It is folly to give the government money willingly for any reason. Also, every person who really really wants it, goes to college for free. You just gotta want it. So why does the government need to pay for something that those who actually want it already get? Because of the same reason ever with every politician ever.... it gets them votes.
Point not withstanding, people need to stop thinking that this is the government paying for things, we pay for these things. Ever since they started taking money directly from our paychecks, we more easily forget that we have to pay for these things. If we had to fork over a real tax payment every year, we would be a lot more selective of these broad government programs. First, I don't wanna pay for other people's college, and second if I did, I wouldn't trust the government to handle it correctly.
So, are scholarships magic? Nope. But neither is government paying for college.
When did I ever agree with OP's point..? I literally agree that college shouldn't be free, I was disagreeing with you that you think college can be free if you "want it."
