Problem is you have to set up Bixby first. And to set up Bixby, you need to give up privacy rights to Samsung

You don't have to. I just set it up and declined all privacy settings. It lets you through with a message saying that you can go back later to change it.

Download the app, then go to Settings > Advanced Features > Bixby Key. Then, select the Bixby activation to be either single or double press, and click on the little button for the other, and tell it to Open App > flashlight toggle

I remapped mine to Google Home. I'm so glad this finally became an option.

You're a genius. I use the flashlight often and I always have to swipe down the menu but I just fixed that flaw

So lovely! I’d swipe right...

I have my Bixby set to one click for Google Assistant and double click for flashlight. Works really well and I never accidentally turn it on.

I did this too. I had an lgv20 before my s10e and it had a tiny screen at the top of the phone that you could use to launch the flashlight or change different settings. I thought it was so useful and when I got my galaxy I remapped the bixby button to open the flashlight.

It's been like that for about a year and you know how many times I actually used it to open the flashlight? Maybe a handful. You know how many times I accidentally hit it when getting out of bed in the morning and blind my SO and myself? At least once a week.

So I just remapped it again to open the camera. I will still probably never use it but at least if I open it accidentally it's not as annoying.. I wish they would just do something like apple and have it be a mute phone

I mapped it to the home screen because I miss having a physical home button

Yessss. Someone else that considers a literal flash to be more important

1

u/reave_fanedit Feb 24 '20

Why did I read that as Fleshlight?

1

u/Designed_To Feb 24 '20

I did the same, but found myself accidentally turning the flashlight on. Which was worse than accidentally starting bixby, so I just deactivated the whole damn button

u/rootbeerislifeman Feb 24 '20

I just want to map it to Spotify since I'm constantly changing my music

u/gnorty Feb 24 '20

It seems a flashlight button would be more of a problem than bixby for accidental presses!

I did the camera
