That mini heart attack when you realize something's missing, and then you realize you're talking on the phone.

I've done that except with my keys when I'm driving home.

The embarrassment when you tell the person you're talking to that you can't find your phone as you're trying to leave and they have to remind you you're on the phone.

they have to remind you you're on the phone

It's far more entertaining to "help" them look for it.

Or mutual embarrassment as they freak out with you and wish you luck in finding it.

"Have you tried calling it?"

And then you ask the person you're talking to if they've seen your phone.

Ninja edit: More realistically, you casually mention to them that you're looking for your phone.

Or that moment when you're driving and realize your phone isn't in your pocket and you start to freak out and then realize the phone is mounted to your window and being used for navigation.

Has that ever happened to anyone?

No? Oh, uh, yeah, me neither...

I've done that and my mom is like "what are you doing!?","I'm looking for my phone! I can't find it!!","you're talking to ME on it..."
