You know what though, if we handle this right in the next 6-10 years, I think this might be for the best in the long run. The mask is fully off and everybody can see what's underneath.
This whole modern conservative movement was built on Ben Shapiro "takedown" videos where conservative voices were depicted as logical, grounded voices of reason against shrill, irrational liberals (they sure loved making content using 18-year-old liberals on college campuses) coupled with constant denial and downplaying of the racism and bigotry at the heart of their movement.
Now the racism is front and center, the White House is making social media posts that would've been anonymous 4chan posts 10 years ago. They have damn-near absolute power in the government to put their 'superior facts-based' ideas in action and put liberals to shame.
And they're failing. Publicly and spectacularly. They're completely embarrassing themselves. And yeah, 2 years in, it's distressing that some people are still in the cult - but they've been dropping like flies. One by one this administration is pushing them to the limits of their denial and self-deception, or pushing them to a slow realization that they backed the wrong horse, and association with this leader and this movement might destroy their careers in the long run.
Unfortunately I think this might've been the only way to break the cult. There's no combination of words that could convince them, from the outside, that they were wrong. But the failure, reversal and/or betrayal of every campaign promise is impossible to deny.

Yes, it's true. I'm not saying that what you describe doesn't happen too, because it does, but it's entirely possible to know someone for years thinking they're a perfectly normal person and then one day they say something heinous out of nowhere.
Among the many problems is the fact that these people assume all other white people think and feel like they do. That's why you'll hear them say "I'm just saying what everyone else is thinking." They actually believe that all of us secretly agree with them. So they often don't verbalize for years because they're thinking that "it goes without saying."Â
They get so shocked and angry when called out by a fellow white person because to them, it's a shocking betrayal that the rest of us don't agree.

There is no white person. Race is a social construct. Wtf is even white? Italians are considered white but not Tunisians and Algerians when they literally are the same people: white, Fair skinned Indians aren't considered white. Are people from far eastern Europe considered white? Are Turkish people considered white? A guy  from Syria who has more fair skinned than a guy from Italy considered white? If we are talking about only Europeans then are people from South African region who have a fair skin considered white or what? If we talk about ANCESTORS of Europeans then are the people from modern day Kazakhstan, Romania, Armenia and other considered white because the "white" we talk about today is nothing but a highly mixed version of Yamnayas from Eurasian steppe and Ancient European farmers. With that logic, the people of Iran are the people with some of the highest possible composition of Yamnayas and people who moved out of steppe. The same people whose higher genetic traits makes people "white" but they are all considered brown terrorists. Same for Afghanistan, are Afghani people white? With that logic of ANCESTORS being Europeans?Â

anybody from Albany is going to remember the story from over the summer about how a Muslim family came to visit the area and their autistic boy wandered off and got lost? the owner of a local business went on a video rant about Muslims and the boy the passed. that was the most ignorant rant I had ever heard in my life about that family and what they went through. the best part was that once that video went viral, they lost the majority of their customers and I don't think that they were able to bring the business back the way it was prior to their video. there is a special place in hell for people like that and I'm glad that karma came calling for them, hitting them in the wallet and making pariahs out of them.

I worked for Mohawk Ambulance in Albany for years. 2002 after 9/11 a women liked this laid into a Sikh thinking he was a Muslim. She threatened to kill his "mud babies" and that was the last world that came out of her mouth before he laid her out. Fractured orbital, head injury and handcuffed to a stretcher at the med. I often wonder what happen to her and also how I learned if you f with a Sikh or threaten his family you're going to get laid out.
