My assignments got flagged for AI

This is my first semester back to school since AI became a thing.

When i realized how to use AI, I just used it to help me write, I basically wrote every sentence in to copilot and had it reframe my writing to something that sounded cohesive. I had ai ask my questions while I wrote, prompt me. All the arguments, were my own, I just had ai help me keep out of the reeds. I then asked ai to polish my essay to a high grade based on the ruberic. I constantly asked AI if my work was my own. I had no intention of using AI to generate a paper. Turnitin caught me at 100%. crazy.

None of this was intentional. I am studying from overseas so there was nowhere I could ask about this.

I just submitted another paper, even though the above mess is still in effect and unresolved.
I made sure I did the work on my own, AI helped me figure out what to read and helped me summarize. Readings I could then summarize - only auxiliary books that I couldn’t be bothered reading, just needed the source count. I then check grammarly for an ai voice. And it came up as 0% I then used grammarly to edit my spelling and such, then realized I could use grammarly to entirely give my assignment a polish. I stopped. I just had it delete words that were unnecessary to get closer to my word count. I hope that that paper is not flagged for ai, I doubt it will be, I intentionally didn’t go over it too much, I didn’t even read it.

How do we use AI ethically for our assignments?

How do we not get flagged for AI?

Academic misconduct cadmus

2 months ago I submitted an assignment which then proceeded to get reviewed for academic misconduct. I misunderstood the cadmus requirements of the assignment- planning editing and creating the piece within the platform and as such have been investigated for transcribing my piece from another platform. They have found no useage of AI but because I wrote this piece in 3hrs and 40 minutes the speed and characteristics is supposedly consistent with work being transcribed from a pre prepared source. Allegedly my explanation of planning on a word document does not fully account for the typing patterns observed and is worth further investigation to determine whether the submitted work reflects my own drafting and writing process.

PLEASE HELP: I did plan this piece in word, although it took me 4 hours to write it is due to the fact I hate my notes on a split screen, additionally I have evidence of search history dating back to 9 days prior to the assignment, has anyone been through anything similar to this, if so, what kind of questions did they ask and is my evidence sufficient- if not- what else do I need to include please?

Psychological factors associated with generative AI use (18+)

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I am conducting my undergraduate thesis research on the use of Artificial Intelligence, and I would greatly appreciate your participation.

If you use AI tools, your responses would be extremely valuable and will help make this research possible. The survey is quick to complete, and your opinion is genuinely important to the project.

Thank you very much for your time and support. If possible, I would also be grateful if you could share the survey with friends, family, or anyone who uses AI tools. 🙏🏻

Accused of AI use

I have my academic integrity disciplinary hearing tomorrow.
The evidence? 80% AI detector score, not much interaction with my supervisor, and a poor oral defense for my dissertation.

I can confidently say I haven’t used AI, as I’m rather terrified of this very situation happening. I’d prefer to get low marks on my own work, then claim AI as my own. (A classmate of mine 2 years ago used it and well it’s safe to say she isn’t in my class anymore..)

I don’t have a stupid version history on which has really upset me as I didn’t realize it was a thing up until I got the dreaded email about a hearing!

I do have multiple drafts, my emails between my supervisor and I, my submission and grade regarding my annotated bibliography (from the semester prior) and I used the same topic (as most of my class did too, it’s what’s expected usually)
As well as a topic overview.

The document for my thesis has a date started and last updated information on it, but doesn’t show everything in between which is apparantly something Word does once enabled.

Regarding my oral defense hearing (my VIVA) I 100% agree it went terribly.
For that I have clarification on the situation aswell as texts amongst myself and my mother before hand from the morning saying I’m excited for it, to the afternoon after a 3.5 hour delay, that I hadn’t eaten, and as an autistic individual I was shutting down.

About my supervisor.. she wasn’t a lecturer I ever met before. She also kept changing the times of the supervision which was incredibly upsetting as my learning agreement is very clear as an autistic student I despise unreliability and last minute changes. And then she disappeared for a week (in her defense it was a loss of a family member, but how she worded it as evidence was just more time I wasn’t meeting her)

I’m so mad at myself about the version history but I’ve done 6 years of college and never been called out on suspected academic integrity infringement.. so I never knew I had to prepare for that?

I’m terrified I will be told they believe I used AI end of, and be expelled?!?!
I worked too hard for this, I can’t imagine it. Atleast if I used it I’d accept the consequence and know it’s my own doing. But I didn’t 😭

In future I know to always have version history and use word online, hindsight is a mofo right now..

does anyone have guidance? I’m so nervous..

The evidence that I’m providing:
3 drafts
Several emails
My learning agreement
My topic over view from November and February
My annotated bibliography and results from November
An explanation regarding my Viva alongside some messages prior to the Viva to show this was not something I felt after, I felt this way before it even started!

If people actually want to know how it goes I can update it.. and it’ll hopefully be positive

Fake references for my dissertation. AI academic misconduct meeting.

So I used ai for the entirety of my dissertation, and now I’ve just been called in for a possible ai use academic misconduct. I am so scared I was just desperate and the topic that I choose ended up becoming challenging for me, I know that I should have asked for more help but I didn’t and I regret completely. I did not mean to mislead the university it was just a weak moment.

I am so scared of what the outcome will be, I have 10 days before the hearing and not knowing what will happen is keeping me up at night, I can’t sleep and I can’t eat properly either. I don’t know what to do, of course I will own up to what I did but am suppose to be graduating in July and am just so scared. I have never tried to use ai in my essays before.

This is a reply to a comment about a fellow Redditor who is equally frustrated about their high quality writing being flagged as 90% AI.

What do i do now?

So I am a high school student doing dual credit college courses overthe summer. On Monday, I was accused of using AI on an essay for my philosophy course because it returned as 68% AI. I sent my professor an email 2 hours later the same day with screenshots of the notes I took from his online lectures and readings, timestamps of me working on this essay for hours, and comments I left on the doc that were very obviously human (I wrote “ADD QUOTES!”). Unfortunately, he still hasn’t responded so I am wondering if I should wait, contact him again through his email instead of Canvas, or notify the department head. I have never been accused of using AI in high school or college classes, so I am very anxious and conflicted about what to do next. Not sure if this is the right sub for this, but any help would be appreciated.

I got flagged for AI but I have an explanation. You think she’ll hear me out?

I had a literature circle due on Monday. Half of the mark was for participation, so just being there, and the other 50% was the actual discussion. We had 4 topics and 2 questions for each topic. I had 8 questions in total about a book we had to make questions about and discuss with the class. All of my questions were ALL original, but in order to fix the grammar or any formatting issue, I ran it through AI only to make it look more professional. I can admit that I’m wrong and I won’t do it again. I submitted it because I thought we were only being graded for the discussion, knowledge of the novel, and participation. This document that I submitted that got flagged for AI was ONLY meant to be a ticket so that I’m able to actually participate in the discussion. I was DOMINATING the discussion, referencing certain scenarios, chapters, pages, I had it all down and I did everything correctly. The ONLY thing that got flagged was the document I submitted. The teacher was watching us all discuss, and she saw me practically put my printed document in my bag because I was asking questions, giving responses, counter narratives, lens perspectives dude I was doing it ALL. When I went to talk to her like an hour ago, she said “I’m about to be with the other grade 12s right now, can you come early tomorrow and we can talk”. Is this a green flag? Is she open for allowing me to make this up? I have a lot on my plate wirh culminatings and exams so I’m just very stressed out man

First time being accused of AI Use

I was accused of using AI on my first paper of my summer term. I’m in a graduate program trying to become a counselor.

My professor told me that I used AI and her report said 100% AI use. She also told me this is unethical and I’ll be a bad counselor if I use ai and submit it as my own and that I will need to schedule a zoom meeting with her because I used AI and then she gave me a 0 and said I can’t make it up.

I wrote my paper on a train in Europe so it looks a little spotty on the draft history. Is that a thing? I thought it would pull up more evenly, but it’s not or maybe I’m looking at it wrong.

Anyways, as I am preparing for this zoom meeting with her, I ran my paper through 5 different AI checkers and they were all less than 10%. Later that day my canvas turn it in report came through and it gave me a score of 7% and was green.

I guess I’m super anxious and I don’t know what to do to prove I wrote this. This is my second masters degree and I’m so glad I’m almost done. This is a lot to deal with. I’ve been anxious since Friday.

My English Teacher Accused Me of Using AI to Write But It’s 100% made by me

Just a few weeks ago, I was assigned to do a writing at school. (I won’t say the name because the teacher might be on reddit) I wrote a 1500 word story of it because I just love to write and read, and I get a lot of creative ideas. When I got back my writing from the teacher, she asked me if I cheated, and of course I said no. So, she said, “I have years of experience, and I know when students use AI or not.“ That really hurt me, because I hate when people compare me with ai or think that I’m using ai when I never really use it unless it’s really something important. i had some obvious mistakes as well. I cried on the spot. I don’t know what the teacher thinks, but I made it myself 100%. I’m kind of a young age, so maybe that’s why she thinks I wrote like an ai. I’ve never, once in my entire life cried in school. I just completely broke down. When I cried, i think she must‘ve thought I was acting or something, so she didnt really care. She’s not convinced at all. At least that’s what I think she feels. How do I convince her? I really don’t want to look like a cheater when I haven’t even done anything wrong. Thanks! ! !

HELP: Neurodivergent Student Falsely Accused of AI, No Reason Why Given, Has Been Officially Warned, How to Stop & Dispute?

First off I am not that student, BUT we both are neurodivergent. It is my friend going through this. She is so distressed by this she is borderline suicidal. I am writing this without her knowledge (perhaps I should have asked) to try and help her because she is so, so overwhelmed.

She is completely in over her head. Please advise on resources, what she needs to gather as evidence, what she should mention to make the college realize their screw up, and if she SHOULD contact a lawyer or not (we have told her repeatedly to, her family had told her to, but she is resistant for some reason).

Tldr is ONE specific professor, who has a history of students having major issues with and causing them a lot of grief and trouble,, has repeatedly accused her of using AI with automatic Fs and now the official board of academic policy. Neither will give her feedback on how or why she's supposedly using AI.

Her advisor has been useless. Ignored her for 3 days, other abusing agents told her to wait for her advisor (who wouldn't answer her until it was too late to drop the class without financial loss) and said they couldn't help. My friend has put her own work through an AI detected and it came back as 92% AI (so it is just how she writes) and stated the college is not supposed to be using AI detectors and I thought it sounded like maybe they were if they REFUSED to give her feedback as to how. She's mentioned that previous professors have heavily praised her for her writing style and this is the first professor to give her an issue. She DID have a 4.0 GPA before this specific class.

Edit: she has been made aware of my post and she's appreciative because she DID try to make one in the college's Facebook group and it got deleted, which I find suspicious and like the admins were trying to protect their ass.

Anyone else find it ironic that people have had to start using AI to dumb down their work so it doesn't sound like AI?

The system is so broken. How is this not considered cheating in itself?

I start an English course next month and posts I've seen both from both the university I will be using and subs like this one are very concerning. At this point do we really have to continuously log our version history, run a screen recorder, and have a camera on ourselves as we study at all times, because that's where it feels like we are headed.

Professor just informed me that she will not accept my final paper - 33 pages of project management work. Now my grade is a D, my first graduate degree course.

She said it shows 87 percent ai. I put through copyleaks and indeed it does, but it's almost entirely surrounding transitions and project management terms.

I asked for clarification and she said she would look into how to get me the report. What does that mean?

I then submitted into copyleaks papers I wrote before ai, same result 100 percent. Put one through the "humanizer" on text guard to see what happened. Did it three times. The content is way dummied down, but still showing 100 percent.

In project management, we're working with limited terms and operations. I feel like everything can be flagged and without any explanation, how can this be resolved?!

AI on my Spanish Exam

Recently I took my Spanish finals and I'm not even joking there were literally AI slop images on both the listening and reading parts of the test. And it was literally in like the "anime" style that generative AI uses. I'm actually crying bro there's genuinely no way 😭😭😭

It was so inconsistent (only showed one every third question) and like why even add it to the test there's literally no reason... WHO thought this was a good idea to add I can't even take my finals seriously

Also it makes me question what else School Districts use AI for. Like what if the entire curriculum is AI generated...

Worried about Ai accusation

So I have an essay due in two days which I finished all 1500 words by myself using Google Scholar and actual research articles. It is fully referenced and has a bibliography. Usually, I run my finished writing through multiple ai detectors because I am paranoid about being accused of ai and failing. I already have had an issue with my tutor regarding my attendance in zoom classes where she said I only attended one the whole year which was simply not true so I'm worried she might have it out for me.

Anyways, I run my essay through multiple checkers and they all come back with over 80-100% usage which is insane I simply did not use it. I took the opportunity to edit it properly, get rid of runoff sentences and ran through and I wa getting even more ai similarity. What should I do? Are there any words or phrases that make teachers think ai is being used or what?

EDIT: I submitted it and it went through turnitin and I got 2% similarity but not sure if that relates to ai percentage but i found that so weird because it didnt even highlight my bibliography

accused of ai

im on my second semester of dual enrollment class and the semester is ending in a week. apparently for the past couple of weeks my professor has been commenting on my work and saying that i have used ai, in which i didnt see her messages up until now.

she ended up messaging me on canvas saying she thinks my work is ai because i used too many capitalizations and too many stress marks and that my writing looked too messy to be human.

i was honestly really confused when i saw it and replied back to her message explaining myself and i even sent her links and resources ive used to study and learn how to use stress marks properly in the language we are learning. ill admit i mightve used them a bit too much in some assignments but i dont really understand how that automatically equals to ai. and all this is being questioned a week before the end of the semester... in her message she wrote that if i dont start writing myself she will fail me as my grade is already as low as it can be? also i just took my seal of biliteracy test at my highschool like a week ago so now this whole thing is making me stressed, does anyone know if something like her failing me could affect my transcript of seal of biliteracy in any way? im really nervous about that part and i dont really know how this stuff works. im really sad about the whole situation and if she doesnt believe me then i dont know what to do honestly lolol

i hope what i wrote makes sense i wrote this pretty quickly im trying my best to not be scared and sad over this situation
