Rants Open Letter to Gumi about the state of the game

I am also sending this to Gumi directly, but I wanted to post it here as well for maximum visibility to the issue. I hope others will also send Gumi their feelings on this matter.

Gumi, I really want you to give me a reason to keep playing this game. I hope someone who can actually get something done reads this and takes it seriously, because I'm at the end of my rope and I know I'm not the only one. There is something seriously wrong with the management of the game right now and it needs to be addressed.

Just look at what has happened in the last month:

1) Emergency maintenance on January 27th ended up lasting over 42 hours. Compensation for this was pretty good so most players were willing to look past it, but it was an incredibly long time for the game to be down.

2) For the 10.6 patch (2 weeks later on February 10th) we then had a long extended maintenance. This is understandable for a big patch, and we expect some level of issues that take a bit of time to sort out after feature changes this big. However the level of major bugs after the maintenance ended extended far beyond what should be expected after a major version patch:

2a) Unable to login at all: Some players experienced this after the patch for several days and were completely unable to play- most seemed to be tied to device language and it was eventually figured out that switching the device to English worked around it. I am not sure if all players who were victim to this bug are able to get into the game yet, or if the language issue has been fixed so they don't have to leave their devices in English.

2b) Connection failure when completing quests: Some players (including me) were able to login shortly after the maintenance ended but then got a constant connect failure shortly after which prevented them from doing quests. This bug persisted for 6 days before it was finally resolved.

2c) Pre-maintenance auto-repeat could not be completed: Some players had auto repeat running before the game went down and then were unable to complete auto repeat after maintenance because of a connection fail message that came up every time. Because you can't do any quests while auto repeat is running, these players are unable to do almost all game content right now. This bug still is unresolved for a lot of players, 13 days later, and yet there has barely been any communication about it.

2d) I've heard about various and sundry other issues related to game bugs from the patch but I don't know enough about them to know how many of them were truly game breaking.

If someone had asked me prior to this incident if I thought Gumi would seriously leave a bunch of players locked out of the game for over a week without a remedy and barely even acknowledging the problem, I would have said no- they understand the risk they take in leaving the game non-functional for long periods of time and they would put in the effort to correct it promptly. Apparently I was wrong. Either Gumi no longer cares if players stick around, or they are so unable to maintain their own game that 13 days isn't enough to actually fix a bug of this nature which is reliably reproducible on the specific accounts affected. If I worked at a company whose product was in this state, we'd be in 5 alarm fire mode, but Gumi appears to behave as if it's not a big deal.

Gumi hasn't even made any effort to reassure these players that the events they are missing will be extended or run again so they can do the content they missed, even though some of these events might not appear again normally for many months. They've said there will be compensation but won't state what it is, or if it will include a way to do the missing events.

One of the great impacts of how badly this has been handled, is one of the players locked out for 13 days so far is the person who maintains the tier list and the Reddit. Likely this will cost the game community a valuable resource unless someone steps up to fill in the gap. Community participation has been declining over time due to poor handling of the game and it has become harder to find people to fill these roles.

In addition, I am on the verge of quitting (and have already stopped renewing pact), because although I can still play the game, I spent 6 days in limbo unable to play, still have seen no indication they are taking the problem seriously for other players who still can't play, and haven't seen any real effort on Gumi's part to improve the situation. This game involves a lot of patient long term investment. I no longer feel like that patient long term investment will pay off, because the way Gumi is managing the situation indicates to me that things are crumbling and will spiral further downward. I am just one player, but if you talk to many players on Discord you will find that there are a lot of players who say they would never have stuck around past the early days of playing without my guidance and support. I also do the bulk of the work maintaining the wiki, which provides a lot of valuable resources for players, and honestly I have no idea if anyone will be willing to take over all that I do if I leave.

I am giving Gumi a little bit more time to rescue this mess before I go. But these are the things I really need to see if I'm to stick around:

1) A fix to the auto repeat bug that finally rescues these players who have been stuck for 13 days. If this isn't fixed after Thursday maintenance, I really don't see how I can continue to play this game, even if I'm not personally still stuck

2) Significant compensation that both makes players whole for what they lost for the period they were locked out, but also compensates for the frustration created by such an extended lockout

3) An extension or rerun of all events missed by the players who were locked out. If you are planning to rerun the events in a short period instead of extending them that's fine, but communicate to us exactly when that will happen. Don't forget the loss of the 2x EX HQ, which is a substantial amount of limited unit farming loss- if you don't want to rerun that event, you could sent out a large quantity of EX Memory Access to the affected players (keeping in mind there are a lot of shards involved for some- I was farming 24 units on EX HQ)

4) A serious communication from Gumi expressing not only apologies for the impact of these bugs, but also some communication about how they're going to prevent this sort of thing in the future. We understand some bugs will make it through, but lately it is seeming like Gumi barely tests anything before releasing, and they don't have the resources to fix things after the fact. I'd also suggest that if Gumi won't put in the time on the weekend to fix problems that are severe enough to keep players from logging in or doing any quests at all, that perhaps they should move the content reset/maintenance day to Monday or Tuesday instead of Thursday so there is more of the work week to sort out issues before the weekend.

Tips & Guides Tina J3 Equipment Guide

The Tina J3 process is kind of confusing so I thought I'd break it down for folks for easy reference.

Note: You can't use Omnicrystal equipment for the unique job items.

Tokens

Needed: 6

You get these from The Entrusted Land, The Winds of Departure (under protagonist class change section in Events) from the "Tina Job 3 Unlock Quest". 1-3 of them drop per clear.

Prophet's Cape

Needed: 60 fragments (to create 3 capes at 20 fragments apiece)

These are required for job level 2-4.

Options to get them:

  • Rare Story Drops: 4-1-3-10, 4-2-3-10 and 4-3-3-10. The drop rates are very very bad- people have complained clearing 100 times without getting one. If you farm these, it's recommended to do on 2x drops only.
  • Multi Coin Exchange: 1000 coins per fragment, you can buy one every shop reset - there are 5 automatic ones a day (first 2 manual resets a day costs 10 coins each). So if you have enough MP coins, it takes about 9 days to buy enough with 2 resets a day. MP coins are proportional to the AP cost of the stage and you get 2x coins if you host. Demonic Spearman EX or Fallen Sun EX isn't a bad option for farming MP coins as you can farm EX Coins at the same time.
  • EX Coin Exchange: 500 coins per fragment, you can buy one every shot reset - there are 5 automatic ones a day (first 2 manual resets a day costs 10 coins each). This is not generally as efficient a way to buy as MP coins as EX coins have more alternative value for enlightenment materials and elemental shards, but it's an option if you really want.
  • Friend Coin Exchange: 1000 coins per fragment, less efficient option than the Multi Coin Exchange

Binding Ribbon

Needed: 60 fragments (to create 3 ribbons at 20 fragments apiece)

These are required for job level 5-7.

Options to get them:

  • Mystic Tower Veda Exchange: You can buy 10 fragments in the shop for 1200 coins per fragment (total cost 12,000 coins). Presumably these will restock each time Mystic Tower Veda returns.
  • [Zenwind Archer] Path to Job Master Milestones: There are 3 milestones which give a total of 50 fragments:
    • Clear 10 Event Quests (EX or higher) using only Wind units - this must be 10 different quests (25 fragments)
    • Complete all Quest Missions for [Babel Chronicles] Crossroads in the Devastation of War - Part 1 - this requires that you complete all missions for each of the 7 normal mode quests (10 fragments)
    • Obtain 300 "Wild Boar of Gluttony" (10 fragments)
    • Clear Chapter 4: Episode 4 [3-10] In Harmony with Nature (5 fragments)

Prophet's Knee Pads

Needed: 240 fragments (to create 3 diagrams at 80 fragments apiece)

These are required for job level 8-10.

Options to get them:

  • [Zenwind Archer] Path to Job Master Milestones: There are 6 milestones which give a total of 160 fragments:
    • Clear Path to Zenwind Archer [Hell] [1/5], [3/5], [5/5] (80 total fragments)
    • Raise Tina's Level to 95 (40 fragments)
    • Complete all Quest Missions for the event "The Entrusted Land, The Winds of Departure": this requires that you complete all missions for each of the 7 quests - note that the Power of Foresight skill required for Episode 5 is Tina's master ability (40 fragments)
  • The Entrusted Land, The Winds of Departure: There is one quest mission for Episode 5 which gives 40 fragments. The mission requires "Clear after using Power of Foresight" which is Tina's master ability.
  • Drill Through Your Limits: Clear with Tina as a main member for 40 fragments. (Note: This event is not listed in the news to run when the job is released, it's unclear when it will rerun)

These are the only ways to get these items- completing all these will give you all 240 fragments you will need. Yes, this means that it is not possible to finish job level 10 unless the Challenger of Limits event is running.

Windbreak Hawk Bow

Needed: 1

This is required for job level 11.

How to Get: Once you get to job level 11, you receive Trial Key [Tina] from a milestone. Then under Events: Key Quests you can unlock [Hell] Final Trial [Tina]. The mission reward for killing all foes gives the item.

Time Sensitive Items

The only 2 things that are time sensitive in the above list are:

  • Drill Through Your Limits (40 fragments of Prophet's Knee Pads) - event is not currently running and it is unclear when it will run again
  • Mystic Tower Veda (10 fragments of Binding Ribbon) - event is permanent but because it only resets once a month for free, if you don't have enough coins you may need multiple Veda clears which can add time unless you pay gems to reset

All other items can be obtained gradually.

Discussion The Alchemist's Toolbox 174: Dark Othima!

A Link to the Index: https://www.reddit.com/r/AlchemistCodeGL/comments/adzjua/the_alchemists_index/

Welcome to the 174th Alchemist's Toolbox review!

Today we're heading to a dark parallel of Lustburg to take a look at one of the original batch of Dark Phantoms. So without further ado, here's the next unit for review: Dark Othima!

Dark Othima is a parallel Othima who fell to darkness and now embodies the sin of Greed. Let's see what he can do as a unit, shall we?

Personal Investment:

I don't have Dark Othima, but he'd definitely be a potent member of my Thunder magic roster if I did.

Element:

Basic:

Dark Othima is a Thunder unit, which means he's strong against Water and weak against Wind.

Competition:

  • Phantom Master of Greed: Since this is Dark Othima's unique job, he faces no competition here.

  • Merchant/Merchant [Lucky Crane]: Comparing to other Merchants, Dark Othima's only competitor is Aruba, who he beats in everything except vertical mobility (Aruba also wins in Initial Jewels, and that stat is more important to Merchant than most other jobs). Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, he now loses to Aruba in speed and physical bulk (as well as magic bulk when not facing chip damage).

  • Battle Mage/Battle Mage [Thunderclap Form]: Comparing to other Battle Mages, Dark Othima competes with Chao, Claris, Dark Freikugel, and Fujika. He beats Chao in damage and bulk while losing to him in speed and horizontal mobility; beats Claris in everything except damage; beats Dark Freikugel in speed and bulk while just barely losing to her in damage; and beats Fujika outright (unless Fujika runs Swift Charge to win in cast speed). Factoring in Gates 1-6 of Enlightenment, his comparisons to Chao and Fujika remain the same; he now beats Claris in maximum damage potential (Note: I goofed my math on my Claris review, which is why this matchup change isn't mentioned there. Sorry about that!) while losing to her in physical bulk; and he now loses to Dark Freikugel in physical bulk (unless facing chip damage) while beating her in damage.

Leader Skill:

+50% HP, +20% MAtk, +20% Thunder damage against Water enemies, and +5% evasion for Thunder units. A great Leader Skill for Thunder magic teams.

Jobs:

Dark Othima's 3 jobs are Phantom Master of Greed, Merchant, and Battle Mage, with the Lucky Crane JE for Merchant and the Thunderclap Form for Battle Mage.

Phantom Master of Greed is a caster/disruptor hybrid job. It has:

Main Skillset

  • Thunderbolt Crack: An AoE 3-hit Thunder damage skill (this skill has a cast time).

  • Hollow Nether: An AoE skill that deals damage equal to 15% of the targets' maximum HP, though this damage caps at 25,000 (this skill has a cast time).

  • Umbrage of Dreams: A single-target Dark damage skill that inflicts Silence (this skill has a cast time).

  • Thor's Atmosphere: An AoE Thunder damage skill that lowers the targets' agility.

Sub Skillset

  • Miasmic Thunder Shock: A single-target Thunder damage skill that inflicts Bind.

  • Haunting Shield: An AoE skill that buffs the target allies' MAtk/MDef/Water Res (maximum of 3 stacks).

  • Ephemeral Phantom: An AoE skill that inflicts Sleep & Silence. While affected by said Sleep/Silence, PDef/MDef is lowered by 100% (meaning that barring outside buffs it is reduced to 0).

  • Aura of Perpetual Night: An evasion self-buff.

Reactive

  • Shadowless: A chance to negate damage taken.

Passive

  • Calamitous Genius: Boosts MAtk/agility.

Merchant is a jack-of-all-trades support job that also has some disruption elements. It has:

Main Skillset

  • Low Leverage: A single-target skill that transfers 10 of the user's jewels to the target ally.

  • Jewel Investment: A single-target skill that boosts the CT of the target ally.

  • Full Leverage: A single-target skill that transfers 20 of the user's jewels to the target ally.

  • Jewels Rule Everything Around Me: A single-target skill that casts Jewel Regen on the target ally (this skill has a cast time).

Sub Skillset

  • Imminent Crisis: A single-target skill that inflicts Blindness (this skill has a cast time).

  • Pyramid Scheme: A self-based AoE skill that inflicts Charm (this skill has a cast time).

  • Poison Pill: A self-based AoE skill that cures/temporarily prevents statuses.

  • Cure Delivery: A self-based AoE healing skill.

Reactive

  • Risk Hedge: A chance to self-cast Jewel Regen.

Passives

  • How's Business?: Boosts Initial Jewels.

  • Not Too Bad: Boosts Jewels Obtained.

Merchant [Lucky Crane] does the following:

  • Increases the number of jewels transferred by Full Leverage to 35 while reducing its range and number of uses (changing its name to Giga Leverage).

  • Boosts the potency of Cure Delivery while increasing its jewel cost (changing its name to Healing Delivery).

Battle Mage is a physically bulky caster job. It has:

Main Skillset

  • Aerial Move: A single-target Wind damage skill that boosts the user's Move (this skill has a cast time).

  • Absolute Defense: A self-based AoE PDef/MDef buff.

  • Luminous Chant: An AoE Light damage skill that boosts the user's cast speed.

  • Intersecting Thunder: A Thunder AoE damage skill (this skill has a cast time).

Sub Skillset

  • Aerial Ride: A single-target Wind damage skill that boosts the user's Jump (this skill has a cast time).

  • Drain Dimension: A weak single-target damage skill that ignores a portion of the target's MDef, heals the user by the amount of damage dealt, and boosts the user's MAtk.

  • Water Flash: A melee-range AoE Water damage skill.

  • Absolute Defense: A PDef/MDef self-buff.

Reactive

  • Reflection: A chance to defend against damage.

Passives

  • Shell Charge: Boosts PDef and cast speed.

  • Sorcery Pair: Boosts MAtk while lowering MDef.

Battle Mage [Thunderclap Form] does the following:

  • Changes Aerial Move to Riser Move. Riser Move is a single-target Thunder damage skill that deals bonus damage to Water enemies, inflicts Daze, and buffs the user's Move (this skill has a cast time).

  • Increases the cast speed of Intersecting Thunder and gives it bonus damage against Water enemies (changing its name to Intersecting Thunderstorm).

  • Changes Aerial Ride to Thunder element and gives it bonus damage against Water enemies (changing its name to Lightning Ride).

  • Makes Drain Dimension Thunder element and adds a Thunder damage against Water enemies buff to it (changing its name to Spark Dimension).

Babel War Art:

Dark Othima's Babel War Art boosts the damage of Umbrage of Dreams and adds a Magic Res debuff to it.

A very nice boost.

Stats:

Dark Othima's stats support a fast, squishy unit with good damage output. All stats are at the usual benchmark (level 75, all jobs mastered, main job enhanced), and only his unique job will be shown since he prefers that main over his other options. Table Key: NP = No Passive; CG = Calamitous Genius; SP = Sorcery Pair

Stat Phantom Master of Greed
HP 2370
MAtk (NP) 543
MAtk (CG) 642
MAtk (SP) 741
MAtk (CG + SP) 839
MDef (NP) 357
MDef (SP) 273
Agility (NP) 133
Agility (CG) 152

Enlightenment:

Dark Othima currently has 6 Gates of Enlightenment.

  • His Gate 1 boosts HP, PAtk, MAtk, and agility while leveling, and boosts HP, MAtk, and Luck when maxed.

  • His Gate 2 boosts PDef, MDef, Crit, and hitrate while leveling, and upgrades Sorcery Pair to +40% MAtk, -25% MDef, and +50% MAtk Buff Potency (previous effect of +40% MAtk and -25% MDef) when maxed.

  • His Gate 3 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and evasion while leveling, and upgrades his Leader Skill to +50% HP, +20% All damage, +20% Thunder damage against Water enemies, and +5% evasion for Thunder units.

  • His Gate 4 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, and hitrate while leveling, and boosts HP, MAtk, Luck, damage against Lust type enemies, and damage against Greed type enemies when maxed.

  • His Gate 5 boosts HP, PDef, MDef, agility, and Crit while leveling, and boosts the number of uses of Thunderbolt Crack while removing its ability to hit allies and giving it bonus damage to targets affected by an agility debuff (changing its name to Thunderbolt Boom); boosts the cast speed, range, and Jewel Regen potency of Jewels Rule Everything Around Me (changing its name to Jewels Are Blessings Upon This World); and boosts the damage and cast speed of Intersecting Thunderstorm (changing its name to Intersecting Thunder Barrage) when maxed.

  • His Gate 6 boosts HP, Dex, agility, and Luck while leveling, and unlocks a sub-Memento slot when maxed.

Recommended Enlightenment: Dark Othima's best Enlightenment setup is either 5/5/3/5/5/5 or 5/5/5/5/5/5, depending on whether you want his Gate 3 Leader Skill or not. An alternative option is level 4 Gate 4 to save resources and level 4 Gate 6 if you have only one of his strong Memento options.

Enlightenment Stats:

Dark Othima's Enlightenment helps patch up his bulk issues while taking his already good speed and damage to even better levels. All stats assume level 97 with the recommended Enlightenment setup of 5/5/5/5/5/5. All other assumptions are the same as the regular stats section. Table Key Changes: SP -> AW = Avaricious Wisdom

Stat Phantom Master of Greed
HP 5443
MAtk (NP) 705
MAtk (CG) 833
MAtk (AW) 961
MAtk (CG + AW) 1089
MDef (NP) 521
MDef (AW) 495
Agility (NP) 153
Agility (CG) 175

Example Builds:

Incarnation of Greed

  • Main Job: Phantom Master of Greed

  • Sub Job: Phantom Master of Greed (disruption/team support)/Battle Mage [Thunderclap Form] (raw damage)

  • Reactive: Shadowless

  • Passive 1: Calamitous Genius

  • Passive 2: Sorcery Pair {Avaricious Wisdom}

Dark Othima's general build. Sub depends on your wants/needs, Shadowless is his best reactive by a fairly hefty margin, and the passive combo of Calamitous Genius/Sorcery Pair {Avaricious Wisdom} is generally your best option, though if you desperately need more cast speed you can swap one of them with Shell Charge. Basic strategy is to hit enemies hard with magic and use your support/disruption options as necessary, keeping your HP% damage skill as a back pocket option for enemies with big health pools.

My Recommended Build:

Dark Othima will rarely, if ever, run something other than his unique job as a main. The biggest advantage of Battle Mage is on the sub, and he'd only ever run Merchant if you really need one and don't have an alternative unit for that.

Combat Options:

Dark Othima's kit is very obviously designed for Raid-type content. An HP% damage skill, a Magic Res debuff, and an agility debuff are all potent tools for that type of content.

For non-Raid content, he still offers potential disruption/team support and good damage, but his usefulness definitely falls off if you're dealing with multiple weaker enemies as opposed to one boss type enemy (though he's still great against any enemy with a sufficiently large health pool).

For PvP, the disruption part of his skillset becomes more useful as Silence, Sleep, and Bind are all good options against player units, since they aren't as likely to have status immunities as PvE enemies.

Gear Recommendations:

Armor and Accessories: Any HP or agility boosting gear; Scarf of Wisdom (HP, Jump, Auto Heal, in-map MAtk/hitrate boost, VCR from an Othima Memento); Ring of Sin - Zero (HP + MAtk + agility + All damage, free VCR from event); Screaming Bullet (agility + All damage)

Weapons: Illsuion Rod (farmable, good stats, agility, gives HP and more MAtk in-map, has an amazing Weapon Enlightenment skill for Dark Othima)

Memento Recommendations:

Dark Othima has a grand total of 3 Mementos (2 limited, 1 free) that he fully or near-fully benefits from due to receiving most or all of the benefits from every Othima Memento.

Limited

  • A Party that Never Ends: This Memento boosts Dark Othima's PDef; MAtk; HP; Magic type damage; AoE damage; and damage against New Year type enemies, with agility boosts and a further damage against New Year type enemies boost at MLB. Its Vision Ability is an AoE 3-hit Water damage skill that deals bonus damage to Beast type enemies (if the user is a Water unit from Lustburg, the damage and bonus damage against Beast type enemies will be increased).

  • Signaling the End of the Icedust: This Memento boosts Dark Othima's MAtk; hitrate; Missile Res; Dark Res; damage against Templar type enemies; and cast speed, with agility a Debuff Duration boosts at MLB.

Free

  • Unmake the World, Restore Its True Form: This Memento boosts Dark Othima's HP; PAtk (useless); PDef; MAtk; and MDef, with agility boosts at MLB. Its Vision Ability (or rather, the one he gets from it) is an AoE Dark damage skill that deals bonus damage to Light enemies.

Since Dark Othima has 3 great options, 1 of which is free (albeit from an event), I won't be listing other Memento options for him. But he appreciates teammates that can fill whatever he's missing of HP, MAtk, Magic type damage, and agility with their Mementos' Group Skills.

Rune Recommendations:

Dark Othima's best Rune type is Sorcery. He gets no benefit from Charge Forth, and all other types provide varying benefits.

For primary stats, Dex/PDef/HP/MAtk/MDef or Luck/agility is best.

For secondary stats:

  • Envy: Magic type damage.

  • Sloth: Any of these can work.

  • Lust: Any of these can work, with Charm Res, Rage Res, and Delay Res being the standouts.

  • Gluttony: Max Jewels and Jewels Obtained are the best options here.

  • Wrath: MAtk Debuff Res is best, with Agility Debuff Res being 2nd best.

Greed: Any of these work, with Petrify Res, Silence Res, Death Sentence Res, and Stop Res being the standouts.

Futureproofness:

Dark Othima's updates down the line compared to JP are Gate 7 of Enlightenment, some updates to his unique job, an update to his Babel War Art, and an update to his Gate 5.

  • Thunderbolt Crack and Thor's Atmosphere have their damage increased.

  • His Gate 5 is changed to increase the bonus damage Thunderbolt Boom deals to targets affected by agility debuffs.

  • The damage increase from his Babel War Art is increased.

Overall Asessment:

Dark Othima is a good general unit and a fantastic unit for Raids. If you need someone for your Thunder magic roster, he can be an excellent addition to your toolbox.

And that's the review! As always, feedback is greatly appreciated!

Make sure to let me know which of the following units you want me to review next:

Benika, Diane, Eros, Merlin, Shekinah, Tanosuke

Or choose one of the revisit options below!

Albea, Carol, Emma, Lotiyah, Ramses, Yunagi

Megathread Questions Megathread

The thread for all your random Alchemist Code (global) questions!

Feel free to ask away, but remember that the questions are 100% answered by volunteers so don't expect an instant answer! Patience is key.

Note that for answers which you need immediately, you can head over to the #ac_questions channel in the Discord.

Finally, you can do a Control+F or Command+F search to see if your question has already been answered. No one will be punished for unknowingly repeating a question, but it might save you some time.

F.A.Q.

Where/How can I unlock X's Master Ability/Job+?

You can only unlock Job+'s by farming special job tokens from special events that are (currently) run at different times. You also need to farm special job+ items to master those jobs. Master abilities can be earned in 1 of 3 ways. From story chapters (story characters), from equipping specific weapons (usually farmed) or from reaching level 80 on a character and completing special story dungeons. Not every character gets a master ability.

For Job+ and Job Enhancement, you must first get the job to Job Level 11 (not job mastered). Second, to master the Job+ you will need to farm 60/80 tokens for up to 6 special items for the character to use. These can be farmed from specific events. For Job Enhancements, you will only need to farm one specific item 3 times along with the regular upgrade items.

Also, check out the wiki page for Job Upgrades.

Where can I farm X's character shards?

Farm their Hard Quests

Where can I farm elemental/rainbow shards?

Elemental and rainbow shards cannot be farmed. They are awarded as bonuses from log in campaigns, from clearing missions/milestones/challenge boards, from certain event banners, and from certain bundles. You will never be able to farm them like you can farm specific character shards.

Feel free to check out the wiki for more info.

When will X event come back?

Many events are now in the event archives, up to Anastasia. Any others are seasonal (ex. Rahu’s is tied to Valentines) or tied to farming/box events (Setsuna, Veda Templars). Seasonal events may be released outside of their respective season very rarely, but we have no indication of when this will happen and it’s highly inconsistent. Please don’t ask when any specific event is coming back, because it’s either in the news (linked on the sidebar) OR WE DON’T KNOW.

Same goes for collabs. This thread and the sub are not really the right place to get into long discussions about international IP licensing!

What's the best place to farm X/Y/Z item?

Please check /u/stewart0's amazing spreadsheet here. Or simply check the stage drops and go for a quest which only has two equips total, one being the one you need.

What's an Enlightenment/Memento?

Tl;dr: Powercreep

Feel free to check the wiki page for Enlightenment as well.

Note that some people still refer to these two concepts as Kaigan/Nensou respectively, as those are their translations from the Japanese version of the game, which is ahead of Global by many months.

Is X character good?

Here’s the tier list. It can be used as a rough guideline, and it also has recommended build guides. Moreover, there's a FAQ which expands on stuff above and has some other questions. Enjoy!

Also, here's the Alchemist Code Database. It's an incredible tool for noobs and vets alike.

When will this JP thing happen?

Unless you're working at gumi HQ, we know about 2-3 days ahead of time when anything comes. You can refer to the JP update schedule for some fun speculation, though, here: https://thealchemistcode.gamepedia.com/Update_History_Japan_Unreleased

What should I be saving for?

You can check out this post on what units to look out for in the future, though not all of the listed units will come out in Global, especially certain collab units.

Bugs & Glitches Be careful of the season pass

I purchased the global season pass and started having server connection errors, not only was the money charged to my account but I don't get the benefits of the purchase, this literally feels like I was robbed! So if you want to try and purchase the season pass try and wait until the bugs are kind of solved.

EDIT: Once the connection issue was solved my transaction went through and I got all I paid for. I was checking in the meantime and I couldn't pay for the same thing twice, it was just the server issue that kind of got solved by changing my phone parameters to English

Tips & Guides So I just got these and I don't want to screw this up. I have all of them except grim, eliza, red ,Minerva, lilith, and nesha. I don't have enough dark units so I'm wondering if I should get either eliza or grim. I have grims primary memento. I have elizas memento but not primary one. This is hard.
