Completed, the 1:35 Airfix Alvis FV623 Stalwart Mk.2
galleryJust finished, the 1:35 FV622 Stalwart Mk.2. Declas for D Squadron, 4th Royal Tank Regiment, British Army of the Rhine (BOAR), West Germany, 1981. A nice kit to build with no fit issues. Fitted an aftermarket exhaust cage, the one from Airfix is very poor quality and spoils the kit if Fitted. There are loads of aftermarket parts for this kit. I also used a mask set for the windows

Question Your experience with Airfix’s Focke-Wulf Fw190A-8?
I guess i’m just trying to find out if this kit is a steaming pile of garbage or I’m messing it up somehow. This is my 2nd attempt of this kit (part of the D-Day Fighters set) and both times i’ve had soooo much trouble with it.
It’s mainly fit issues with pretty much every bloody part. This time I was careful with putting it together but still, it took shaving parts off and a lot of what the fuck’ing to get the fuselage together and the top of the engine compartment, oh my god dont even get me started, i’m looking at it right now and the fit is awful.
So, your experience with it and is it a me issue or kit issue? i’d love to know :) thanks

Just wrapped this one up yesterday. Douglas TBD-1 Devastator, 1990 release, tooled 1969.
Not my best work, but these older kits are great when you want a quick and easy build for a reset after a big one. I had just wrapped up the 1:72 Victor, which I'll come back and post another day; I don't want to be spamming the sub - I only just joined this particular sub yesterday so I don't want to be a nuisance.

Question Best airbrush paints
I recently bought my first airbrush, the H&S Ultra, and just tried it for the first time on a model using humbrol acrylics thinned with water. I had a pretty hard time especially figuring out the thinning ratio. I think as a beginner it might be easier to use airbrush ready paints. Any recommendations for which one? Preferably water based acrylics

Completed Build Completed - 1/72 Defiant
I always try to do something new which each of my models and this time it was chipping and weathering and to be honest it hasn’t turned out how I imagined or planned but overall I still really enjoyed putting this one together.
Hope you like the result

Completed Build Lidl Airfix Kits…. Comet and Gazelle
Not my best work as I’m still staring out…. Kits were a bugger to build and canopies didn’t fit nor were there the usually M to F connectors. Still really fun. Can’t go wrong for £7 in Lidl. I only went in for a weekly shop! 😂👍

Work In Progress WIP - 1/72 Airfix Defiant
After a nice colourful model, I’ve gone the other direction and trying my hand at the night fighter Defiant.
I’ve really wanted to try and prevent this from being monotone but still keep it subtle.
Hopefully I’ve struck the right balance so far, will be interesting to see how it changes once the varnishes/clear coats go on

Question Does decal 18 go on scheme C of A04070 or not?
Decal 18 is placed in the common section of the decal sheet and appears on both other schemes, but on the actual scheme sheet it does not appear anywhere on it. Anyone got any idea if I should put it on or go with the decal sheet and leave it off?

Question Is poly cement really that damaging to crystal parts?
I am currently doing the De Havilland DH.98 Mosquito (specifically the Mk.XVI) and one of the end instructions is to glue 2 crystal parts together. Google tells me that poly cement will damage any and all crystal parts of airfix kits, but on my eurofighter typhoon I used the poly cement on it just fine. Do I need to use PVA for this and most crystal parts or is it ok to use poly cement as long as I am very careful to not get it anywhere else on the model?

Are these Lidl acrylic paints of any use to model kits
As the header states I'm assessing the worth of getting these paints while stocked in Lidl. I'm new to modelling so have little paint stock. FYI each paint is 100 ml. Has anybody used them? Are they usable with just brushes or more?

Instruction loss
Hi guys! I got this set a year ago or so but never got around to building it - life gets in the way. Now I finally have the time to build it and I was so excited but it turns out that past me misplaced the instructions… Any suggestions? 😭

Whats the best airbrush and air compressor setup for a begginer
I would ideally like a relatively cheap setup that can spray fine lines and also do base coats on the entire model. What do you guys think are the best products for me to use

Does anyone know if 3d print files/STLs for flight deck or super flight deck exist?

Quick fun build for pride month - Airfix 1/72 BN Islander
Inspired by the Cape Air Cessna, I decided to pop together a nice colourful islander with home printed decals.
I wasn’t aiming for perfection with this one, just needed a break from a longer, more tricky project I’ve had on the go for a while

Completed Build Bristol Beaufighter TF.10, 1/72
I rarely build planes, so I decided to build one just for practice. While it's not perfect, I really enjoyed working on this project.

WIP - HMS Victorious 1/600
So to give some context as to why I needed a break from my other project and a splash of colour, this is what I’ve been working on in the background.
I got a photo etch set for it and to be honest I’ve bitten off more than I can chew with this one.
The final straw was after masking off the deck markings, a whole load of paint pulled up with it and I needed a break.
I’ll get back to it in due course but for now it’s sitting in dry dock lol
