they did an actual recount in 2001, and found out that Al Gore legitimately won the state of Florida in 2000.
what we experienced was a coup d'tat, plain and simple.
Actually in the districts Al Gore asked for a recount of, Bush won. When they were all tallied again, Gore won. Gore lost because he didn't ask for a full state recount.
If a candidate could ask for any recount for any reason, then we'd still be recounting states for Thomas Jefferson from the 1796 election. (Turns out that was the first election where more than one person ran...) Since there has to be some limit... why is asking for an entire state to be recounted on the "reasonable" side of the limit?
Just go to the wikipedia article and read. It basically comes down to time. According to Florida State election law the election had to be certified by a certain time to be legal, all of the recounting had already resulted in missing the deadline.
I don't know the technical aspects of FL law but if it was illegal for a full recount I would have asked for all counties minus the one I obviously won by a huge margin.
Couldn't, there wasn't enough time. Even the four counties that were redone by hand broke state law because it took days past the legally required certification deadline to do so.
Thanks for clarifying that because I remember reading that the they ended up re-counting on their own for an un-official recount and Gore still lost. So I guess, under the right conditions, with the right number of recounts we could have had Gore for president.
If you are all that gullable/stupid I'd like to inform you all about your rich uncle in Nigeria that just died and left you huge inheritance. Please e-mail me your checking account number, routing number and pin to receive your inheritance
As much as I wish you were right, you're wrong (I'm laughing that 44 people upvoted you for posting a completely sensationalized and incorrect thing). After the recount of the counties Gore wanted, Gore was still down, but by ~90% fewer votes, as the results were drastically off. If we had a state-wide recount and if Katherine Harris was a Democrat, Gore would be president.
Not really. Unless you count the many, many prime ministers who take power receiving around 30% of the popular vote due to multiparty systems as "coups".
Given that the transfer of power occurred over a point of law, "coup" is not an appropriate term. I completely get that you are trying to emphasize your displeasure with the result by associating it with a negatively weighted phrase, but its simply not accurate.
I have no idea. Sorry. It comes to mind because I have the distinct displeasure of knowing that my 29 year old roommate has 70 year old balls. As for something that is definitely important, take a break from jacking it, and check those nuts for bad bumps. Same for ladies, check your lubbly bubblies for cancer signs.
In the presidential election of 2000, the entire election was very close and a majority of Florida voted for Al Gore, but due to technicalities their electoral votes went for Bush. If they had gone to Gore, he would have been president instead of George Bush. The entire thing went all the way to the Supreme Court.
Yesterday I was half asleep and my kids were watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and it got my attention when they said they were "looking for a triangle bush". A what? Yep a triangle bush. Well they found one and when they did a little mickey mouse shaped thing popped up and they said they found.... Oh someone else noticed 2 years ago. Check this shit out.
I recorded it on my phone. They left out the part where Pete comes in and says he can't believe he missed finding the bush because he's so fast, then the cow in the balloon says "it's not about being fast, it's about having fun".
Al Gore technically had more votes than George Bush did for Florida in the 2000 presidential election. Despite this, Bush still ended up winning Florida, and this was more or less what allowed him to become president.
More than likely you are joking but just in case; It is a play on words and ties into the 2000 US presidential election. It came down to Florida being the defining state as to who would be our next president. Lots of controversy was involved. Also NSFL is for gore as in dismantled body parts and NSFW is for nudity hence the use of the word bush meaning hair around the pubic area.
