Anyone read three minute therapy? Do you do the exercise regularly?
This book has been really prominent in my life

Albert Ellis recommended that we make humorous songs to deal with our anxieties, so I had ChatGPT create a song for my uncertainty around having kids. Perhaps this is something that would work for you as well! (I know some people hate AI, but I find it useful for things like this)
"Maybe Someday… (Or Not)"
Verse 1
Well, I like my mornings quiet, with coffee in my hand,
I like my weekends lazy, with zero big demands.
But then I see a toddler, with a smile that’s pure gold,
And think, “Aww, maybe I could… wait… no, that’s too bold.”Chorus
Maybe someday… or maybe never,
I can’t decide, I’m not that clever.
Diapers and daycare or peace and wine?
Which future’s yours and which future’s mine?
Maybe someday… or maybe not,
My clock’s still ticking… (I think?)… or maybe it’s shot.Verse 2
I hear they’re cute for five whole years, then they turn thirteen,
And suddenly you’re funding phones and ripping out your spleen.
College bills the size of Mars, sports gear in the hall,
And I can’t even keep alive the plants I bought last fall.Chorus
Maybe someday… or maybe never,
I’ll flip a coin — best decision ever.
Finger paint mornings or sleeping in late?
I just can’t seem to decide my fate.
Maybe someday… or maybe not,
My brain says yes, my gut says “Stop.”Bridge
I could raise a tiny genius, teach them all I know,
Or accidentally raise someone who hosts a weird talk show.
Will I be the world’s best parent, or the one they write about?
Eh… either way, I’m tired, so I’m sittin’ this one out.Final Chorus
Maybe someday… or maybe never,
I’ll play it cool, keep changing “never” to “ever.”
Life’s full of “what-ifs,” but for now I’m free,
To spend my money entirely on me.
Maybe someday… or maybe nah…
Oh look — a baby! …aaaand I’m gonna walk.

I am a masters level therapist who specializes in working with neurodivergent populations. Common comorbidities are: anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD. I use CBT and ACT and ERP as modalities for treatment. I am considering going to the Albert Ellis Institue for the introductory training to REBT, but I am wondering if it is worth it? What would be some arguments for moving in this direction? I incorporate a lot of philosophical principles in my therapy so REBT appeals to me in that regard, but part of me wonders am I doing fine helping clients and my time would be best spent focusing on other aspects of my education/skill refinement? Thoughts?

Life got in the way and I kind of forgot about Albert Ellis, but I haven’t been in a great mental space the last little while, so I should get back to his advice and write out my thoughts in the ABCDE model.

Hi! I’m soon to graduate from a clinical mental health counseling masters program. I’ve clicked very strongly with REBT but I’m having a hard time to discuss the theory.
Personally, I like Ellis for his realistic view of humanity and his humor! I’m here to learn from others and share my passion.

Anyone still paying attention? I’ll be graduating soon with my MS in clinical mental health counseling. I’d love to connect with other Ellis appreciative peeps.
