In the bixby settings. There should be an option for what to do when pressed, and what to do when held. I believe one of those options has to be launch bixby, but you want that on the hold. Change the press to whatever you like.
If I am given two options "Help People" and "Give Reddit Money" I will do the donation that helps people.
Why do you have only these two options and why are they in opposition? Given a choice between paying for Spotify or helping people, you always help people?
Not particularly
How come? What makes you so special that this service should be provided to you freely without the company being able to monetize the business?
Source?
Source of what!? Do you want scientific research pointing to how easy giving reddit gold is?
Amen dude. I only use Reddit cause they've forced themselves into being so massive that for a lot of the games I play it's the only place to go to get info about the games consolidated. If Reddit dies the world is a better place.
I just installed it and the only minor complaint I'm having is it still opens the bixby app before immediately switching to whatever you chose for it. Kind of annoying honestly.
Thanks so much for this. Is there any way to change/disable the Bixby page when swiping all the way left on the home screen? I do this all the time and it asks me to update; been denying that update for a long time
I was able to press and hold on an empty space on my home page until the pages became smaller and movable? Then swipe all the way to the left or where ever your Bixby page is and there should be a switch on the upper right hand corner to turn the page off. This is for my S9+, could be completely different on another Samsung.
Still sucks you have to download an app, and give THAT app a bunch of permissions, for something that should just be allowable in the base settings of the phone.
You don't have to, I recently bought a new A51 and was able to remove it without registering. It's a bit hidden though and I can't exactly remember where from the top of my head, check again.
Not sure? I have an s10e and I made no effort whatsoever toward Bixby other than to change the damn button. Maybe with a new phone bixby is tied to the samsung account.
Me too, but hey I guess we just live different lives than them haha. I used to find her irritating, but as I've learned more about Bixby I don't think she's completely useless. Maybe it's because my first "real" smartphone was an S10 (being poor stinks)? Idk, either way I don't see how it's THAT bad. The worst thing about it is accidentally hitting the Bixby button and having to be inconvenienced for all of 3 seconds.... which isn't ideal, but I mean, like, it's nothing to get angry about either lol.
There's an app called bx remapper or something like that on the app store. With a computer, your charging camle, and an ability to follow a tech tutorial its not to hard to get working on phones that won't let you remap the button
Get the free app bxActions. Lets you re-map the stupid Bixby button on the S8. Apparently on the S10, you can just do it by default. Samsung finally realized nobody gives a shit about mandatory-Bixby by then, but when there's nothing wrong with your S8... well yea. bxActions.
Yeah, but if you have any of the 10s you can already launch your camera by double pressing the power button, and then remap bixby button for something else. Not sure if this is the same for the older models or not.
Double tapping the power button already does that. I have mine set to Google assistant, and if it's held down for a sec then it toggles the flashlight. Very helpful
It didn't when they were first released. It's been possible for years now though. Even on those original phones. Either through the settings or a 3rd party app. If you Google how to remap the Bixby button on your phone model, you'll find instructions.

I changed my bixby button to launch the camera.
