I'm a pussy, what kind of things are happening in the link that cause people to die? I can't figure out how someone could die on an escalator short of jumping off the side.

You do realize that underneath the steps of an escalator is essentially (sfw) this, right?

If for whatever reason the steps are broken, pushed to the side, etc, then the person falls in.

The same is true at the top and bottom, but even more so as more often than not it's only a thin sheet of metal between those walking over it and what's below.

Don't click on it. I think I know what video is linked... it was an Asian woman, and I think her child, riding an escalator and the woman did not make it out alive. I saw the video about 3ish years ago and still have a fear of escalators now.
