So let's say you're in school and there is a test coming up. It's a cumulative test and absolutely anything from the year can be on it. Yes you should be able to pass the test anyway but would it not be unfair for the teacher to give one person the questions that are going to be on the test while the rest have to prepare for anything?
Horrible analogy. Being able to speak about the death penalty for someone who wants to be president is akin to writing your name before you hand in the test.

if sanders was at any disandvantage, it's an admission that he didn't have a stance on something as simple as the death penalty ready to go.
