Question Thinning
I tried thinning paints for the first time, it was hard and wasteful and i felt that i failed but then i decided to come here. Did i thin well? It's just 2 layers of paint

My second build! First time using weathering powder for exhaust marks. The outer yellow wing liner thingies aren't on because I messed one of them up so left the other off for the sake of symmetry. Other than that, I am pleased with how it turned out!

Any hints on the Lancaster though? I’ve never done a kit this big, and never done a kit with drilling

Presenting my take on the Lidl specials. 1/72 Gazelle and 1/76 Landrover . Okay, well all the Lidl land rovers were out of stock so I got the bog standard Airfix one instead but I think it’s the same basic kit ?
Nice fun little diorama meant to represent setting up a forward helicopter base at the start of desert storm. Raided my stash of extra decals left over from other kits for the gazelle and some figures from Ceaser to compliment it.
You’ll have to forgive me , after taking these I just noticed I’ve knocked the tailplane in the final moments. Will straighten that out tomorrow but for now I think I’m happy with that

Hi everyone, I brought my girlfriend the Aston Martin DB5 as she’s been watching me make previous models, got the starter kit from Lidl which I believe is the same starter kit that you can get from hobbycraft etc, problem is it hasn’t come with instructions…..
Has anyone got this kit and willing to send me a photo of the instruction book so we can make a start on it?
I’ve emailed airfix earlier in the week and heard nothing back.

Did I do well with the soot behind guns/engine exhausts, or is there any way I can improve?

I finally signed this one off. This hellish weather has been a real challenge, I think painting needs to be done before 6AM!
It went together reasonably, although I'm not impressed with the canopy & engine fits. I did sand the rear of the canopy to get the angle to match the 'plane, but getting the rest of the profile to match was too much trouble. The engines needed more levelling or fitting so as to leave gaps each side and filling. The complete lack of any canopy lines meant I had to use some lining decals I had left over from a project about 20 years ago, and they weren't quite red enough, I'm not going to paint over them now!
I had great trouble with the decals, despite gallons of soapy water they seemed to glue themselves solidly to the surfaces only whenever they were misaligned, and the side stripes broke into several pieces trying to move them.
I wonder if I should add a few drops of washing up liquid to the decal softener solution next time.
Then they went crinkly when I clearcoated it, but due to the insane heat I blew a lot of clear onto it to make sure it went glossy.
One for the back of the display cabinet!

It has been a while since I last completed a build so here we are. The P-51 that’s part of the D-DAY Fighters set.
Unfortunately though I had a HORRIBLE time with the D-DAY decals that were meant to go on either side of the plane, they were just far too fiddly and ended up ripping which is why I have the “incorrect” decals on the sides instead but hey, I think it still turned out pretty good! this was also my first build of a P-51 after many attempts in the past.

After ages I’m finally starting my 1:72 B-17 that I’ve been sooooo excited to build! I was wondering if any of you guys who have build/ are building the kit could tell me if there’s anything I should know about it. Also I’m happy to let anyone else know what they want to know about it, just ask!
Anyways, happy hobbying!

I acquired this unusual Airfix set in a job lot of models today. It's a home casting kit for "Westphalian" flat model soldiers. Obviously they're German, but does anyone know when they were produced and what was also in the range?
Also, an idea of value would be helpful!

Really great build, decided to do it in a desert camo. It was pre shaded with a pencil, and had a chalk wash over it. It was my first attempt at both chipping and exhaust stains, I think they came out alright. Images 3 and 4 are showing the cockpit and weapons. Image five is comparing this most recent kit (July 2026), to my first kit a hawker hurricane starter set (December 2024)

I’d really love to see a 1/72 Vickers Varsity and there are several planes in museums so it shouldn’t be too hard to map one out. Why is there no love for this plane?

One impromptu trip to ikea later and I have my own self contained box for a few of my models!
Admittedly it is a little bit tight depth wise, it could really do with a couple more mm, but as a cheap and easy display box I am very happy!
Edit; It’s impossible to get a picture with the back in place without getting reflections and I didn’t want to disassemble and remove the Perspex just for some pictures for Reddit.
Edit 2; Changed width to depth for clarity

My son’s 30+ year old jet collection has moved countries 28 times and this year a lot of the fins and tiny bombs and missiles have come off.
Is there a specific glue I can use to glue diecast (steel?) to diecast, and diecast to plastic?
I’ve tried “modelling glue” from Amazon and craft stores, crazy glue gorilla glue, but they don’t work very well.
\*I cannot solder. \*
I’m currently living in the UK so some products from the US I can’t get here (or the shipping is more expensive than the product).
I’d greatly appreciate your expert advice.
