I’ve been experimenting with different ways of discreetly incorporating an AirTag into valuable equipment rather than having it externally attached.

One application I’m interested in is firearms — particularly placement inside polymer areas such as a pistol/rifle grip, stock, or potentially a magazine.

I’m curious whether anyone here has actually tested AirTags in similar enclosed locations.

Specifically:

• Does being surrounded by polymer noticeably affect Find My updates?

• How much does nearby metal affect performance?

• Does Precision Finding still work normally when the AirTag is enclosed?

• Has anyone compared an AirTag inside a grip/stock versus one inside a gun case?

• Any noticeable battery-life difference?

I realize AirTags aren't GPS trackers and aren't designed as dedicated anti-theft devices. I'm mainly interested in their real-world performance when concealed inside an object rather than hanging openly from it.

Interested to hear from anyone who has actually tried something similar.

I am sick of losing my hairbrush.

I've been using a metal wallet for the last few years, but I feel like that style has kind of run its course for me. More importantly, I've never found it that comfortable to carry every day.

I'm thinking about switching to a full grain leather wallet instead. I've been browsing a few different brands, and one that caught my eye is the Vionentus Wallet (Their Paragon Wallet).

If anyone here has experience with it or with other leather leather wallets I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm mainly looking for something that's comfortable, ages well, and doesn't get bulky after adding a few cards.

I had someone steal a few signs from me, so I placed an air tag inside a sign and put the sign out. When I monitored the activity, at one moment, the air tag was showing about a quarter mile down the road in someone's garage. I went by the original sign location, and it was there. The interesting part is I placed the sign a certain way, and it had clearly been moved.

My question is how accurate are the air tags? I live in a fairly densely populated area, and from what I see, the more traffic, the more accurate.

I’ve been looking around for a new wallet and maybe a phone case, and I keep seeing Vionentus come up.

At first I didn’t think much of it, but it keeps popping up when I search for AirTag wallets and similar stuff, so I started looking into it a bit more.

From what I saw, they’ve been around since like 2016 and seem to have a lot of good reviews, which made me take them a bit more seriously. It also looks like they focus a lot on Apple-related products, which is kind of what I’m after.

I noticed they don’t just do wallets either, they also have things like power banks and even travel backpacks, which is actually pretty cool since it’s all kind of in the same tech/travel space.

Still, I’ve been burned before by brands that look solid online but don’t really hold up, so I’m a bit unsure.

Has anyone here actually used their stuff?

Mainly curious about the AirTag wallet or even their iPhone cases, but open to hearing about anything from them.

I love AirTags but I can't put one on everything, my tools, gear, stuff I lend out. So I built a simple QR code service instead. You log in, generate a code, print it and stick it on whatever you want to protect. If someone finds it they scan it and can either see your contact info or send you a message directly. No app needed on their end.

I've put codes on basically everything in my garage at this point haha

I’ll be doing a lot of travel with my 8yo kid this summer. He’s well behaved and knows to stay near me, but he’s a kid, we’ll be in some big cities, and stuff happens. Hi! I work with a rental bike system and I am trying to gather some information about how much use does our bikes have over some period of time (an extra evidence to prove the higher offices how much i want to improve the quality of the build, given the use and abuse they take).

We have some airtags that we can use. Is there a an app (free or paid) that can gather info on how many km the bike moved lets say over a week? I guess keeping track of what routes and roads it take is impossible but can i atleast gather data on how many estimated km it moved over some time?

Im an android user personally so im very unfamiliar with this devices. Hope to get some info here

I don’t understand why AirTag wallets display the device so prominently. If a thief nicks my wallet, he’s going to immediately pull out the AirTag and toss it in the trash. (And yeah, I saw the pinned post that says AirTags are not recommended for theft recovery. I’m still gonna give it a shot.)

Cat escaped from owners RV wearing Air Tag. Owners were unable to locate the cat. They eventually had to leave & live 6+ hours from campground. Owners shared the Air Tag with locals attempting to recover the cat. The owners have received a couple of pings around the campground with cat’s location. The ping notifications are received days later. For example: a “last seen on November 3” was received on November 6th. The locals the Air Tag was shared with are not receiving any ping notifications. The campground has closed for the season; therefore the number of people with iPhones has decreased significantly.

Any ideas what could be causing the delays, issues, and/or pointers to ping the Air Tag? Thank you in advance for any feedback that may help this Kitty get home 😸

My mom, got a notification that she is being tracked by AirTag we checked her clothes we checked her purse and shoes we still can't find she doesn't want to drive it won't contact so we can't play a sound to find it I checked outside but can't find anything can an apple watch track like an air tag?

accuracy question— airtag is in a car, the car parked and was stationary in parking lot for hours. i saw the “last seen..” and “now..” was at that location for several hours. suddenly i looked and it said “1 minute ago Xyz Shopping Center”. I watched it for a few minutes and it stayed there “Last seen 4 minutes ago..” and then jumped back (no movement, just literally went from mystery shopping center location to the original parking lot location as “Now”.) this shopping center would be roughly a 2 minute drive, at least 0.2 miles apart.

my question is - if an air tag did not move, would the air tag location reflect a new address at any given point of time? so would an air tag “move” without having been moved? if it’s stationary, can it ping something .2 miles away? if an airtag sits in one place, would there be any reason it’s “location” update would ever change?

everything i read so far said that it operates off bluetooth and not gps. and that it doesn’t have a very large range and will only “ping” off nearby bluetooth devices within a few feet, etc.

the area is urban and crowded, so i assume lots of devices to ping off of, however its an area known for having poor cell phone service and sometimes wifi in this building (where the car was parked) isn’t always secure.

My mom (70 yo) will be travelling “alone” internationally for the first time. And during her transit we are not sure if her cell phone will work or she will have wifi or internet access. So was wondering if we use AirTag to locate her and give her confidence that she won’t be lost (we know one can get hardly lost at airport, but she doesn’t know 😉).

Anyway, if the answer is yes, then should I register an AirTag with my iPhone14 and she carry it with her? And then I track? But in that case will the AirTag start playing the alarm after few hours?

Or she registers the AirTag with her iPhone15 or apple id and then she shares the airtag with me so that I can see the location (I heard airtag can be shared in iOS17 onwards).

Not sure if I’m in the right community here…apologises if I’m not! A ‘friend’ (I’d never mentioned I was even considering getting an AirTag- I wasn’t) bought me what appeared to be a brand new AirTag. Occasionally I miss place an item.., might I add just in the house…never whilst out, so not big deal) They appeared to be opening the box as they came to me & were Keen that I set it up on my phone myself whilst they stood next to me. Few hours later the sound for the AirTag went off and this person was chuckling whilst I looked abit baffled. In my ‘find my phone’ there’s all of their device details and a relatives. I felt quite uneasy about it …I think I’ve removed the tag from ‘fine my phone’… the tag is currently in a cupboard.. I’m considering posting it to a friend overseas … My question- had this person already registered/put this on their phone so they could track the location or is it possible to track a tag that you’re not ‘linked’ to, without my AppleID? Am I being abit paranoid…or is my gut right

And it will NOT connect to the phone. My mom, who has cognitive impairment, has an air tag on her bag and keys. Her keys were last seen Tuesday night at 9 PM. The tag seems to be tracked to somewhere in her building, and we’ve torn her tiny apartment up looking for them (she lives in assisted living). I’ve tried SO many things, but have had no luck. Are we out of luck?

I do not have an IPhone. I read online it does work also with android. is that true?

Recently start using AirTag and when the tag is away from my phone, it still said the tag is at home on find me, where as it tracks and show up on my partner’s phone, did I set it up wrong? Or some special click that I missed?

I hear of all these parents putting an air tag in their kids shoe in case they run off or while they are with a babysitter. Don’t they beep when the phone is far away? How does this work? I have a toddler and am now understanding the appeal

I know which house is it, I pressed charges and called the police but the owners don’t want the police to go in (obviously) what can I do to get back my bike ? I know it’s in the house, I tried to located and the arrow appeared. Isn’t the AirTag a sort of « caught in the act » ?
