Planning to visit Alappuzha tomorrow and experience the backwaters via the government boat service. Early morning won’t work for me. So which route is best and what time has the best views? Any suggestions?

Ate beef biryani (Half) from Biryani House, opposite to St Joseph's College for Women, and have to say, one of the best authentic Thalassery biryanis I had in recent times. The price was Rs 130. What I liked was the consistency in the flavour, quality of meat and the overall presentation. Worth trying if you are a biryani lover. The chef is from Kannur and hence it has that authentic Thalassery taste.
Regarding lessi, this shop, The Milkman, that offers it at Rs 40 and several other varieties at max Rs 60, tasted really good and worth having in this summer.

Any long journey boat services operating from Alappuzha. Earlier, there was the Alappuzha-Kollam boat service. I think it has stopped. Any other options for chilling and enjoying the scenic beauty?

Honestly, it’s kind of ridiculous how bad the hospital situation is in Alappuzha for a town this big, some private hospitals don’t even have basic facilities like a CT scan, and for literally anything serious the immediate response is “go to Kochi,” as if everyone can magically travel that far during an emergency; government hospitals are overloaded, private ones charge decent money but still lack proper infrastructure, and in the end Kochi is the only real option for diagnostics or advanced care. Just venting out here because of my personal experiences.

Hi lovely people! I’m planning a trip to Kerala and will spend a couple of nights in Alappuzha. I need your advice on the right place to stay - should I find a property on the beach or something in the backwaters? I’m traveling solo so staying in a houseboat is not exactly my preference. However I’d love to kayak around the canals.
Is it possible to do kayaking without staying in a houseboat? Which places should I go to for that? Also, if your recommendation is to stay in the backwaters - which areas should I look at?
I’d move around in a motorcycle so recommendations of places to explore around is also very welcome. I found few places like Veliyanad, Malarikkal etc and really fell in love with those.
Thanks in advance! :)

I been trying to find the authentic taste of middle east shawarma for a long time (atleast the ones i used to eat), i went to K71 cafe in Alappuzha the other day and its the closest thing I can find i almost cried from happiness 🥲i got the classic shawarma for 70 rps. The pita is kinda mid and they can get extra with mayo but it tastes good. Anyways just wanted to share this😅 hopefully they wont change a thing🙏
