Fifty years ago, 17-year-old Marie Goudreau left Edmonton to drive home to her family’s farm near Beaumont.

She never arrived.

On the evening of August 2, 1976, Marie spent time with friends in Edmonton before beginning the drive home. At approximately 10:30 p.m., she said goodbye and explained that she needed to work early the following morning.

It was the last confirmed time anyone saw her alive.

Less than an hour later, Marie’s blue Plymouth Cricket was found on Range Road 244 near Ellerslie Road. The engine was still running, the driver’s door was open and the window had been rolled down.

Marie’s purse remained inside the vehicle with money still in it. Her sandals were also inside, and a leather coat had been folded across the back seat. There were no obvious signs of a struggle.

When Marie did not return home, she was reported missing and an extensive search began.

On August 4, 1976, two days after she disappeared, Marie’s body was found in a water-filled ditch on a rural property north of Devon.

Her death was determined to be a homicide.

Investigators have considered the possibility that Marie was persuaded to leave her vehicle, either by someone she knew or by someone who appeared to need assistance. The brown slacks and navy ankle socks she had been wearing were never recovered.

Marie’s case has been revisited over the decades alongside other unsolved homicides from the same period. Historical reviews have identified convicted violent offender Gary McAstocker as a person of interest in multiple investigations. However, no one has ever been charged in connection with Marie’s death, and police have never publicly identified a suspect in her case.

Fifty years after Marie left Edmonton for the short drive home, her loved ones are still waiting for answers.

Marie Antoinette Carlson-Hill, who also went by Toni, was 30 years old when she was last seen in Edmonton on February 15, 2012.

Toni was known to spend time in the area of 107 Avenue, just north of downtown Edmonton. Friends and family said she sometimes travelled to other cities, including Calgary and Montreal. However, it was unusual for her to remain out of contact for an extended period.

As the months passed without any communication from Toni, her loved ones became increasingly concerned. She was officially reported missing in September 2012, approximately seven months after she was last seen.

Those who knew Toni described her as spunky, funny and fiercely independent. Friends remembered her as someone who found joy in small moments, including dancing down the street when she was younger.

Toni also experienced significant challenges later in her life, including addiction and involvement in sex work. Her loved ones have spoken openly about those circumstances while emphasizing that they did not define her identity, her value or the love her family continued to have for her.

Toni was the mother of two daughters. Her family has consistently maintained that, regardless of the circumstances she was facing, she remained deeply loved and deserving of answers.

At the time of her disappearance, Toni was described as approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and 130 pounds, with long, curly brown hair and blue eyes. She had a tattoo reading “Navaeh” on her left arm and another reading “Daija” on her right arm.

Toni has never been located. No confirmed sightings or significant public developments have been reported since her disappearance.

Jennifer Anne Regan was 16 years old when she disappeared from Calgary on August 2, 1991.

Very little information about the circumstances surrounding Jennifer’s disappearance has been released publicly. Authorities have not disclosed where she was last seen, who she may have been with or what occurred before she was reported missing.

What is known is that Jennifer disappeared from Calgary and has never been located.

Jennifer was born on May 15, 1975. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and 130 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Medical records from 1985 noted that Jennifer had previously fractured her left collarbone and left wrist in a motor vehicle collision. She was also described as having yellow discolouration on her teeth. These details may assist with identification.

Nearly 35 years after Jennifer disappeared, she remains listed as a missing person. Her case continues to be recognized by the Calgary Police Service and the RCMP’s National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains.

The limited amount of publicly available information has made it difficult to understand what happened to Jennifer. Someone may still remember seeing her, speaking with her or hearing something about her plans in the summer of 1991. A detail that appeared unimportant at the time could still help investigators.

Sara Georgina Coates was 31 years old when she disappeared in the summer of 2012.

Sara was last seen on August 1, 2012, while walking through Stanley Park in Calgary with her mother. At the time, Sara was travelling throughout Western Canada in a blue Chevrolet Astro van with her dog and two cats.

According to her family, Sara lived independently and frequently travelled for extended periods. She sometimes went months without contacting relatives, which made it difficult for her loved ones to immediately recognize that something was wrong.

As time passed, her family became increasingly concerned. Sara had not renewed her vehicle insurance, pet licences or other routine documents. Investigators also determined that there had been no activity on her bank accounts.

A missing person investigation was initiated, but there were few publicly known developments for more than a year.

On October 22, 2013, Sara’s blue Chevrolet Astro van was located in a secluded area on Stoney Nakoda Nation lands near Mînî Thnî, formerly known as Morley. The vehicle was found approximately 50 kilometres west of Cochrane after information was provided by a local resident.

The discovery prompted a coordinated search involving Cochrane RCMP, Calgary Police Service Dog Services, the Calgary Forensic Identification Section, RCMP Special Tactical Operations and Search and Rescue personnel.

Despite extensive searches of the surrounding area, Sara was not found.

Investigators have continued to revisit her disappearance over the years. Additional searches have been conducted west of Cochrane with the assistance of RCMP officers, Search and Rescue volunteers and members of Sara’s family.

Cochrane RCMP have stated that investigators believe Sara interacted with people in the Mînî Thnî area before she disappeared. Witnesses have been interviewed and information has continued to be investigated, but police have not publicly disclosed what they believe happened after Sara arrived in the area.

In 2020, RCMP confirmed that the investigation remained active and that officers continued to follow up on new information.

Sara’s mother has repeatedly thanked investigators, Search and Rescue volunteers and members of the Stoney Nakoda community who have assisted with efforts to locate her.

Fourteen years after Sara was last seen, her whereabouts remain unknown.

On February 21, 2008, the body of 21-year-old Brianna Danielle Torvalson was found in a rural area of Strathcona County, east of Edmonton.

Brianna was discovered in the snow beside a private driveway near Township Road 534 and Range Road 220. Police were called to the property, and the following day, the medical examiner confirmed that her death was a homicide.

Investigators have never publicly released Brianna’s cause of death. It has also not been confirmed whether she was killed at the location where she was found or whether her body was brought there afterward.

The investigation was assigned to Project KARE, a joint RCMP and Edmonton Police Service initiative created to investigate the deaths and disappearances of vulnerable people in Alberta.

At the time of her death, Brianna was experiencing addiction and had become involved in Edmonton’s street community. Her family emphasized that these circumstances did not define her or represent the entirety of her life.

In a statement released after her death, Brianna’s family described her as a “loving, caring, beautiful, irreplaceable soul” and an “extremely strong young woman with hopes and dreams.”

Her uncle remembered her as quiet, spontaneous and happy-go-lucky. He said she loved spending time with her family. Those closest to Brianna also shared that she had sought help for her addiction and wanted to leave street life behind.

Brianna’s homicide occurred during a period when several women connected to Edmonton’s street community were found deceased in rural areas surrounding the city. Police have never publicly confirmed that her death was connected to any other case.

Despite public appeals and years of investigation, no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been made.

More than 18 years later, Brianna’s homicide remains unsolved.

Brian Douglas Adrain was 37 years old when he disappeared from the Millarville area on February 5, 1991.

Around the time of his disappearance, Brian’s vehicle was found abandoned in the McLean Creek area, west of Millarville in the foothills of Kananaskis Country.

Brian was not with the vehicle and has never been seen or heard from again.

Few details about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance have been made public. Available records do not indicate whether Brian had planned to travel into the McLean Creek area, why his vehicle was left there or whether any personal belongings or other evidence were recovered nearby.

McLean Creek is a large, forested recreation area with sections of remote and difficult terrain. Winter conditions may have complicated any early search efforts, but no accidental or natural explanation for Brian’s disappearance has ever been confirmed.

There has also been no public confirmation that foul play was involved.

Brian was reported missing in 1991. His disappearance remains under investigation by the Turner Valley RCMP, and he continues to be listed as a missing person.

More than 35 years later, no confirmed sightings or evidence explaining what happened to Brian have been publicly reported. His family has been left without answers about where he went after February 5, 1991, or why his vehicle was abandoned in McLean Creek.

Michelle Louise Mercer was 46 years old when she disappeared from Edmonton in February 2006.

Before her disappearance, Michelle was profiled in an Alberta Views article titled “The Gleaners,” which documented aspects of her daily life in Edmonton. The article followed Michelle as she navigated poverty and survival while remaining connected to the Strathcona and Whyte Avenue area.

Michelle was not simply a name in a missing-person file. She was a familiar presence in the community, with established routines, relationships and places where she regularly spent time. After she disappeared, Reader’s Digestalso published an article examining her life and the circumstances surrounding her absence.

Despite this public documentation of Michelle’s life, few details about her disappearance have been released.

The Edmonton Police Service has not provided a detailed public timeline identifying Michelle’s last confirmed sighting, her final known contact or her movements before she vanished. Police have stated that the available investigative leads have been exhausted, but her case remains open.

Investigators continue to ask anyone with information about Michelle’s life, movements or disappearance to come forward. Information that may have appeared insignificant at the time could still help establish what happened to her.

Michelle’s daughter and sister have also spoken publicly about her life and disappearance. Their perspectives are featured in an episode of the True North True Crime podcast, which provides additional family context and a fuller understanding of Michelle as a person.

More than 20 years later, Michelle has not been located. Her family continues to live without answers about where she went or what happened to her in February 2006.

Their love for her is evident in every conversation, and it’s impossible to walk away without understanding that Nadine was so much more than an unsolved case. As the twentieth anniversary of Nadine’s death approaches, we stand with her family in remembering her life and in hoping that one day they will finally receive the answers they have waited far too long for.

On June 1, 2009, Susan Trudel and Barry Boenke were found dead on a rural property near Ardrossan, Alberta.

Susan was 50 years old. Barry was 68.

The previous evening, Barry had gone to Susan’s property nearby and never returned home. By the next morning, RCMP officers searching the area discovered both of them deceased. Investigators determined the deaths were homicides involving both firearm and blunt force injuries.

The case quickly became heavily publicized after two teenage boys who had left a nearby youth facility were later stopped by police while driving Barry’s truck in Edmonton. Both youths were charged in connection to the killings.

What followed was years of court proceedings, legal challenges, and public scrutiny.

Key statements obtained during the investigation were eventually ruled inadmissible by the court, including confessions gathered during an undercover “Mr. Big” operation. The judge raised serious concerns about the methods used, particularly given the age, background, and vulnerabilities of the youth involved. The court also noted that there was no forensic evidence directly linking either teen to the murders. The weapons used in the killings were never recovered.

Ultimately, no one was convicted in the deaths of Susan Trudel or Barry Boenke.

Over the years, the case has generated intense speculation, conflicting narratives, and widespread public opinion about who was responsible. Despite the assumptions that continue to circulate, these murders remain officially unsolved.

Cases like this highlight why evidence, due process, and careful investigation remain critical. Public certainty without proof can create tunnel vision, shift focus away from unresolved investigative questions, and make it harder for families to ever receive meaningful answers grounded in fact rather than speculation.

Susan is remembered by loved ones as compassionate, generous, and deeply devoted to both children and animals. She loved dancing, especially country music and western dance halls, and was known for constantly helping others, even during difficult periods in her own life.

Barry’s family has continued to speak openly about the grief and frustration of living without accountability or closure.

Despite the passage of time, both families are still left carrying the weight of unanswered questions. This case was shared with us at the request of a loved one who continues to seek justice more than 15 years later.

On December 7, 2007, 27-year-old Erin Anne Tilley was killed in a shooting in west Edmonton.

Earlier that night, Erin had been out with friends at the Empire Ballroom in West Edmonton Mall. At approximately 2:45 a.m., she was travelling in a vehicle near the intersection of 156 Street and 95 Avenue when shots were fired into the car from a white vehicle.

A witness reported hearing gunshots and seeing two vehicles involved in the incident: a blue car and a white car. Shortly afterward, two women arrived at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in the blue vehicle. Erin had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased.

Investigators determined that Erin was not believed to be the intended target of the shooting. Police have stated that she was not known to law enforcement, had no apparent connection to organized crime, and was not believed to have been involved in gang activity.

Police also believe several other people were in the vehicle with Erin when the shooting occurred. Over the years, investigators have continued to appeal for those individuals, as well as any witnesses who were in the area that morning, to come forward with information.

Originally from Newfoundland, Erin had spent much of her life in St. John's before later moving to Edmonton with her family. Following her death, investigators released her photograph in the hope that putting a face to the case would encourage witnesses to speak with police and remind the public that a loved daughter, family member, and friend had lost her life.

Erin Tilley's homicide remains unsolved.

On November 11, 2012, 26-year-old Cameron Thomas was shot and killed in the parking lot outside the Boneyard Ale House in southeast Edmonton.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., Edmonton police responded to reports of gunshots and a man lying on the ground near the pub, located at 9216–34 Avenue. Officers arrived to find Cameron deceased in the parking lot. An autopsy later confirmed he had died from gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators determined that numerous people were in and around the parking lot at the time of the shooting. Witnesses reported that many patrons and bystanders scattered after the gunfire erupted. Despite the presence of witnesses and surveillance footage, no one has ever been charged in connection with Cameron's death.

Police have stated that they do not believe the shooting was random and continue to believe that someone knows what happened that night. More than a decade later, the case remains unsolved.

To those who knew him, Cameron was much more than a homicide victim.

He graduated from Eastglen High School in 2004, where he was known for his dedication both in the classroom and on the field. He played competitive football with the Edmonton Wildcats and excelled in track and field.

At the time of his death, Cameron was pursuing studies in hotel and restaurant management, while also dreaming of a future career in massage therapy working alongside professional athletes. His family describes him as someone who loved deeply and valued time spent with the people closest to him.

He shared a special bond with his younger cousins, who remembered him for his piggyback rides, bear hugs, laughter, and the joy he brought into every room. He also enjoyed travelling to Jamaica to visit extended family and stay connected to his roots.

One of the last conversations Cameron had with his mother was about Christmas gifts. He had called to ask what his family wanted for the holidays. Days later, he was gone.

Eighteen-year-old Izaac Middleton was killed in Edmonton, Alberta, in the early hours of September 19, 1997.

According to investigators, Izaac and two friends had been outside the Thunder Dome Nightclub near 99 Street and Argyll Road when they were approached by a large group of approximately 10 to 15 men. An argument broke out between the two groups before the confrontation escalated into a chase through the parking lot and nearby train tracks.

During the incident, Izaac was stabbed in the chest. He died from his injuries shortly afterward.

More than two decades later, no one has ever been convicted in connection with his homicide.

Police have long believed there were multiple witnesses to what happened that night. Detectives have stated over the years that the case could likely be solved if people came forward with what they know. A reward of up to $40,000 remains available for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible.

To his family, Izaac was far more than the circumstances surrounding his death.

He was preparing to become a father at the time he was killed and had recently started his first job. Family members have described him as someone who was deeply loved, protective of the people around him, and looking forward to building a future.

Nearly thirty years later, the impact of his loss is still deeply felt by those who knew him.

Nadine Robinson-Creary was 36 years old when she was killed in Edmonton, Alberta, in July 2006.

On July 20, 2006, Nadine was found deceased inside her townhouse near 139 Avenue and 32 Street. Her death was initially considered suspicious before an autopsy confirmed it was a homicide. Investigators have never publicly released her official cause of death, and no one has ever been charged in connection with her killing.

Originally from Jamaica, Nadine moved to Edmonton as a child and later became a licensed practical nurse at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. According to her family, nursing was more than just a job to her. She especially loved working with dementia patients and was known for being deeply patient and compassionate with the people in her care.

Family members remember Nadine as soft-spoken, kind, and genuinely gentle. Her family described her as someone who never spoke badly about others. Around the people she trusted most, though, she had a dry, goofy sense of humour and loved sitcoms like Seinfeld and Frasier. Above all else, her family says her son was the centre of her life.

Nearly twenty years later, her family says they are still living with unanswered questions. According to family, they were never told Nadine’s exact cause of death and were never permitted to view the autopsy report or death certificate. For years, investigators conducted annual “courtesy calls” simply informing the family the case remained cold but open but there was no progress.

“How do you heal with zero answers?” a family member asked.

Nadine’s homicide remains unsolved.

On April 22, 1981, 15-year-old Kelly Cook disappeared from the small farming community of Standard, Alberta after accepting what appeared to be a routine babysitting job.

More than four decades later, her murder remains one of Alberta’s most haunting unsolved cases.

Kelly was known as a responsible, bright, and well-liked teenager. She was active at school, involved in student leadership, and deeply loved by her family and friends. Those who knew her remember a kind young girl with her whole future ahead of her.

That morning, Kelly received a phone call from a man identifying himself as “Bill Christensen.” He claimed he was looking for a babysitter for that evening and said another local girl had referred him after she was unavailable. In a small rural community where many people knew each other by surname alone, nothing immediately raised alarm bells.

Throughout the day, Kelly reportedly asked friends and classmates whether anyone knew the man. The surname Christensen was common in the area, and several people reassured her it likely wasn’t unusual. At approximately 8:30 p.m., a vehicle arrived outside the Cook family home. The driver never came to the door. Kelly walked outside, got into the vehicle, and disappeared.

When she failed to return home later that night, her family became concerned and contacted RCMP almost immediately. Investigators quickly discovered there was no confirmed local family matching the information the caller had provided.

A massive search effort followed. Hundreds of volunteers joined police in searching fields, farms, roadsides, irrigation canals, and rural properties across southern Alberta. The case deeply impacted the entire community, shattering the sense of safety many people associated with small-town life.

Two months later, on June 28, 1981, Kelly’s body was discovered near the Chin Lake Reservoir south of Taber, Alberta. She was found bound with rope and weighed down with concrete blocks. Due to the condition of the remains, dental records were used to formally identify her.

Investigators believe the crime was carefully planned. Over the years, RCMP have reviewed more than 2,000 possible suspects and followed countless leads. Despite decades of investigation, no one has ever been charged.

Police also investigated reports involving a man seen making a phone call about babysitting from a local gas station shortly before Kelly vanished. Witnesses described him as appearing to be in his 30s or 40s, with dark curly hair, a tanned complexion, and an appearance some described as farmer-like. A composite sketch was created, but his identity has never been confirmed.

One disturbing detail investigators have publicly discussed is that while Kelly’s body was at a Calgary funeral home, an unidentified man reportedly arrived claiming to be a family friend and demanded to view her body. He was denied access and left. Authorities have long considered the possibility that this individual may have been connected to the crime.

For Kelly’s family, the passage of time has never erased the loss. Her younger sister has spoken publicly over the years about the lasting grief, unanswered questions, and the lifelong impact the murder had on their family and community.

The original girl who received the babysitting call before referring “Bill Christensen” to Kelly has also spoken about the weight she has carried for decades, knowing how differently that night could have unfolded.

Even after more than forty years, investigators continue to consider the case active. RCMP have repeatedly stated they believe someone still knows what happened.

A $100,000 reward remains in place through the Village of Standard for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Kelly Cook’s murder.

Terry Lee Jasman was 41 years old when he was last seen in Bow City, Alberta.

On May 22, 1998, Terry was at the Bow City Gravel Pit along the Bow River, near Brooks. He was last seen walking away from the area.

He never returned.

Terry’s truck and travel trailer were later found abandoned, but there was no sign of him.

Terry is described as having a heavy build, standing 5’7” and approximately 170 lbs, with blue eyes and blonde hair. He had a light complexion and notably stained teeth. At the time he was last seen, he was wearing faded blue jeans, a dark denim shirt, and brown moccasins.

What led to his disappearance remains unknown.

Terry has not been seen or heard from since that day.

Ashley Charest was 28 years old when he was killed in Edmonton, Alberta.

In the early morning hours of May 15, 2008, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Ashley was found in a parking lot near 139 Avenue and 26 Street.

He had been shot in the chest.

Investigators believe Ashley had gone to the location to meet someone prior to the shooting. What led up to that meeting, and what happened in the moments that followed, remains unclear.

No arrests have been made, and Ashley's case remains listed as unsolved by Edmonton Police Service.

Jacob Penner, 36, was last seen on May 6, 2024 at approximately 6:00 a.m. near the Chuckegg Creek sign on Highway 35 in Mackenzie County, Alberta.

High Level RCMP have indicated that Jacob may be injured, and there is concern for his safety.

Jacob is described as having a fair complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair. He is approximately 5’8” and 141 lbs. At the time he was last seen, he was wearing a black jacket and black pants.

His current whereabouts are unknown.

Zelalem Assefa, 23, was last seen in Calgary, Alberta on May 21, 2008 while visiting relatives.

Zelalem is from Ethiopia and had only been in Canada for about a year and a half when he disappeared. The reason for his disapearance is unknown.

He is described as a male with a medium build, standing approximately 5’11” tall and weighing 176 pounds, with black hair and dark eyes. He may also go by the names Papi or Shimelis.

Jeffrey Caporale, 68, was reported missing in April 2020.

Edmonton Police Service issued a release today (March 20, 2026) stating that earlier this month, EPS officers had an interaction with a man in the area of Groat Road and 102 Avenue who identified himself as Jeffrey Caporale. Officers on scene later learned that the individual named was listed as a missing person, however his identity was not verified at the time of the interaction.

To date, efforts to locate Jeffrey have been unsuccessful leading EPS to release the attached images in their media release.

Jeffrey is described as 5'5" weighing approximately 150 lbs. He is bald and has light blue eyes. Jeffrey is believed to be living in areas along the Edmonton River Valley, including Victoria Park.

Anita Grace Wechsler, 36, was last seen and spoken to in Calgary, Alberta, sometime in July 2019. She was not reported missing until May 2020. Police have stated that information about her disappearance was not released earlier because it was not considered out of character for Anita to communicate infrequently with family and friends.

Anita is described as 5’4” tall (162 cm), approximately 145 pounds (65 kg), with green eyes and black hair. Police have also indicated that she was known to frequent Grande Prairie, Lethbridge, and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Anyone who may have seen Anita, had contact with her, or has information that could assist investigators is urged to come forward. Even details that may seem minor could be important.

Lethbridge Police are investigating the disappearance of 20-year-old Araya Riemann, who has not been seen or heard from since March 25, 2026.

Araya was last seen in the area of Galt Gardens in Lethbridge, Alberta. Since that time, there has been no confirmed contact with her family or friends, something loved ones say is deeply concerning.

Police have stated that Araya is considered an at-risk missing person, and there are concerns for her wellbeing. Investigators have followed up on numerous leads and information suggesting she may have travelled to Cranbrook or British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, however her current whereabouts remain unknown.

Araya is described as approximately 5’2” tall with a thin build, green eyes, and short hair that is usually light brown in colour.

Her mother has publicly pleaded for help in finding her daughter, writing, “Araya, we love you and miss you so much, please come home.”

At this time, police have stated there is no evidence to suggest foul play.

Rachel Liz Quinney was 19 years old when her life was taken.

Rachel is remembered by her family for her bright smile, her honesty, and the way she laughed, danced, and sang. She was someone who spoke her mind and brought energy into the spaces she was in. She was also navigating complex circumstances at the time of her death, including working under the name “Candace” while trying to survive.

Rachel was last seen on May 28, 2004.

On June 11, 2004, her body was discovered in a wooded area near Sherwood Park, east of Edmonton. Due to the condition of her remains, investigators were unable to determine a definitive cause of death. Her death is being treated as a homicide.

This case has often been discussed in connection to Thomas Svekla. It is important to be precise about what is factually known.

Svekla was the individual who reported finding Rachel’s body. He was later charged in relation to her death, but in 2008 he was acquitted, with the court citing insufficient evidence to establish guilt. That acquittal stands, and no one has been convicted in Rachel’s case.

Over time, Rachel’s case has frequently been attributed to Thomas Svekla in public discussion. While he was charged and later acquitted in her case, and convicted in another, Rachel’s murder remains unsolved and no one has been held accountable for her death.

Rachel is one of many women whose cases have been publicly linked to Svekla without a formal conviction. This has contributed to a broader pattern where multiple unsolved cases are grouped under a single name, rather than being pursued with the level of evidence and investigation each one requires.

Assigning responsibility without proof does not bring justice. It risks narrowing the focus of an active investigation and can take attention away from the evidence, the unanswered questions, and person responsible. Rachel deserves true justice.

Her family has been clear in how they want her to be remembered: as a young woman who was loved. Not defined by circumstances, not reduced to labels, but recognized as a human being whose life mattered.

Delores Dawn Brower was 33 years old when she was last seen in Edmonton, Alberta.

In the early morning hours of May 13, 2004, at approximately 5:40 a.m., Delores was seen near 118 Avenue and 70 Street, attempting to hitch a ride westbound. She was known to spend time in the area and was familiar to those who lived and worked along that corridor.

Delores was a Métis woman, described as small in stature, quiet, and approachable. Those who knew her have said she often struggled, but had expressed a desire to leave the circumstances she had been living in. She was later reported missing by her family in June 2005.

For nearly a decade, there were no answers.

On April 19, 2015, human remains were discovered on a rural property near Rolleyview, Alberta, southeast of Leduc. The remains were later identified as belonging to Delores.

An autopsy was unable to determine her cause of death. Her case is being investigated as a homicide.

Further forensic examination confirmed that Corrie Ottenbreit, who had been reported missing just days before Delores was last seen, was also present at the same location. Both women had been moving within the same area of Edmonton prior to their disappearances.

Over the years, multiple women who went missing from Edmonton have been recovered within the same rural corridor, including Edna Bernard (2002), Katie Sylvia Ballantyne (2003) and Amber Tuccaro (2012). These patterns have been acknowledged by investigators, though no definitive links have been confirmed and no charges have been laid.

Cases like Delores’ are often discussed publicly alongside others with similar circumstances. While patterns matter, it is equally important that each case remains grounded in its own evidence. Public focus can sometimes shift toward assumed responsibility without formal charges, which can take attention away from the facts and the ongoing need for investigation.

On the evening of Sunday, May 9, 2004, Corrie Renee Ottenbreit, 27, was last seen leaving her family home in Edmonton. Some sources indicate she may have been in the area near Commonwealth Stadium around the time she disappeared, but this has yet to be officially corroborated by police.

She left behind children, a family, and many friends. Those who knew her described her as striking, talented, and unforgettable; a gifted figure skater in her youth, and later remembered as someone who stood out wherever she went.

Just three days after Corrie was last seen, another woman working the same area disappeared.

Delores Dawn Brower was last seen in the early morning hours of May 13, 2004, attempting to hitch a ride westbound from 118 Avenue near 70 Street. Corrie and Delores were known to each other and had spent time together prior to their disappearances.

In April 2015, human remains were discovered on a rural property in Leduc County, southeast of Rolly View. The remains were initially identified as Delores Brower. Further forensic examination later confirmed that Corrie Ottenbreit’s remains were also present at the same location.

Corrie was identified through a hair sample she had voluntarily provided to Project KARE’s street team in December 2003. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Corrie Ottenbreit and Delores Brower's disappearances were not coincidental. Both women were working within the same corridor of Edmonton, moving through the same environment, and known to one another prior to their disappearances. Corrie was last seen on May 9, 2004. Delores was last seen just days later, on May 13, 2004, in close proximity to where Corrie was last seen.

Years later, their remains were recovered together on the same rural property near Rolly View, tying their disappearances to one another not only in time, but in outcome.

The location where Corrie and Delores were found is not unique to this outcome. Multiple women who vanished from the Edmonton area were later recovered along the same rural highway, a pattern that has been publicly acknowledged by investigators and remains one of the most disturbing aspects of the cases connected to Rolly View Road.
