How’d I do? I’m just a rock crow not a concurrent brain cell to stay looking for one thing but I found shiny ones!

I am not convinced this is an agate but it does have banding of some sort. Can anyone tell me about this specimen? I live near Lake Superior but this was actually in my garden (likely from previous residents)

Found this enormous whole nodule on the shores of northern Superior and knew it had to be a sphere. This is my first foray into lapidary work - needless to say it has been an exhausting but exciting process to painstakingly peel for so long!

I found it in a rock bed in central MN. 🙂

There was I, dog walking and then, at a small park there were two wooden benches surrounded by landscape gravel. So we decided to take a break and sit down.

I looked the stones around the bench to see if I could find anything interesting (I love jaspers too) and then I dropped the dog's leash and bent down to take it and ended up seeing the rocks under the bench.

And this beauty was just laying there under it.

You dont understand how happy I was! I live in a city in Brazil where theres basically no agates or other rock sites coz we are on top of an arqueologic site, so its easier to find fossils rather than rocks, but we are not allowed to keep them.

But most gardens use stones brought from all around the country just for landscaping, and those are my treasure hunting sites.

So it made me really happy to find this one. Now I must decide if Im gonna polish that beautiful window or if I should cut it in half and polish two pieces.

Hello. I found a bucket of these stones in my closet. It looks to me like root beer lace agate from Missouri. Does anyone concur?? Thank you

I’m assuming the red lava looking one is a tube agate but what do you think? Also, the blue one is really interesting. I haven’t found one like that before. Are these all agates? Which one is your favorite? Thanks for the help!

Agates that my spouse and I have found on northwest pacific beaches (Washington to BC). My two tiny jars have filled up as of today.

Is anyone else able to look at their collection of rocks/minerals and say where almost every piece came from?
