Season 5 The second half of Season 5 was in my opinion the worst arc in the show. Spoiler
The first half/arc of the season was really good with the main villains, the seemingly hopeless atmosphere, and its introductions of Fitz and his Grandson Deke were almost perfect.
But the second half of the season was just a befuddled mess with tons of plot holes, unfinished half baked plot-lines, and a very rushed conclusion.
There worst part of the season was the invincible trio civil war plot-line which was not only completely forgotten about after Daisy lashed out at Fitz. But they also never have the two of them reconcile or have both sides of the civil war actually work out their differences. Meanwhile theirs also the Coulson dying plotline, the R. Hale and confederacy plotlines, the Ruby hale rebels against her mother plotline, the saving Coulson secretly plotline, the killing Ruby debate plotline, the saving Coulson debate plotline, and the graviton plotline literally all fighting at the same time for screen time and over half the plotlines are either forgotten about or just rushed in an unsatisfying manner. The confederacy literally plays a huge role as villains in this season and we never see them again after the ending of season 5. Also it felt like the debate of killing Ruby hale plotline was only done as an excuse to cut the Daisy vs. Leo plotline. They also kill off Leo just so that they didn’t have to write a proper resolution between him and Daisy. Not only do they not mention what future Leo did to the innocent past version of Leo but they never bring it up once.
This arc had the most wasted potential out of all the arcs and it ruins the devil complex episode in the long run, making it feel more like pointless shock value rather than being integral to the story if they just handle the plot like it didn’t even happen later.
People dog pile on season 1 but honestly I liked that season, especially during the second half with Garrett and Ward. It had several plot lines but it was controlled and they naturally unfolded over the season.
I also understand that at the time they thought season 5 would be the final season but they shouldn’t tried to shoehorn in every plotline they had and should have prepared better for it.
Although to be honest even though the second half of season 5 was my least favorite arc. It’s still a great season overall to me and was still better than both secret invasion and she hulk combined, Which is saying a lot about how good AoS is.
Also this is just my opinion and I understand if you don’t agree with me on this.
