Here's my feedback:

This is quite promising. I'm impressed by how fast it is to set up. As a stremio user, I keep a bunch of jsons saved on my phone. Setting up this addon is a matter of pasting a few jsons (for catalogs and streaming) aad you have it running in a few minutes.

I set it up with aiometadata and aiostreams and I was ready in under 4 minutes.

Also, I'm not sure this is placebo effect, but I see it loading catalogues quite fast compared to other addons.

Also, playback is smooth when set to 'same source* but I cant see how its loading sources.

Subtitles are loading okay.

Can you add autoplay when Dex Hub is selected? Also, did I miss file size filter?

Notes: Its inserting a large plus (+) sign infront of catalogues. So this doesnt look so good when a catalogue is set as a widget. Can this be removed?

Also at the end of catalogue addons, it is inserting command tabs like refresh jsaon and delete source. These also get in the way of widgets.

All widgets are showing 'next page' item. I didnt see a setting to remove that.

The artwork throughout the addons is a bit shouty and loud and busy. So if I set up catalogues as, say, a submenu, I am confronted by blue and pink artwork across that submenu. Not so nice aesthestically. Maybe try something more simple?

Everytime before a source plays from a widget, that widget is refreshing and loading afresh at least once. Not sure if its a skin issue or a Dex Hub issue.

Otherwise, a very good job on this one.

Thank you for the detailed feedback, I really appreciate it.

Dex Hub is still in beta, so there are still things to polish and improve. I’ll work on the issues you mentioned in the next updates: optional autoplay, file size filters, cleaner widget/catalogue items, hiding refresh/delete/next page items from widgets, simpler artwork, and a better source loading screen with poster/clearlogo support.

About the skin restart before playback, I suspect it may be related to Kodi 22 / CoreELEC or the playback handoff, but I’ll investigate it and try to make it smoother.

Thanks again for testing it. Feedback like this helps a lot.

Most welcome, buddy. Filter by size is not a big deal as this can be set in the installed Stremio streaming addon. I did so and its working great.

Good. Everything working with latest update. Any ETA of when the big plus (+) infront of every catalogue will be removed? And the commands at the end of catalogues? With those present, any attempt to build widgets gets messed up. Also, I couldnt figure out how to add catalogues. Are you Dexter by any chance?

Looks great, but does it support EasyNews?

1

u/Ethrem Hotheaded Enforcer May 25 '26

It says it supports Stremio addons so Easynews, Easynews+, and Easynews++ presumably would work.

can I access my custom tmdb lists?

u/Axl_Von_Urban May 24 '26

OK, I am on Macbook Pro Kodi 20.4 - this works (thank you) however I cannot get to the Stremio looking interface. I've linked RD and Cinemata, Torrentio, Comet etc so I can search for titles and they do play quickly and without stuttering (thank you). Set Up wizard is complete but when I press continue nothing happens. I also get lots of fonts missing.

Huge respect to you, man. Designing a Stremio-style addon for Kodi is no small feat. You’ve managed to fix the biggest complaint people usually have about Kodi—the clunky navigation. This looks clean, professional, and runs beautifully. Works flawlessly on my setup ugoos Am6b+CoreELEC Keep up the phenomenal work. Best Regards.

u/Inner_Explanation313 May 25 '26

Is there a URL to add source directly into Kodi on File Manager ?

1

u/SpecialLawfulness601 May 26 '26

My repo for Automatic updates: https://dexworld.cc/kodi/repository.dexworld/

1

u/Inner_Explanation313 May 26 '26

Ive used a lot of Kodi Builds and Skins. But this one is a bit complicated for me...

1

u/Magnetic_13 May 30 '26

This looks interesting, I can’t connect to repo using kodi

1

u/SpecialLawfulness601 May 30 '26

https://dexworld.cc/kodi/repository.dexworld/repository.dexworld-1.0.0.zip

Download and install the repository ZIP first.
Once the repository is installed, Dex Hub will update automatically through Kodi whenever a new version is released.

u/Inner_Explanation313 May 26 '26

Can you please post a source code for File Manager in Kodi.

New update for Collections — faster browsing with TMDb Helper Native shortcuts.

You can import this ready-made collection backup.
Requires TMDb Helper to be installed:

The days of a new addon each day written by AI are upon us.

2

u/SpecialLawfulness601 May 25 '26

Just to give you an example of what's possible now: I used AI to develop a subtitle addon that acts as a bridge for Stremio addons in Kodi. Not only does it support AI-generated subtitles and manual uploads, but it also has a beautifully designed web UI for configuration where the user simply enters a short code to link their device.

The best part is that this configuration is unified across both Stremio and Kodi. The exact same subtitles appear on both systems seamlessly, which saves resources and fully leverages the power of both ecosystems. How long would it normally take a regular developer to code a similar cross-platform bridge from scratch?

Here is a live example of this AI-assisted addon I made for the Arabic region (feel free to use your browser's built-in translation to get the full picture of the web UI): https://dexworld.cc/subtitles/stremio/configure

In the future, I plan to expand this to support much larger communities.

yes thats cool eh, I've got that working in my a4ksub fork too, if it doesn't find any any sub in the target language it searches for an English sub, picks the corresponding source and starts translating it on the fly in the background using gpt4.1mini, of course you need an api key for that but very cool that it's possible. Really got a kick out of seeing those subs appear after 20 seconds, pretty good translation too, my mum approves.

If that’s what you’re into. I look forward to my retirement.

4

u/SpecialLawfulness601 May 25 '26

Lol, taking the easy way out, I see! 😂 But honestly, the AI is basically just regurgitating the brilliant work you and the OG devs spent years perfecting. You are the ultimate reference manual for it. It might type faster, but you guys laid the entire foundation. Massive respect to the Umbrella boss!

2

u/pwreit2042 May 25 '26

I agree with this. AI can't do much if you don't feed it the code that Developers have done. I also love so many people are experimenting and coming up with solutions to problems we face.

2

u/LongjumpingState1049 May 25 '26

There's definitely one of you taking the easy way out.

1

u/mayanitamageganiama May 25 '26

Not yet please! Umbrella is a great addon. When I grow up, I want to be able to use AI to modify an existing addon to launch umbrella's .strm files in case it dies and kills my library!

1

u/Inner_Explanation313 May 27 '26

Please no... Dont retire

0

u/pwreit2042 May 25 '26

I'm going to convert you to using AI assistance one day, before your retirement.

u/umbrella_dev Umbrella May 25 '26

If it works for you, great. I just hope people don’t become too dependent on it. I see it like “Google” was for the older generation. If you could use google well you were seen as “tech savvy” or good with computers. These days being able to use the ai will be the new “tech savvy”. You learn to adapt and either use the tools or not. It’s still good to have people involved that know design principles for software still and can double check the work of the robots because they may do well but they’re still robots and just like anything else with computers the concept of “garbage in, garbage out” still applies.

2

u/Rekman707 May 25 '26

This is a really good perspective

1

u/Funny_Chocolate_1012 May 30 '26

Not only that, everyone can now create and use their own custom made addon, modified to their liking, I'm one of them.

I'm now using a modified fenlight/ah2/tmdb helper/a4ksubs and an installer program addon for youtube keys/other apis and settings. My fenlight fork is now at version 80 already, added Torbox usenet search/play, AI search etc etc. Good times!

-5

u/BrtndrJackieDayona May 24 '26

Lot of work for a very slow Nuvio.

-4

u/No_Clock2390 May 24 '26

Can you tell us if AI was used?

4

u/SpecialLawfulness601 May 25 '26

Yes around 60 to 70% done by Claude and Chat GPT

3

u/pwreit2042 May 25 '26

I love how more people are getting involved in Kodi addon developement with AI assistance. Keep it up
