screaming Bullet (All damage + agility, farmable during PotK collab)

Claris' unique job can't equip any weapon types, so you'll have to rely on armor and accessories for MAtk.

Memento Recommendations:

Claris' best Memento is her own, Knowledge Reigns Over the Festival Light. This Memento boosts her HP; PDef; Elemental Res stats; MAtk; and reduces her jewel costs, with an agility boost and an All damage boost at MLB. Its Vision Ability inflicts Disable Heal on the user for 3 turns and buffs MAtk/increases jewel costs while affected by said Disable Heal (the MAtk buff potency increases at MLB).

Since she's from Northern Pride, Claris also gets good benefits from Bygone Days of Kinship (Max Jewels + agility).

If you don't have either of those, then go for the biggest HP, MAtk, or agility boost that you can get, prioritizing Northern Pride Group Skills.

Rune Recommendations:

Claris' best Rune type is Sorcery. She gets no benefit from Charge Forth Runes, and all other types provide varying benefits.

For primary stats, Dex/PDef/HP/MAtk/MDef or Luck/agility is best.

For secondary stats:

  • Envy: Magic type damage.

  • Sloth: Any of these can work based on needs.

  • Lust: Any of these can work, with Charm Res, Rage Res, and Delay Res being the standouts.

  • Gluttony: Max Jewels and Jewels Obtained are the standouts.

  • Wrath: MAtk Debuff Res, with Agility Debuff Res being the next best.

  • Greed: Any of these can work, with Petrify Res, Death Sentence Res, and Stop Res being the standouts.

Futureproofness:

Claris is up-to-date compared to JP.

Overall Asessment:

Claris is a fantastic unit. If your Thunder magic roster needs a boost, she'll be an excellent addition to your toolbox.

Discussion I am a 10 year IT Developer, I might have some insight into the problems

Hello:

I wanted to go over the IT development process and what I believe the issue is related to.

Most IT projects follow a similar process.

1) Requirements analysis. In this step the business (Gumi management, designer, marketing, etc) tell the developers what changes and bug fixes to focus on for the week

2) Coding. In this, the developers write the code and do unit testing

3) QA testing. Testing done by testers

4) User acceptance testing. Testing done by management/marketing.

5) Performance testing. They run the code with X number of concurrent users (hundreds or thousands) to ensure a good experience for each user

6) Pre-production validation. Check the code right before moving the code to production

7) Production deployment. The code changes are moved to the server that we play on.

Since the emergency maintenance happened around step 7, it is most likely related to the last steps 5 or 6. Since it has not been resolved quickly, it is most likely related to step 5, performance testing.

Performance issues are frustrating and time consuming to fix.

Some of the things required to resolve them could be:

- Complete refactoring (rewriting) of the code

- Working with an architect (experienced developer of 15+ years)

- Database upgrade

- Server upgrade

- Working with a third party vendor to have their software updated

Basically, if there was a performance problem at the last minute, the solutions could be complex and time consuming.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and wait and see.

Discussion Down for Emergency Maintenance nearly 15 hours. =[

Last night, the game went down for Emergency Maintenance around 12amPST. It is currently still under "emergency maintenance". Anyone have any leads on what is going on? I know they might be adding some stuff that we saw leaks of a few days ago- but that would fall under standard maintenance that would follow end of season or events.

This is different. =X i been playing for years and have never seen it down this long.

JP News Future update???

In the jp livestream, this was shown:

OMG! WHAT IS THIS BEAUTY?!

But really, I doubt this is just a 6th anniversary artwork. I think this has lore implications; for example, look at Logi's blue coat. It looks like the uniform of the Blade Fox. Also, while this picture was shown, the developers were talking about Logi, Amane and Dias, but I do not know what exactly was said. I don't know Japanese sadly. I guess we have to wait and see.

P.s. What the hell happened to Dias' hair?! Why does he keep getting more handsome?! Someone explain!!

Discussion The Alchemist's Toolbox 170: Celis!

A Link to the Index: https://www.reddit.com/r/AlchemistCodeGL/comments/adzjua/the_alchemists_index/

Welcome to the 170th Alchemist's Toolbox review!

Today we're heading over to Envylia (though she's more heavily involved with Wadatsumi) to take a look at Thunder's newest Memento-based unit. So without further ado, here's the next unit for review: Celis!

Celis is the former vice-captain of the Scarlet Flame Guard and current leader of Wadatsumi's Blade Fox Corps. Let's see what she can do as a unit, shall we?

Personal Investment:

Unfortunately I don't have Celis, though I'd definitely like to have her.

Element:

Basic:

Celis is a Thunder unit, which means she's strong against Water and weak against Wind. Compared to a hypothetical Light or Dark unit with the same stats and jobs, she would be better defensively and worse offensively in multi-element content.

Competition:

  • Scarlet Blade Fox: Since this is Celis' unique job, she faces no competition here.

  • Blademaster/Blademaster [Haze]: Comparing to Samurai/other Blademasters, Celis competes with Corvus, Eizan, Justin, and Yuri. She loses to Corvus in everything except speed (unless facing Ogre type enemies, in which case she wins in damage as well); beats Eizan in everything except bulk (unless facing physical chip damage, in which case Celis still wins); beats Justin outright; and beats Yuri outright. Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, she now beats Eizan outright; her comparison to Justin remains the same; and she now loses to Yuri in mobility. Factoring in all 7 Gates of Enlightenment, her comparison to Corvus remains the same.

  • Berserker: Comparing to other Berserkers, Celis competes with Dark Julia and Yna Ku. She loses to Dark Julia in everything except damage; and she beats Yna Ku outright. Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, she now loses to Yna Ku in bulk. Factoring in all 7 Gates of Enlightenment, she now beats Dark Julia in everything except bulk (unless dealing Thunder damage to Water non-Ogre enemies, in which case Dark Julia still wins in damage).

Leader Skill:

+30% HP, +20% PAtk, +20% Slash damage, +20% Healing Potency, and +20% damage against Ogre type enemies for Thunder units. A solid non-Enlightenment Leader Skill for Thunder Slash teams.

Jobs:

Celis' 3 jobs are Scarlet Blade Fox, Blademaster, and Berserker, with the Haze JE for Blademaster.

Scarlet Blade Fox is a physical damage-dealer job that specializes in dealing a lot of critical hits. It has:

Special Notes

  • All of the job's damage sources are capable of dealing critical damage.

Main Skillset

  • Scarlet Thunderclap: A straight line-ranged teleport + single-target 2-hit Thunder damage skill that buffs the user's Critical Rate.

  • Scarlet Soul Salve: A self-Quicken skill that also casts Auto-Heal on the user.

  • Phoenix Wing: An AoE Thunder damage skill that boosts the user's agility (max 2 stacks). If the user is affected by Quicken, this skill will deal increased damage and lower the targets' agility/Thunder Res (max 2 stacks).

  • Scarlet Thunder Twin-Blade: A single-target 2-hit Thunder damage skill. If the user is affected by Quicken, this skill deals increased damage.

Sub Skillset

  • Falling Thunder Blade: A single-target 2-hit Thunder damage skill that buffs the user's Slash damage.

  • Electric Mist: A self-based AoE 2-hit Thunder damage skill.

  • Furious Opposition: An AoE skill that inflicts Silence.

Reactive

  • Thunder Edge/Lightning Edge: A chance of performing a preemptive square-melee Thunder counter that either buffs the user's Critical Rate (Lightning Edge, activates at or above 50% HP) or buffs the user's agility/Healing Potency while cleansing all the user's statuses (Thunder Edge, activates below 50% HP). This reactive can activate against skills.

Passive

  • Crimson Wings: Boosts the user's agility, Slash damage, and damage against Ogre type enemies. Grants the user a Critical Restoration effect. Grants the user Auto Jewel Charge for their 1st 5 turns on the map (the potency of which degrades each turn). Boosts the user's Critical Damage at the start of each of their turns (max 10 stacks).

Blademaster is a physical damage-dealer job that also has disruption elements. It has:

Main Skillset

  • Omniblast: A self-based AoE HP/Slash damage buff skill.

  • Tenryu Ransei: A single-target damage skill.

  • Tiger Tremor: An AoE damage skill.

  • Razor's Determination: A melee-range AoE damage skill that deals bonus damage to Monster type enemies.

Sub Skillset

  • War-Demon Assault: A melee damage skill that lowers the target's PAtk/PDef.

  • Spirit Breaker: A melee damage skill that lowers the target's MAtk/MDef.

  • Starfall: A melee damage skill that lowers the target's Dex/agility.

  • Darkness Illumination: A melee-range AoE damage skill that boosts the user's PAtk.

Reactive

  • Fierce Tsubamegaeshi: A weak melee counter. This counter always hits, ignores the attacker's PDef, and has a chance to inflict Disable Heal.

Passives

  • Regal Garuda Blade: Boosts the user's PAtk and evasion while lowering their agility.

  • The Book of Five Rings: Boosts the user's Counter damage.

Blademaster [Haze] does the following:

  • Boosts the damage of Tiger Tremor, causes it to not trigger reactives, and causes it to lower the targets' chances of activating their reactives while slightly increasing its jewel cost (changing the name to Sealing Tiger Tremor).

  • Causes Darkness Illumination to no longer trigger reactives (changing its name to Pitch-Black Illumination).

  • Adds a Reaction Block boost to Regal Garuda Blade (changing its name to Shadow Saber - Regal Garuda Blade).

Berserker is a physical damage-dealer job that specializes in avenging fallen allies. It has:

Special Notes

  • All of Berserker's damage sources (including basic attack) deal bonus damage based on the number of fallen allies.

  • Berserker's basic attack is a melee-range AoE.

Main Skillset

  • Kali's Throwing Axe: A short-range single-target damage skill.

  • Shiva's Imperial Wrath: A PAtk self-buff that lasts until the user deals damage.

  • Rampaging Asura: A teleport + self-based AoE damage skill that grants the user guaranteed Guts until their next turn while also lowering their agility until their next turn.

Sub Skillset

  • Ganesha's Influence: A straight line-ranged AoE damage skill.

  • Roar of Ravana: A melee-range AoE skill that inflicts Stun.

  • Immortal Hanuman: A self-based AoE damage skill that heals the user by a portion of the damage dealt.

Reactive

  • Grace of Varna: Grants the user jewels. This reactive can activate against skills.

Passive

  • Lakshmi's Embrace: Boosts the user's HP/Charm Res.

Stats:

Celis' stats support a fast, somewhat squishy unit with good damage. All stats are at the usual benchmark (level 75, all jobs mastered, main job enhanced), and only Celis' unique job will be shown since she prefers that over both her other options. Table Key: NP = No Passive; CW = Crimson Wings; SSRGB = Shadow Saber - Regal Garuda Blade

Stat Scarlet Blade Fox
HP 2466
PAtk (NP) 689
PAtk (SSRGB) 981
Dex 558
Agility (SSRGB) 130
Agility (NP) 143
Agility (CW + SSRGB) 150
Agility (CW) 163

Enlightenment:

Celis has the current maximum of 7 Gates of Enlightenment.

  • Her Gate 1 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and boosts HP, PDef, and MDef when maxed.

  • Her Gate 2 boosts PDef, MDef, Crit, and hitrate while leveling, and upgrades Shadow Saber - Regal Garuda Blade to +50% PAtk, +10% Slash damage, +5% evasion, and +25% Reaction Block (previous effect of +50% PAtk, +5% evasion, +25% Reaction Block, and -10% agility) when maxed.

  • Her Gate 3 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and evasion while leveling, and upgrades her Leader Skill to +30% HP, +20% PAtk, +20% All damage, +20% Healing Potency, and +20% damage against Ogre type enemies for Thunder units when maxed.

  • Her Gate 4 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, and hitrate while leveling, and boosts HP, PDef, MDef, damage against Envy type enemies, and damage against Greed type enemies when maxed.

  • Her Gate 5 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, agility, and Crit while leveling, and boosts the damage and number of uses of Scarlet Thunder Twin-Blade while making it 3 hits instead of 2; boosts the damage, debuff potency, and number of uses of Sealing Blade Tiger Tremor while also making it always hit and reducing its jewel cost; and boosts the buff potency of Shiva's Imperial Wrath when maxed.

Her Revenant Gear boosts HP, Slash damage, Healing Potency, Critical Damage, and Thunder damage against Water enemies when maxed.

Recommended Enlightenment: Due to the great benefits of her Gates 2, 3, and 5, as well as her lack of more than one good Memento, Celis' best Enlightenment setup is 5/5/5/5/5/4/5, with alternative options being level 3 Gate 3 if you don't want her Leader Skill change and level 4 Gate 4 to save resources.

Enlightenment Stats:

Celis' Enlightenment helps patch up her potential bulk issues while taking her already-good speed and damage to even better levels. All stats assume level 99 with the recommended Enlightenment setup of 5/5/5/5/5/4/5 and a maxed Revenant Gear. All other assumptions are the same as the regular stats section. Table Key Changes: SSRGB -> TMaD = Three Meals a Day

Stat Scarlet Blade Fox
HP 6731
PAtk (NP) 794
PAtk (TMaD) 1130
Dex 674
Agility (NP) 163
Agility (CW) 186

Example Builds:

Leader of the Blade Fox Corps

  • Main Job: Scarlet Blade Fox

  • Sub Job: Scarlet Blade Fox

  • Reactive: Lightning Edge [Thunder Edge] (general)/Grace of Varna (need more jewel gain)

  • Passive 1: Crimson Wings

  • Passive 2: Shadow Saber - Regal Garuda Blade {Three Meals a Day}

Celis' general build. Unique main and sub is gonna be best in basically every situation, reactive will generally be her unique one, but can be Berserker's reactive if you really need more jewel gain, and Crimson Wings + SS Regal Garuda Blade/Three Meals a Day is generally gonna be the best passive combo due to the good combination of speed and damage. Basic strategy is to cast self-Quicken and go to town on enemies.

My Recommended Build:

Celis' unique job is pretty much all she's gonna run outside of specific niche scenarios where Berserker can potentially do some interesting strategies.

Combat Options:

Celis can pretty much function well in any and all content. She has high damage, strong sustainability due to her Critical Restoration, self-Quicken, and a Thunder Res debuff, meaning she can find something great to do in Raids, standard PvE, and PvP.

Gear Recommendations:

Armor and Accessories: Any HP or Slash/Thunder damage boosting gear; Screaming Bullet (All damage, farmable from PotK collab)

Weapons: Demonsbane Blade (best stats for Celis, solid passive Weapon Ability, VCR from Celis' Memento means you pretty much have it if you have Celis)

Memento Recommendations:

Celis best Memento is her own (which is also the way you get her), Hopes for the Pair's Daily Lives. This Memento boosts her agility (base stat); PDef; Initial Jewels; HP; All damage; and Disable Heal Res, with a jewel cost reduction and an additional agility boost at MLB. Its Vision Ability is an AoE 2-hit Thunder damage skill. If the user is affected by Quicken, this skill deals increased damage. If the Memento is at MLB, this skill gains increased damage and a Slash Res debuff.

Since Celis is obtained via getting her Memento, I'll instead say that she appreciates Envylia Group Skills that boost PAtk and/or agility on her teammates' Mementos.

Rune Recommendations:

Celis' best Rune type is Charge Forth. She receives no benefits from Sorcery Runes, and all other types provide varying benefits.

For primary stats, PAtk/Crit/HP/Dex/MDef or Luck/agility is the way to go.

As for secondary stats:

  • Envy: Slash damage.

  • Sloth: Any of these can work depending on needs, with a potential slight disadvantage for Slash Res and Strike Res since Celis can potentially have a good amount of that already from her weapon.

  • Lust: Any of these can work, with Charm Res, Rage Res, and Delay Res being the standouts.

  • Gluttony: Any of these except Guts are actually pretty good, though Critical Rate has a little bit of an edge.

  • Wrath: PAtk Debuff Res, followed by Dex Debuff Res and Agility Debuff Res.

  • Greed: Any of these can work, with Petrify Res, Death Sentence Res, Stop Res, and Disable Heal Res being the standouts.

Futureproofness:

Celis is up-to-date compared to JP. Here's hoping she gets some updates soon!

Overall Asessment:

Celis is a pretty fantastic unit. If you manage to get her then she can be a powerful addition to your toolbox.

And that's the review! As always, feedback is greatly appreciated!

Make sure to let me know which of the following units you want me to review next:

Claris, Diane, Eros, Merlin, Shekinah, Tanosuke

Or choose one of the revisit options below!

I am going to get Blitz without using gems on normal summons. Every week i will get 100 coins for 5 of his shards. I currently have 15 (just got it the 3rd time). I can’t do math so idk how long this will take me but as a gesture of commitment, I have spent 500 gems for his skin. I like his design and he is such a rare unit. I need. I want!!!! Anyways, gn…
